Garth Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 I've liked Buffy for ages now, and i finally got round to watching some Angel off one of my friends, and wow. I never realised it was that good. Also one more thing, am i the only one who is reminded of The Rocks new enterance by the very begining of the opening credits. I always find myself saying "Is Cookin'" when i start watching it, anyone else do this?
The Dames Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 The first time I saw The Rock's intro, a small part of me wanted David Boreanaz to bust out of the Titantron. Angel is a great show, especially when seen after Buffy. The crossovers are great and I'm still miffed at Fox for releasing Angel FIRST before releasing Buffy Season 4....thereby giving viewers only the second half of the crossover. I bought both at the same time. Dames
Garth Posted June 9, 2003 Author Report Posted June 9, 2003 I marked out so much the first time i checked out Angel, i was like WTF is rocks enterance doing on Angel? Yeah thats cool, i'm in the process of getting a job primaraly to get money for dvd's Buffy and Angel are first on my list. Do you know if theres any cool extras on the DVD's?
Guest Mole Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 I never watched Angel either until season 1 came out. I liked Buffy, so I thought I would give Angel a shot. So I bought the DVD, and I loved it. Season 2 comes out in August I believe, but I won't buy this one I'll just ask for it as a birthday present.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Season 2 and 3 is when it starts to really cook.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 I'll elaborate cause I haven't talked about Angel, seemingly, in ages. They started to find their rhythm in season 2, and in season 3 they continued it. In Season 2 Fred joined the show, Gunn and Lorne were mainstays, Wes' role developed, they move into the hotel, character development was high and they were setting everything up for season 3. Season 3 brought with it the start of the 'connor saga', which aside from connor, is a really great fucking saga. Character development continued, esp. w/ Cordy and Wes which paid off in season 4 (paid off good for Wes, bad for Cordy).
bobobrazil1984 Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Wait till Season 2, that really kicks ass. S3 is good also but I feel its a bit overrated, probably in comparison to Buffy's less than stellar S6 which aired at the same time.
Guest Mole Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 I like season 6 of Buffy. I just don't think people liked it because it was a BIG change from the past seasons. They were trying to do something different, but I think it worked. Plus, they were mainly setting up for season 6 because LOTS of events from season 6 were continued in season 7.
Guest Cavi Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 I really quite liked Buffy Season Six. As for Rock's new intro, Angel's intro immediately came to mind when I first saw it. "Hero" rules.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 I watched Angel until Darla gave birth to his son and then haven't seen anything until they busted Faith out last season. First of all...after they moved Angel's time slot away from right after Buffy...I couldn't be bothered to figure out when it was on. Then...when I watched the one episode this season I couldn't get into it so I decided I'd just catch up when the DVD's get released.
Guest Mole Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 I got caught up nicely when Faith came back. I read somewhere that Angel's ratings went up once Faith came back. I guess a lot of people wanted to see her. I am interested in seeing what Buffy's finale got for a rating.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Season 3 was one big giant arc. The Holtz/Angel/Wes/Connor/Lilah dynamic fucking rocks it. Everything started to connect.
Guest Mole Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 I've got to wait till March of 2004 for Angel season 3 to come out, so I've got a while to wait.
Guest fazzle Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 I didn't really like Angel season 1 or 2, but the show picked up big time with 3.
Guest Cavi Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 I am interested in seeing what Buffy's finale got for a rating. It garnered a 4.9, its highest rating since the Season Six premiere.
Guest Mole Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Damn, for UPN that's decent. I'm glad Buffy was on WB and UPN. If they were on any of the big 4, they would of been canceled a LONG time ago. Same with Angel, actually, I don't even think Angel would of been made.
Guest Cavi Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Yeah, WB especially deserves props for backing Joss from the start. And it was great that UPN did the run in for the save, despite Moonves' dumbass comments when he took control of the network.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 I just got season 1 on DVD a little while ago. I'm on;y 10 episodes in. And even though I knew it was coming Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Doyal's death seemed more touching then Spike's for some reason. They should have kept him around longer And Angel's opening is way better then Buffys.

Guest Cavi Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 What exactly did he do? He said that if he was in charge of UPN at the time when Buffy was looking for a new home, he would have never purchased it. He had also expressed his disappointment with the show's ratings more than once, which was kind of odd since Season Six did better overall than Season Five, not to mention that it's a niche show which hit its height of mainstream penetration years earlier.

They should have kept him around longer That is because Joss and David wanted to prove, like Buffy, that anyone can die at anytime. Plus, they needed to give Cordy powers some how. It comes out in early September, actually. I read at one point it was August, but it is September 2, 2003. Here is the artwork. Well fuck him then. This is the same guy who put Abby, UPN's Top Model, The Parkers etc on TV.
Guest fazzle Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Heeeee, Angel looks like he's trying to devour Cordy's head in the box art.
Guest Lil Naitch Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 I only caught a few episodes of Season 3 of Angel since they moved the time around ALOT. Odly enough, I watched it while I was on break at the Casino I worked at once or twice, and besides the the finale that was all I saw. I'm glad I was able to follow season 4, cause it ROCKED. And I can't wait to get both Buffy and Angel on DVD soon.

Hey hey hey...if it weren't for Abby kadeem Hardison wouldn't have a job and I couldn't watch it for 5 minutes everytime to see the girl that plays Abbys sister INCREDIBLE ass. Its good for something. Angel Season 1 gets called mediocre by alot of Buffy fans because it was so different. I LOVED the first season. It was a great season that took things in a completely different direction than what Buffy was doing. I saw it as its own seperate beast all together and enjoyed it more because of that. And the ONLY reason that anyone would think the Doyles death was more touching than Spikes is because we all know that Spike will be on Angel next year. If we had no knowledge of that, Spikes laugh-o-death would have outdone Doyles(which got me admittedly) by alot.

Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 Yeah, I know, his name was Glenn Quinn. And I used spoiler tags when I made the post, blame the person who quoted it.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 Dont worry about it, i was just being sarky. While i'm here, does anyone know the circumstances that caused Doyle to leave and be replaced by Wesley the Willow screwer. I mean, i know he died when he stepped in front of the demonkiller machine, but why did the actor, glenn quinn leave
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 Wesley's character got better as the show went on. But his whole bumbling british guy thing was real annoying to start.
