Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I was looking at the 2 Fast 2 Furious thread and a light bulb struck in my head. Since its never been done before (I think) i'll get it crackin. I think the best rapping actor has to be Will Smith, eventhough he was garbage as a rapper but he's a good actor. As female I will say Queen Latifah, when she did "Livin Single" I knew she would have a acting career.
Guest Mole Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Eminem did a decent job in 8 Mile. Will Smith did an excellent job in Ali, and didn't get enough credit that he deserves. DMX sucks BALLS!! I still hate it when my ex gf tells me that he did a good job in Exit Wounds. There is this one line that just shows how bad he is, but I can't remember what it is. Guest Crucifixio Jones Report post Posted June 10, 2003 You are guys are overlooking the mighty Mos Def. The Italian Job isn't his first gig acting. He's been OUTSTANDING in everything I've ever seen him in (The Cosby Mysteries, Bamboozled, etc.), even if the movie itself was bad (MTV's Carmen springs to mind). And he's done stage work, too so give the man his props.
Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Nope, im not sleeping on Mos Def, I think he's a good actor from what i've seen of him. I heard he was really good in that broadway play he was in. You can't forget 2pac, he seemed to be a natural granted that some of his movies weren't really that good.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I like DMX. He's got a good presence on the screen.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Eminem did a decent job in 8 Mile. Eminem basically played himself. That however can be difficult to do.

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I would say Ice Cube and Queen Latifah are the best. I'm not saying the ones on the list below are good or bad, but I'm wondering what people think of them as actors.... LL Cool J Nas Method Man Busta Rhymes Snoop Dogg Eve P. Diddy Master P
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I like Eve in the Barber Shop and was very surprised at her acting ablities.

Guest Mole Report post Posted June 10, 2003 LL Cool J - He is decent, picks bad movies though Nas - Haven't seen him in anything Method Man - Was actually pretty good in How High Busta Rhymes - I've only seen him in Finding Forrester, didn't impress me that much Snoop Dogg - Did a great job in Baby Boy, not too good in Bones, always plays best when playing himself, ie Half Baked, The Wash Eve - Impresed me in Babershop P. Diddy - Don't really remember him from Monster's Ball Master P - He was in a movie? Eminem - Good in 8 Mile, and playing yourself isn't that easy 2Pac - Was pretty good, and was improving with every movie, from what I remember Ja Rule - Only saw him in Furious, and he was awful Ice Cube - Is pretty decent Ice-T - I have only seen him when he was on New York Undercover, and was impressed. Then again, I used to love this show when I was a younger, so I think I am biased. Ludacris - Best actor in all of 2F2F DMX - HORRIBLE Redman - Was pretty decent in How High Dr. Dre - Wasn't that good in Training Day, you could tell he was acting. Did a decent job when he played himself in The Wash Mos Def - Never seen any of his work Lauryn Hill - Only seen her in Sister Act 2, which she did a good job in Queen Latifah - Never seen any of her movies Coolio - Never seen any of his movies I think I covered all of the rappers who have been in movies. If there are any others, name them.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Master P has been in a bunch of movies. Some went to theaters (Dark Blue, Hollywood Homicide, I Got the Hook Up) and some were straight-to-video films he made himself that starred pretty much him and everyone on the No Limit label. Those movies (I'm Bout It, Da Last Don, Hot Boyz) tended to be only 45 minutes or so and were really just companion pieces to his albums. If you want to include do-it-yourself films and B-movies, there are a lot more rappers who have acted. That list includes... Silkk the Shocker Mystikal C-Murder E-40 The Cash Money guys (Juvenile, Baby, Lil Wayne, BG, Mannie Fresh) Raekwon Kurupt (also in Hollywood Homicide) Fat Joe (also in Empire, that John Leguizamo flick) Big Pun Freeway Beanie Sigel Lady of Rage (she was on Steve Harvey's show and Next Friday) Trina Trick Daddy Sticky Fingaz (from Onyx) Fredro Starr (from Onyz. He's actually been in a lot of stuff; Save the Last Dance was one) Scarface Treach (from Naughty by Nature. He's been in a few mainstream movies, too.) Guest Mole Report post Posted June 10, 2003 And I am sure those movies sucked as much as Ice-T's straight to video movies.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted June 10, 2003 let's not forget Lil' Bow Wow. I've never seen that movie he was in, and I'm not gonna. But did anybody else see it?
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 LL Cool J, Will Smith, and Ice-T are head and shoulders above all other acting rappers.
LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 let's not forget Lil' Bow Wow. I've never seen that movie he was in, and I'm not gonna. But did anybody else see it? working in a movie store I actually did see it for the heck of it and it wasn't that bad. Not too sure on Bow Wow's ability, but I was very surprised in the movie in general. I thought it would be horrible and it was kind of fun, like the old Angels in the Outfield and Rookie of the Year movies only with basketball and a hip hop twist. It was much better than I thought. Bow Wow comes across pretty much like most child actors, rather than a rapper/actor. I'd say an alright one, but not stand-out, but it's been a while. Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Ice-T was good in New Jack City I thought Eminem was horrible in 8 Mile. Queen Latifah was great in Set It Off. Will Smith, while a crappy pop rapper, decent in some movies and on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
Guest Marshall Report post Posted June 10, 2003 What was Nas in? I'd be interested in that. I hear Jay Z want to go into acting next, I thnk he'll be good.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted June 10, 2003 LL Cool J - He's a pretty good actor Nas - 1/2 of Belly...one of the worst movies I have ever seen...so needless to say, dude sucks balls as a actor. For a shitastic good time, go to the sceen in Belly after he had been shot and he and T-boz try to out crappy act each other... Method Man - Pretty bad actor. Busta Rhymes - Lets see...finding forester, shaft, higher learning...yeah...he over acted in the all and did a pretty bad job. Snoop Dogg - Another horrible actor. I think people get blinded by the "Hey, its Snoop" moment to pay attention to his emotionless stumbling over lines...although he did alright in Training Day. Eve - Pretty blah. P. Diddy - Did a ALRIGHT job in Monsters Ball...not great but not horrible. Master P - About as good as his rapping. (BTW, I mean he is a HORRIBLE actor) Eminem - Alright, but didn't sound natural when delivering his lines...except for the ~ANGRY parts. 2Pac - Hip-hop community myth number 25....Tupac was a good actor...no...he wasn't. I like the guy as much as the next rap fan, but dude was NOT a good actor. He had charisma, but he couldn't conviencingly deliver a line or convey an emotion to save his life. Ja Rule - Steven Segal did a better job than him...now take that in and let it stew... STEVEN....SEGAL.... Ice Cube - Pretty good at times. Ice-T - Hip-hop Community myth #36- Ice T can act...no...he can't. I do admit, he has gotten better, but he was shit before so that isn't much of a statement. DMX - the other half of Belly...nuff said. Redman - Decent if you let him just play himself Dr. Dre - Bad, bad actor Mos Def - EXTREMELY talented actor. VERY VERY GOOD Lauryn Hill - Pretty good in her one role. Queen Latifah - EXTREMELY TALENTED ACTRESS Coolio - American Myth number 1075...Coolio is still actually a celebrity to the hip-hop community. I know that doesn't really apply to the question, but hell, I used to free style in 7th grade and I have acted in some plays and I ain't on the list, neither should the "Look at my hair, I know I haven't done ANYTHING in about 10 years now, but seriously...look at my hair" co-star of the Oscar calibre "Phat Beach" Coolio. Will Smith-Alright actor, did a great job in Ali but I can usually tell that he is acting. Fat Joe- well, he WAS in Empire...but god damn he is a bad actor. If you really want to see a craptacular movie, check out his film with Mack 10...blood brothers I think it was called. You'll laugh at the comedy, you'll cry at the drama...you'll....well, actually you will laugh at everything including the drama...hi-fucking-larious film...unintentional or not. Thats all I can think of folks. I'm sure there are more.

TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Top 5 Rapper/Actors are(in no order): 2 Pac - See Gridlock'd. He was very good in that. He pretty much got better by the movie. Ice Cube - See Boyz N The Hood, Three Kings. He's good and pretty consistent too. LL Cool J - He's got a charisma about him which makes him great in movies. Plus he can deliver lines well enough. Queeen Latifah - See Chicago. Will Smith - He's better at acting than he is at rapping.
Guest ant_7000 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Nas- Horrible, Belly was a garbage movie and I find it funny when people say it was good movie. He was in Ticker with Steven Segal nuff said. Eve- Not bad in Barbershop, and she'll have own sitcom this fall on UPN. Method Man- He was in Belly too nuff said. He was also in clusterfuck movie "Black and White." Some of the Wu members was in B&W they sucked dick in that too. DMX- His performance in Belly was awful, but I think he improved in the other movies. He can only star in action movies. Snoop- I only saw him in Bones and Baby Boy, he sucked in both. I don't know why people especially white fans see in Snoop, I don't see the fascination anymore with him. He has had two good albums in 10 years. Master P- He's ok in the mainstream movies, but his No Limit movies accept Foolish is garbage. Fat Joe- He sucked in Empire and that BET movie with Q-Tip sucked too. Ice Cube- Good Actor, and somewhat decent script/screenplay writer. Ice T- He's good too, I find it ironic that he made "Cop Killer" and now he plays a cop in a couple of his films. Fedro Starr (Onyx)- He was ok in Sunset Park, but on Moesha he sucked. Eminem- Ok in 8 Mile, he played himself. LL Cool J- Pretty good. But only in supportive roles.

Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 My whole take on Latifah is that she is a successful woman who just seems to do more and more, and men are intimidated by her... in that BTM piece she showed me that she was human, vulnerable and lonely, too. its a shame, because once you take away all the fame, money and glamour, she seems like she's one hell of a woman.
