Guest C-Bacon Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Question about titles: I remeber reading in the 2003 WWE Yearbook mag that the RAW World title had a seperate lineage dating from September 2002. But what about the Cruiserweight title? Does it still have the WCW lineage dating back to around '96 with Shinjiro Otani, or did a new lineage start during the invasion? ***SMALL SMACKDOWN SPOILER*** And does everyone expect the US title to have a new lineage under the WWE banner, or rather continuing from the WCW lineage, making it being "de-unified " from the Intercontinental title, which of course was taken from the current world title? Did that make sense?

Did that make sense? I think it would, because the Cruiser title wasn't unified with anything.
Garth 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Yeah i'm pretty sure it has the WCW lineage becasue they had the Light Heavyweight Title and the Cruiserweight Title running simaltainiously(sp?) they just sort of pretended the LHW title didn't exist anymore. ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 From when WWF/E Title Histories official webpage was still up, the Cruiserweight Championship still had lineage from the WCW Cruiserweight Title. However, their page only went back to Chavo Guerrero's last reign...
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 There were a few unification matches, not sure if anyone survived the invasion angle with both belts though. I'm thinking X-Pac held one title and Tajiri the other and we just, happily, forgot about X-Pac?
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 There were a few unification matches, not sure if anyone survived the invasion angle with both belts though. I'm thinking X-Pac held one title and Tajiri the other and we just, happily, forgot about X-Pac? X-Pac had the Light Heavyweight Title, Tajiri had the Cruiserweight Championship X-Pac got injured a month before Survivor Series, so he wasn't able to go into a unification match. X-Pac wouldn't return for a while. Taking initiative, WWF (at the time) turned the WCW Cruiserweight Championship into the WWF Cruiserweight Championship, and kept Tajiri as the title holder. When X-Pac returned, they never mentioned the Light-Heavyweight Championship. The WWF/E Cruiserweight Championship would be represented by the WCW Cruiserweight Championship belt until Hurricane's reign, where he got the current belt. EDIT: And when X-Pac went to NWA-TNA as Syxx Pac, he tried to auction off the Light-Heavyweight Championship Belt.

According to WWFTitleHistories.com (when it was up), the Light Heavyweight Championship went only back to Taka Michinoku's reign. Meaning, it started on December 7, 1997. ...I just noticed how creepy that date is, that Taka won the belt then.
Guest Steviekick Report post Posted June 11, 2003 The current WWE cruiserweight title still has its lineage with the old WCW one. I don't consider the RAW title to have any lineage since HHH was just given it. However, if the Smackdown US title belt looks like the original WCW one and is awarded to someone via a tournament or something like that, I could be swayed into arguing that it continues the lineage of the WCW US title. cawthon777 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 The old WWF Jr. Heavyweight Title (same thing as Lt. Heavyweight in my book) was held by guys like the Dynamite Kid and Tiger Mask and was defended almost exclusively in Japan. In the mid 90s, Benoit and one of the Villanos held it for a bit when it was defended in Mexico.
