What was the best Hardcore match?

So it looks like the hardcore division is dead (though with them bringing back the IC title, who knows) and I haven't seen too many hardcore matches on WWE TV recently. Given that, what was the best hardcore match you ever saw in WWF/E? And who was the best Hardcore champion?

 

I'd say the best match I saw was either the Kane-Raven-Big Show match from Wrestlemania X7 (though I didn't really like the ending) or the 6-way match from Backlash 2000 (Tazz, Hardcore Holly, Saturn, Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Crash), which was highly entertaining to me for some reason.

 

Best champ was probably Steve Blackman.

I really liked Rhyno vs Raven - Backlash 2001 and Raven vs Big SHow vs Kane as well. They were both really entretaining matchs.

 

I think the best hardcore champ was Van Dam, because when he held it some credibility was brought back to the title, with Raven being a close second.

The problem with RVD's reign was that it seemed like primarily a decoration on him. I'd say the best champ was Al Snow, Raven, or maybe Crash Holly.

Best champion:

Crash Holly. If you need a refresher course on WHY I chose him, pick up the Hardcore DVD. His run in 2000 was pure gold.

 

Best match:

Wrestlemania X-7 for sheer hilarity. Soveryclosebehind is the Backlash 2001 match between Rhyno and Raven.

I really liked Rhyno vs Raven .....

I totally agree , best hardcore match in WWE. And it was the starter of the PPV. NO other matchup on that PPV measured that one.

I thought Hardy/RVD from Invasion and RVD/Taker from (???) were superb hardcore matches. Dreamer/RVD for the unification was excellent as well. Gotta go with RVD because his matches for the hardcorte title were superior to any other champs.

I was always partial to the Al Snow/Road Dogg match from Raw.

Liked when they went Hardcore for the belts.

 

RVD defense mostly wasn't all that Hardcore, asides the use of the Chair.

 

Crash was like hide and go seek champ.

 

I Liked the battle royal time limit Hardcore match from WM2000 though it made no sense how everyone beat on each other and not jump the champ totally.

 

Bossman actually was decent as the hardcore champ,, and of course Al Snow and the earlier ones were too

 

Raven was like the Garbage man of Hardcore bring down the shopping cart with the Frankenstein doll riding shotgun.

 

the last good Hardcore champ was the Last Hardcore champ..Tommy Dreamer.... He made one last ditch effort to revitalize it... and he did a good job going extreme but the problem is, they didn't have to many hardcore wrestlers left to make it interesting.... who was Dreamer fighting..Bradshaw and fuckin Stevie Richards oye.

I'd pick Rob Van Dam for the best champion becuase when he did hold the belt people cared about the Hardcore division 'cause he was so popular at the time. It made the belt mean something.

 

As for best match, it has to be Raven/Rhyno from Backlash 2001. It was just a great match.

I'd have to say the best champ was RVD......probably one of the few times that belt was taKen seriously.

 

As far as best match, I never saw Raven-Rhyno, so I am going to say RVD-Hardy from Invasion.

 

Also, I doubt many people remember this, but when Road Dogg held the title, it was somewhat credible as well. He and Gangrel actually had a very good match on Raw during his run.

RVD had a bunch of good hardcore matches (w/ Hardy, Jericho, and even a good one with Taker). The Raven/Rhyno match was gold. For best champ, I would say RVD because the title wasn't considered a huge joke when he had it.

I'd say Road Dogg was the best champ. All the other titles reigns after that were too gimicky for me...and as popular as RVD was, he didn't do anything to make the belt more credible, IMO.

I liked the title when people like Foley, Dogg (didn't Funk get involved in a few matches) were vying for it. Afterward it got too gimmicky for my taste (although some of the Crash skits were funny)...

I only see ONE RVD/Jericho vote? That was definately the best wrestling affair in a hardcore environment. The RVD/Jeff Ladder match was also superb.

Honorable mentions go to Rhyno/Raven and RVD/Taker.

RVD has been in the most "good" hardcore matches, so he's definately the best champ.

I would go with RVD-Undertaker as my favorite hardcore title match and Road Dog as the top hardcore champion (although I have a hard time remembering why... I think he really worked well in the element with Snow and Gangrel).

The problem with the Hardcore belt is that it couldn't ever really be "hardcore"..I mean, how many times did we have to see a fucking fire extinguisher or a trash can lid? Those are two of the lamest weapons ever for a hardcore match.

 

With that said, I think Crash Holly did the most for the belt, and the best match was Rhyno-Raven.
