Guest Bosstones Fan Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Damn...those are some sick bastards playing with that kid's mind like that. I love it.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Didn't read closely but didn't anyone confirm it was even a kid. Older people who are new to computers and the net are 10x dumber than a kid using a computer for the first time.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 The cads! Funny though.
Guest HBK16 Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Those are fucked up kids there. lol. Funny as hell though.
Guest hardyz1 Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 That was hilarious, although the deltree part was very mean.
Guest Renegade Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 How the hell did that fool manage to get onto a chatroom?
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 So, in the end.......what happened to his PC?
Yuna_Firerose Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 That's what I want to know. What does "deltree C:\*.* /y" do? I figure I better not try and find out..
Guest The Flying Dutchman Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 "deltree" is a DOS command that deletes a folder and all subfolders and files within it. Specifying C:/ means it would delete all the files on C:. In other words, it would delete his harddrive. /y, IIRC, would have automatically answered "yes" to the question of "Are you sure you want to delete these files?' so that the kid wouldn't be able to say "No" or wouldn't know what was going on. EDIT: To clear it up just a bit more for those who don't know ... In DOS, "*" is a wildcard command. If you typed a command relating to a file, you could say something like "del *.exe" and it would delete all files that have an ".exe" extension. If you typed "del blahblahblah.*" then you delete all files name "blahblahblah. SOOOO ... "del *.*" would delete ALL files.

Ouch. Thats harsh.

Guest The Flying Dutchman Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 Yeah, it's pretty fucking mean. I editted the post to clarify a little bit more about the "*.*" modifier.
Guest The Flying Dutchman Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 I used to know how to use DOS to make a file that was exactly 1 *byte* in size. I have the file still on my computer, but can't remember the command.
Guest Muzz Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 ... That's unbelievable. Even I know what deltree does, standard high school IT stuff.
Guest DARRYLXWF Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 ....Oh dear. I really hope that wasn't an elderly person. I can't stand people messing with them. Though I doubt it was.
