Guest The Imp Report post Posted June 13, 2003 This is my first post on this forum...and I really hope that all the Billy Gunn haters jump on this...but I will tell you something...for a wrestler that everyone likes to flame...for a wrestler that supposedly has no talent...for a wrestler that seems to ride off somebody else's heat...this is what I say...pay attention... Billy Gunn knows how to work a crowd...he knows how to play the face...he knows how to play the heel...for everyone that bitches about his shortcomings, he sticks that back in your face with mic work...the man knows how to work the "smarts" into a frenzy...his talent is there... I hope that he finally gets what he rightfully deserves...

Adam 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 I hope that he finally gets what he rightfully deserves... Another failed Push? Another injury? A release form? Another Tag Title run? Seriously dude, look at his push in 99, he couldn't say jack, Rocky carried him to SummerSlam. Dude, buy a clue. Gunn suck ass, and I'm not a sheep, I'm just stating an opinion that a whole lot of people agree with. Choke on that, newbie man.

Murmuring Beast 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 To be fair to the guy, he has a point. Gunn is insanely over for a guy that you claim has limited ability. I don't mind Gunn at all. He may only have another year left in him. Love and Mercy.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Dude, buy a clue. Gunn suck ass, and I'm not a sheep, I'm just stating an opinion that a whole lot of people agree with. Choke on that, newbie man. And he is saying that a lot of people like him, what's your point? Hate to tell you, but not everyone who watches wrestling reads the smart mark forums and thinks alike. You also come off sounding like a pompous ass trying to belittle someone due to the date that they registered on an on-line message forum. You're making fun of someone, on a computer, that you've never met, and basing it on the number of posts he has and/or date registered. God forbid we get a poster whom tries to start a conversation, away from the norm, that doesn't get ran off in the first five minutes. Congratulation, you've won the internet.* *not won. Adam 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Thanks Jag, thanks for pointing this out. You would not have a clue what I think. I disagree with this guy. Do you know why? Because I believe, as do others, that he is wrong. Lets look at Billy Gunn. King of the Ring 1999. Intercontinental Champion. Hardcore Champion. Tag Team Champion about as many times as Booker T. He can't draw. His wrestling skills are far from brilliant, and the only persona that he excells in is one where he shows everyone his ass. Think about it, that does not make sense. We want good wrestlers on TV, and Billy Boy could only draw if he had a DX Shirt on and was surrounded by BG James and Syxx-Pac. People pop when you have come back from injury because they respect that you have overcome the injury. I think the pop will die down. Go ahead Gunn, prove me wrong, I'd actually like to see you go well, and I'd like to see your skills improve. You have had almost as many failed pushes as A-Train, and you don't impress alot of people. Did you read the post about Bill Gunn's future partners? We were bagging him out, we dont like him! I don't care if there are people out there that do, I am here, I don't, and Im going to tell everyone I don't like the man! As for the newbie, he called A316 a sheep. I am of the same opinion as A316, so I take offense to that remark. Just because someone has the same opinion as other people does NOT make them a sheep. It just makes them a part of the majority. If you don't like the majority, go home. If you want to fight us, try. I'm a stubborn bastard and I won't budge, so you will have to be in for the long haul. So Jag, use your brain. Don't EVER call me pompus, because Aussie blokes are never pompus, I'll leave that to you. I didn't agree with the guy's post, and he started bagging us in only his second post, so screw him. When you have talked to us for a bit, and you know what TSM is all about, you can express your opinion, and throw in a few smart remarks. Dont just come on here and straight away start bagging us, the last guy that did that was danndogg, and we all know what happened to him. Regards all, Adam W. Guest notJames Report post Posted June 13, 2003 I'd like to point something out that might validate the anti-Mr. Ass sentiment: He had a 2-minute match last night with A-Train. In that time, he got in a minimum of offense, consisting of your average kicks and punches, a clothesline (I think), a botched Stinger splash, and his finisher. No heavy lifting, no body slams, no trademark (ahem) jackhammer, not even a lot of running. When the match was over, Gunn was sucking wind like he just finished superplexing Big Show through the ring. AFTER TWO MINUTES OF DOING PRACTICALLY NOTHING! Gunn is notorious for having little to no conditioning, and this pretty much sealed the deal. You might chalk that up to ring rust, but how much ring rust must you have to blow up so quickly after doing so little, and still justify the airtime, and possibly being involved in a relatively high-profile angle with Torrie Wilson? If Billy Gunn deserves anything, it's to get exposed as the one-trick pony he is, and sent packing post haste. F.B.G.
Guest The Flying Dutchman Report post Posted June 13, 2003 He has a differing opinion! BAN PLZ~! FUCK DA N000BS~!!1! For the record, I greatly enjoyed Billy's work in the Billy and Chuck tag team and I want to see them as a tag team again someday. Preferably gay, 'cause that stuff was just plain fun. And he IS pretty charismatic, even if he isn't the greatest wrestler in the world. His strength is as a tag wrestler and that's where he should stay.

Wow, you sure talk a lot of smack about "newbies" for someone who is a relative "newbie" himself. *nods* As for Gunn, he needs a gimmick change that doesn't involve that guy who sang his Mr. Ass & The One theme songs... ugh. Guest Ghettoman Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Such senseless hate. He's over, he's charismatic, he keeps the crowd in mind, and he by no means sucks in the ring. Whoever was trying to say he was out of breathe after his match with Atrain, get a clue, when you have to exaggerate things drastically to make a point your case has failed. Go ahead and tell me how he botched seven moves while your at it.... Why hate him? Because he's gotten some decent size pushes and got injured? Because he's not Benoit? Because Funaki and Noble should be getting that time? I got an idea, lets leave the hate to guys who either suck, get too much, or suck and get too much. When a guy was never horrible to begin with and's been back for all of a day, its a little sheepish to go on the attack.
Guest NoSelfWorth Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Chris Benoit couldn't drag a good match out of him. That says it all. And in that match, which went about 10 minutes, Gunn was blown up after 5 of them. He was so exhausted, Benoit had to muscle him up for that third german suplex. Go ahead and tell me how he botched seven moves while your at it.... If you have the means, watch the match, and then watch Gunn as he's leaving the ring with Torrie. Guest croweater Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Maybe him "sucking wind" was juss ULTRA-PSYCHOLOGY on the part of Billy Gunn. Being the team player that he is maybe..... just maybe he was putting A-train over as a tough guy to beat and that he just had a tough match against a tough guy. That's what I saw from it. Is a guy selling after an INTENSE high action, high paced match such a bad thing? Try running flat out for 2 minutes and see if you're sucking wind at the end of it. If you're not than you should be a friggin' 800m olympic athlete cas they can't do it! GOOD WORK BILLY GUNN!
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Hate to tell you, but not everyone who watches wrestling reads the smart mark forums and thinks alike. *clapclap* I hate the rep that Smart Marks forums gets....how everyone praises Benoit, hates any and all hosses, etc. Because, honestly, Benoit pretty much bores me... *hides from flames* Besides, so what if he was out of breath after a match with A-TRAIN?! Did anyone even bring up the issue of how fat A-Train is?
Guest croweater Report post Posted June 13, 2003 By the way....... A-Train is SUPER FAT!
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 13, 2003 I've always considered Billy Gunn to be decent in the ring. Not any classics, but he can be carried. The Benoit match was an exception, but I don't think he even should have been back in the ring at that point, much less holding the #2 title in the company. JR creams himself over it, but he is really athletic and bumps well. If they get the U.S. title going with Rhyno, Benoit, Matt Hardy, Kanyon, Cena, and the FBI; Billy Gunn could fit into that mix with no problem.
Guest notJames Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Besides, so what if he was out of breath after a match with A-TRAIN?! Did anyone even bring up the issue of how fat A-Train is? But Billy Gunn did nothing to warrant being out of breath. He didn't run very fast or very long, he didn't lift A-Train off the mat… in fact, the most strenuous thing he did was jump high enough to hit the Fameasser on a bent-over A-Train. So A-Train being fat had nothing to do with Billy Gunn losing steam, which he has been prone to do for a long time now. And the whole "putting A-Train over as a tough competitor in a tough match" wouldn't necessarily translate into being out of breath. Sure, he could sell an injury or a sore back, but why would he be out of breath? Seriously, watch the match again if you can and tell me why after only two minutes he was so blown up. I know I'm harping on this too much, and I know it's just his first match back, but I wouldn't be on him so much if this wasn't the status quo with him. His poor conditioning keeps me from really buying him as anything more than a sub-standard pseudo hoss.

Did anyone even bring up the issue of how fat A-Train is? The match was how long? under 2 minutes I know that, I'm pretty sure I could wrestle for 2 minutes without tiring so an alleged professional athelete shouldn't have a problem Maybe Steiner's curse is hitting Billy too
Guest croweater Report post Posted June 13, 2003 just incase you didn't know, my post about Billy Gunn selling was cynical sarcasm..... maybe just a bit too subtle. Hosestly I never thought to much of Billy Gunn. But he sure as hell has done nothing to offend me (in the ring.... outside of the ring is another story), nor anything to make me a mark for him. However, it is obvious he will not recieve a MEGA PUSH again and he will just be an aside to any major fueds or developments. He's nothing to be offended about and hopefully due to his poor stamina, his matches will also be short and innofensive.
Guest Rob Edwards Report post Posted June 13, 2003 just put him in a tag team, it's always been obvious that's where he does his best work I'm sticking with my Noble idea, Jamie does the Ricky Morton selling and Billy gets the hot tags, Jamie could be made to look like a minature Billy anyway

I had an inkling that it was, but my Sarcasm Detector™ is in the shop, and I had a little too much bran in my coffee this morning. And you're right. He probably won't be getting any mega-pushes any time soon. It just irks me that guys like him get thousands and thousands of chances to prove his mediocrity, while guys more deserving of a push get relegated to Velocity job duty (Jamie Noble, I'm looking directly at you). Can someone please help me pick the sand out of my vagina?

Guest nikowwf Report post Posted June 13, 2003 There really should be a mininum number of posts you have to have before starting a topic to avoid idiots signing up to try to start an argument about Billy Gunn, HHH, etc. niko
Guest croweater Report post Posted June 13, 2003 I really don't think that is fair. Considering that someone may truely believe that HHH is a God of wrestling, and may have just entered the smarks world, it is up to smarks as a unit to edgeucate this poor, poor straying mark so that they will be able to prosper in the knowledge that HHH is not a strong champion and books himself to look impossible to beat. Also, a smark may have just found this board and wanted to post valid viewpoints about why HHH may not suck as badly as we say he does. I would relate it to immigration policy in the governments of current capitalist countries.................. but lets not go there.
