Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted June 17, 2003 I find myself marking out for Rene Dupree. His facial expressions and body language are just hilarious. And he's not even that bad in the ring for a very green worker. I know that Grenier is Patterson's "pet project," but I see a little more potential in Dupree. When he shot a mini-People's Eyebrow to the camera last night after his promo, everyone watching laughed their ass off. I dunno, I think he might be something in a few years. Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Does everybody have to make a steroid joke about all the new wrestlers? (..and a lot of the old ones, as well.) Of course, I don't see anyone pointing fingers at Benoit, even though he's obviously been on the juice at times.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Yeah, but Benoit actually has substance that doesn't come from a needle.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted June 17, 2003 and? Even if somebody in the WWE -was- talented, they'd never show it. I'm sure Benoit wouldn't have been as critically acclaimed as he is if the guy had started in this company. *shrug*
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Benoit had his matches with Austin, Angle, Jericho outside the WWE? Yeah, I uh, guess he did. ...Damn him for gaining experience! Earning respect! Having great matches! Benoit is not _just_ a body, Dupree is.

Earning respect! Having great matches! Benoit is not _just_ a body, Dupree is. To be fair, he was a "big name" when he came in. If he'd have been raised out of the developmentals or the indies, he'd have still been jobbing his ass off.
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Does everybody have to make a steroid joke about all the new wrestlers? No, didn't you catch the pictures? It wasn't an overused steroid joke, it was an overused gay sex joke. Come on!

Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 17, 2003 I am missing your point here... are you saying that had Benoit not lived the life he lived that he'd be a different person than he is today... ??? Get the fuck outta here!
Guest El Psycho Diablo Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Let me put this simply. Everyone bashes these new guys because they suck, right? My -point- is that even if one of them DID turn out to be talented, you'd never, ever know it. Think about it. The only guy to slip past them is Angle. That's it. I guess I'm just tired of hearing the same stupid jokes, and the same stupid "Well, he sucks." come out for everyone debuting in the WWE that's not a big-name wrestler, or an indie hero. Hell, even some of these so called "great" wrestlers are looking very generic, these days. I guess that's the WWE's fault, too..right?
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 17, 2003 I don't see how'd "I'd never, ever, know about it" given that I saw talent in Brock Lesnar from his match with Booker T, dispite being short and not particularly good. I saw talent in Randy Orton in a Velocity match with Kidman.
Guest pappajacks Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Dupree is only 19 years old. Give him some time, he can only get better.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Why should I give him time? His time should be spent away from my TV. This is the WWE - not amateur night.
Guest pappajacks Report post Posted June 17, 2003 There are a lot worse wrestlers than Dupree. You shouldn't get on Dupree's case until Steiner, Nowinski and Rodney Mack are released.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Well that's shitty logic. "You can't complain about the bad wrestlers until the worse wrestlers leave" So extending that, we can't talk about how good a wrestler is until better ones leave?
Guest pappajacks Report post Posted June 17, 2003 My point is that there are far bigger problems right now than Rene Dupree. Removing him from the picture will only give more time for an equally shitty wrestler. It's not like RVD and Jericho are going to get more airtime if they decide to dump Dupree. Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted June 17, 2003 I have nothing against Dupree or any other newcomers but the WWE is sussposed to be the big leagues. That means the best wrestlers are the ones that should be coming in. There's absolutely no excuse not to bring in guys like American Dragon, Lo Ki and Daniels when they're bringing in way less talented wrestlers. They should also be doing everything in their power to bring in established international veterans as well. I don't think it's a bad idea to have a few average wresters on the roster as it makes the other wrestlers look good in comparison but it's ridiculous what talent the WWE usually brings up in comparison to who they could be bringing up. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Dupree needs at least 5 more years before the WWE should even think about bringing him up. THAT'S the point. The WWE should be the peak, the pinnacle, the end-stop for every wrestler. Before that they should be developing their craft in school gyms so they don't have to when they're on national television. But hey, at least he looks good!

Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Look at it this way. You are Vince McMahon. You run the only big promotion in America. Money is no object to you. You can hire literally any wrestler in the world that you want to work for you. So you hire: Rene Dupree. 3 Minute Warning. Jackie Gayda. wtf?
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted June 17, 2003 I don't think Dupree and steroids is a joke though. He is only 19 (as pointed out above) when have you ever seen a 19 year old with a body like that (naturally)?

Guest nWoScorpion Report post Posted June 17, 2003 Problems with Low Ki and Daneils. They show more interest in working with Japan then having ANY kind of long term contract with one company in the states. Dupree I heard has been wrestling since he was 14 (my source is an idiot friend, so don't blame me). Grenier is the green one that should be developed more. As for bad workers, look at...three quarters of the RAW roster. As for 3MW, Jamal is history and Rosie is lucky to still be employed.
Guest Muzz Report post Posted June 17, 2003 I don't think Dupree and steroids is a joke though. He is only 19 (as pointed out above) when have you ever seen a 19 year old with a body like that (naturally)? I certainly haven't. I had no idea he was only 19, if he were older, he could get away with having that body type, but 19? I can see the point being made that the WWE should hire the best since they are the biggest and can afford to throw money around on a gamble, but at the same time, I don't think Dupree deserves to be put down as much as he is. For all we know, he might not have wanted to be on RAW in his current capacity, he might have wanted to wait too, but the WWE insisted on capitalizing on the ill feelings towards the French.
