NO MA'AM Hate Mail

Recommended Posts

Guest MrRant

I received 2 e-mails today via the Church Of NO MA'AM feedback system. Written by a Ms. Julie Brown (I can only assume Ms.):

#1

Message: I was just wondering why you think it is acceptable to have as your symbol a female sign with the international symbol for \"NO\" across it. As a woman, I find that really offensive. I saw someone wearing a T-shirt of yours in Las Vegas and decided to see what I could find out about a group that is so obviously and proudly misogynistic. Your website seems like typical stuff to me--boobs, sports, etc. It is really unimpressive and seems like a \'safe\' place for men who are uncomfortable with any characteristics or interests that are incompatible with what \"real men\" are supposed to be interested in. How limiting and narrowminded. Humans are way too complicated to draw such vast generalizations about one half of the population. Additionally, if I (or you, or most decent beings for that matter) saw someone on the street wearing a T-shirt that had the NO symbol over the word \"Jews\" or \"blacks\" or some other group besides women, I am quite sure that others would be offended and say so, as they rightly should. Sexism is one of the few \'isms\' that our society can still get away with calling a joke. Both men and women accept that and do not question it. Then people like myself (men included) who are offended by that kind of \"humor\" are labelled as man haters, lesbians, overly sensitive, etc. As I pointed out, if you had any other kind of T-shirt, that would probably not be the case. I just want to let you know that I personally am offended by your attempt to further divide men and women and to keep women down. Also, I\'m guessing that a lot of your members have Short Man Syndrome since you seem particularly threatened by tall women. Way to overcompensate.

One other thing--in your forums, one of your criteria for enemies of No Ma\'am is that they try to \"level the playing field.\" That sounds suspiciously like arguments against abolitionism. I just thought you might like to know that your intolerance and ignorance are putting you on par with KKK members. Also, you may as well put me on your enemy list because I plan on doing everything I can to level the playing field. And I\'m Amazonian.

Now whether these e-mails are real or made up... I don't care. I'm just proud to have created a reaction.

I'd say it's real, unless the person responsible for the Kevin Smith thing on VA is at work again.

These kind of women simply have no sense of humor. They're the same women that took The Man Show serious. We all know "No Ma'am" is partly tongue in cheek, but these women with no sense of humor can't grasp that.

Most women have this in-born inferiority complex to which any representation of them in any media outlet is a representation of all of them. (i.e. Us Women's Soccer Team wins; grrls rul!. "Grrl power flicks") That's why women's watch-dog groups get so annoying with how women are portrayed. Guys don't do this. I don't turn on C-SPAN and say "God look at all the MEN! This is very empowering to men everywhere!"

Someone should hit both of those fools in the head with Married With Children tapes so that they will finally see the light...

Not to mention that almost every woman I have ever known that is over 5'9" is angry because she has been made fun of her whole life because of her height.... My own half-sister is 6'5".

Hell, even I know that NO MA'AM is a joke for the most part... sheesh... that female needs to get a grip...

I know you're amused and proud, Rant, but that email is beyond sad to me.

I have a story for you guys.

I recently wore my No Ma'am t-shirt to school and I have this like ultra-liberal like 'i love everyone' kind of new aged teacher deal. So needless to say she wasn't to happy about the No Ma'am t-shirt. She says "as a woman who is proud to be a woman i am offended by your shirt." I tell her I am sorry but it really isnt my problem that you are offended. And she tries to make me turn the shirt inside out but i refuse. So we just go on with class and she doesn't do much else.

Then I am going to lunch and she was at lunch and saw me and pulled me over to the side. She had the Vice Principle with her and she has to make a big deal about this shirt and everything and how she finds it offensive. Then the VP looks at her and says "I see nothing offensive about the shirt at all and there is nothing I can do about it." And this ladies jaw just drops. Just another interesting story cause by No Ma'am.

You should of sent her a tape of softcore lesbian porn with a note attached saying "Just see what happens.".

And when will women realize the less big words they use on there "special equality" rampages the better?

Married With Children is one of my all time favorite shows. NO MA'AM may have been overused, but it was a great idea (and I'm a pretty leftist guy). I really don't see why it offends some women. It was just a running gag on a great show. Nothing to get upset or crazy about.

Yet another message:

Wow... I am really shocked that your members are so infantile as to assume that I am a lesbian because I am audacious enough to demand the same respect that men get. I am really a man hating bitch.... I am also apparently hilarious because I have a different viewpoint than the neanderthals on your website who often have difficulty with basic punctuation and spelling of the English language. What a moron I am. I\'m glad that your view of the world at large is so simple as to allow you to interpret everything in terms of \"Married with Children\". I am so impressed that your viewpoint of the world is filtered through a TV show. \"Neat.\"

Real or fake.. it is still interesting.

Well, I think I defended that statement in the actual post, so why don't you post some critique and stop being an ass.

I actually find women taller than me not intimidating at all, and I can be quite attracted to them, actually.

With that said, I'm not going to label her anything, as it seems that she's done enough of that herself, as well the rest of the posters in this thread. I just find it amusing there's such a fuss over an internet "group" based on a Married with Children parody of NOW.

i'm not the one who's making gross overgeneralizations about women, nor am i the one who obviously doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

nowhere in this post do i see ANY defense/evidence that women are born with an inferiority complex.

are most black people born with an inferiority complex too, since there's so many of THEM who are concerned with the way their group is represented on tv and in the movies?

Must be, since whenever I watch TV they're almost always represented as being the only funny and cool people on the face of the earth, and a member of any other race standing next to them is either weird/cracked-out, droll, less of a (insert gender here), or (misc.) white trash.

What TV show are you watching? Unless you were really exaggerating which would explain the jack-assery of your post.
