Who wants to see Randy Orton pushed down our...

Second, the only reason that Brock is where he is, is because he was shoved down our throats. But he can't really work a match.

Ugh....more complaining about Brock being pushed too hard. ;)

Give it a rest people. Brock was made into a complete main-eventer by it. There was NOTHING wrong with Brock getting a huge push. NOTHING.

Shoved down your throat? You DO have an off button on your TV.

Brock has pulled watchable matches out of Big Show and A-Train.

You really have no idea who you are talking to do you?

This is the first time I have ever said Brock was pushed down our throats. Because it was in comparison to somebody who actually has talent as a wresting superstar being pushed. Brock should be in the Olympics, not in the bizz!

Some guy named Johnson?

Implying that Brock has no talent?

Brock should be in the Olympics, not in the bizz!

Why is that?

Since you don't know who I am I'll tell you. I am an old school wrestling fan who has, in his old age, become a "smark", so to say. I like the old school type of wrestling...long fueds, stables, and storylines that made the show interesting.

And to answer your other question, Brock has talent, as a wrester, but not as a "rassler". He can't carry on a good fued because he can't work the mic. He can work a match, because he can wrestle. But that doesn't make him worth pushing down our throats. Orton, on the other hand, can work the mic a little. He can also work a match pretty damn good.

So I was comparing. You get it now?

Its people like you Johnson that offend me as WRESTLING fan.

You are an person ENTERTAINED by wrestling.

Wrestling entertains me.

Because Orton can cut a Indy level Glory seeking Shane Douglas/HHH/Shawn Stasiak type promo...Orton deserves to be shoved.

Guys like Orton are a dime a dozen. Good Looks, Good Mouth and Decent Wrestling Skills that are barely passable.

Lesnar is an Rarity in Wrestling.

Lesnar is the true evolution of Wrestling and it's athletes...

He is the ultimate Hybrid of an wrestler...Able to combine the elements of Shoot/Amatur skills along with his WWE Style Hoss power techiqunie and even meshes in some incredible agility and speed that HAS never been seen from such a monster sized performer.

But go ahead, Put the old tired gimmick wrestler that is Randy Orton, a wrestler whom only got where he is because of his Name and his looks along with his Mouth.

WRESTLING fans will take Brock Lesnar over Randy Orton gleefully.

Are we watching the same Lesnar?

They "pushed him down out throats" to make him a star...and it worked. He's an established main-eventer now. He's getting over quite well. He's the only new main-eventer they've made in the last year.

What should they have done with him then?

Damn, that was GOOD.

Why can't I make posts like that ;)

I wouldn't exactly call anything coming out of the WWE Developmental System "the true evolution of wrestling" cause, well, it's not.

Lesnar is highly athletic, yes. But the craft got lost in there. And I am a Lesnar-fan. He needs to incorporate more of that shoot-style in his wrestling as well.

Before I reply (and I am not trying to be a smart ass) please clarify what you meant by this...

I know it's a typo but I want to make sure I understand so neither of us look like an ass later.

I think it means you put more of an emphasis on Entertainment than wrestling. Ie: Mic Skills. The comment about being in the olympics probably spawned that.

If what RRR said is true then,

Isn't the reason we watch wrestle is to be entertained? I think that's what the intent of all promoters from day one was to entertain the audience they were in front of.

The fans are very receptive to guys like RVD, Jericho, Christian, Booker T, Benoit (specifically RR 03) but WWE tries to ignore the fans' responses towards the aforementioned wrestlers. Why???? Instead of capitalizing on RVD's momentum (Fall 01), for instance, they repress him into midcard hell. Why?

Let me try to justify the WWE logic...

RVD is a known pot head, and the WWE want's to shy away from the drug image.

Booker is retiring in 2 years.

Benoit is getting up there in age as well, and with the old neck injury, healed or not, could come back to haunt him and force him to retire.

Jericho....can't work the WWE style! Yeah, that's it!

All that being said, I'd like to see all of those guys pushed to the moon and hold the world belt again (or, in RVD's case, for the first time, although I don't EVER see that happening.)

As far as I see it, Randy Orton has all the qualities of an underwear model. But his father and grandfather were not in that industry, thus he's been mistaken as the future of wrestling or what not.

Posted

Hold on a second. Every day I come on his board and everyone's whining about how people like Undertaker and Shawn Michaels are holding people back and then when a young guy does get pushed - Orton, La Resistance - you're all developing Bell's Palsy over it.

Time to revise your prejudices, guys.

Choken, you have become what you "rebelled" against so long ago. Sad.

What's so wrong with Johnson liking what he likes? There's no "standard" to uphold. I mean geez, we're watching guys run around in underwear and a 56 year old man fooled by a fucking mask. The hero of most of these guys here is some midget with a missing tooth. That's laughable right there. But whatever.

Says it all about WWE in general, too.

Are you going to "give us a week to do it"?

No, their intent is to make money. Entertaining the fans does make money, but there are other factors.

I like Orton and its good to see at least some new blood getting a push. I'd like to see RVD and company pushed as well but some people here have the attitude "if my favorites can't be pushed, then no one can!" What exactly would halting Orton's push accomplish- would it somehow propel Booker T into the stratophere? One thing is not related to the other.

People bitch about Vince overlooking a generation of potential main-eventers, but conveniently forget Booker T and Benoit are in the same age bracket as Austin or Steiner (and older than HHH!). When these guys retire, Booker and friends won't be far behind. Benoit probably has a couple years at best left in him with all his injuries. And yes, Benoit definitely should hold the belt before then, but what does that have to do with Randy Orton?! I see people bitch Benoit should be getting Orton's push, but they're not even on the same show!

Orton's push (so far at least) has also not been nearly as shameless as Brock's last year, I should point out. When the announcers literally come out and beat over your head that Randy is "the next big thing" to the point it becomes a catchphrase, then we'll talk.

I'd also like to bring up that a lot of people were neutral to Orton until Evolution started. Ditto with Batista- people were actively cheering on his injury and forced retirement in one of the more disgusting displays I've seen on the forum lately. I don't know guys, disliking two newcomers because they're storyline buddies with the hated HHH seems a little- dare I say it- MARKISH...

Ah... but there are, say, X main event slots. If Randy is taking one up, then there will be one less slot available. Thus reducing Booker T's chances of being pushed.

Isn't that the same line of thinking that guys like HHH would use to hold on to their spots on the top?

I really don't see Randy literally main eventing anyway. His last opponent was Maven after all. They'll want him up there eventually but it will be a slow burn. Even HHH and Brock took about 6 months with their God pushes to get the belt. Orton's has only just started.

As far as Booker goes, this may ruffle a few feathers but he really isn't that good. He's been booked horribly from the beginning and deserves much more than he got, but people want to compare him to the likes of Jericho and Benoit, which is way off. I'd compare him to Steiner if anyone, and I don't see many people clamoring for his run with the title.

Shhhhh. Keep common sense like that to yourself or you won't last long around these parts.

Booker's better than Steiner.

I think so too, but he's closer to Steiner at this point then Jericho or Benoit. Name a phenominal Booker T match, if possible. His best stuff was years ago, against-you guessed it- Benoit. Also I made the comparison more along the lines they were both WCW champions near the end. Booker's done his share of main eventing, just not for Vince. I like Booker but I don't see him as some "hungry young lion" like some people here have been brainwashed into.

Triple H was never given a God push.

I don't blame you for repressing the memory, as it wasn't pretty to watch. But it happened and we're still feeling the aftershocks of it today. (Oh, and I found HHH a lot more boring in 1999 than I find Orton today.)

Posted

I remember when people her were "marks" for the dreaded Batista. I remember when they felt he should have had Brock's push. I remember when pairing him with Reverend D'Von was holding him back. Smarks can be fickle can't they?

I remember when Orton had the shoulder injury, and RNN was the big thing. In your typical RAW thread....

"RNN!"

"OMG! It's RNN!"

"LOL!"

"RNN!"

"Orton~!"

"RNN~! *marks out*"

"I bet HHH interrupts this."

"Yeah because HHH can't let ANYONE get over on HIS show. Orton is young, good on the mic, and not too bad of a wrestler, just a little green. He could get over easy, and that's why HHH is going to HHHold him down."

Remember those guys? That was only a few months ago. Now you're wishing injury on the guy? A career ending one at that. What if I wished RVD busted his head open on a table? Or Booker hurt his groin? Or Benoit broke his neck? I'd be a pretty bad guy.
