Guest Coffey Report post Posted June 23, 2003 Since when has wrestling ability ever mattered in determining a wrestlers push? The only thing "good" wrestlers do is lose to the bad ones to make them look better. Randy Orton has a look. That's pretty much all you need besides charisma to be successful in this business. Look at The Rock & Hulk Hogan. They both entertain me. Hell, look at "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. He was, if I'm not mistaken, the biggest money maker in wrestling history. Sure, he used to be able to wrestle, but in the WWE, every since his status became Main Event, he's pretty much been punch, kick, thesz press, mudhole stompings, stunner. Shit, when he was, arguably, the most over, he was feuding (and wrestling) against Vince McMahon. So, even if Austin was the best wrestler ever, he's not going to have the be all end all wrestling mat classic with 50 year old Vince. You people get so hung up on workrate, that I think you sometimes miss the fact that you're watching the WWE. The same WWE where workrate has pretty much NEVER strived. When Bret Hart was champ, who was he wrestling? Diesel, Taker & Sid. I say push Orton. He has the tools that he needs to succeed and make money in the WWE. Guest THE MIGHTY THOR Report post Posted June 23, 2003 Yeah, lets push Orton because he earned his spot by being injured for most of his rookie year. While Book, RVD and Benoit haven't busted their asses enough to get over with the fans and earn a real push at the sametime. Those non-wwe talent don't deserve to be main eventers in Vince's world. Guest LJSexay Report post Posted June 23, 2003 He's definitely got the look though, especially when it comes to attracting females to the show [like The Rock]. He has to be good for something..
Dangerous K89 0 Report post Posted June 23, 2003 I think Orton can be good to watch when he can "click" with a gimmick or whatever. Like, his stuff with insulting Bret in Canada and the updates he did on his injury was good stuff. But stuff like that promo he did with Mick last week just seemed so...forced. Felt like the writers gave him a script for him to repeat and act out.
