TheOriginalOrangeGoblin 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2003 "This is the first HBK video item made available to the public by the WWE since "Shawn Michaels: Greatest Hits From the HeartBreak Kid" was released by Colisseum Video back in 1996. So it should be apparent that this is a highly anticipated item for many wrestling fans out there. This two disc set offers up 7 classic Shawn Michaels matches in their entirety with loads of extras. That's right, these matches are un-edited and shown from start to finish. The seven matches are as follows: - AWA Tag Team Championship (1986) - IC Title Ladder Match from WrestleMania X - Iron Man Match from WrestleMania XII - No-Holds-Barred match against Diesel (includes alternate commentary by Shawn & Diesel) - Championship match against Mankind at Mind Games - Hell In a Cell 1 against the UnderTaker at Badd Blood - Comeback match against HHH at SummerSlam 2002 Prior to each match, you'll get a video highlight package with Shawn himself providing his thoughts about that particular match, and you'll be filled in on the match's build. The Extra's menu offers up even more goodies which revolve around the featured matches. Original TV spots, interviews, back stage segments, etc... As well as several other highlights from Shawn's career. Some of the extra's that are featured include: - The s visit to the Barbershop w/Brutus Beefcake - Promotional spots for WMXII, Badd Blood, & more - Shawn's training segments for the Iron Man match - Constructing the Hell In A Cell - Match of the year segment from the Slammys - Before They Were Superstars - The HBK story - Tell Me A Lie - Music Video To further compliment this item, the presentation of this product is well done. The DVD menus themselves are wll desgined and are put together with a pleasing asthetic quality. The background to the menus are essentially video highlights of the matches that are featured with the Shawn Michaels "Sexy Boy" them playing in the background. Also, a bonus hologram card is included with the insert. It depicts HBK flying off the top rope at HHH on a table from this past year's SummerSlam. A nice little goodie for you HBK fans. I must point out what you should not expect from this DVD. When you hear the name Shawn Michaels you might expect DX or the Screwjob to come up. That is not the case here. If you'd like more info on Shawn and the screwjob, as well as the match itself, I'd suggest the Confidential DVD. I was surprised that D-Generation X was only breifly tapped on during the pre-commentary for the Hell In A Cell match. Also, there's no commentary to be found on Shawn Michaels retirement in 1998, or the back injury which was escalated at the 1998 Rumble and led to his retirement. There is no commentary on the split of the s, or of Shawn's life since his early retirement. This DVD is predominantly wrestling, so don't expect too much as far as the interviews go. There is nothing on him being assaulted in Syracuse, nothing on him becoming a trainer... Truly there was a lot left out of this DVD. It would've been nice to have seen some more matches in this DVD, such as the somewhat unknown Intercontinental Championship Ladder match between Shawn Michaels & Bret Hart which was recorded at a house show, but never aired on WWE television. This match predates the original Ladder match against Razor Ramon which is on the DVD, unfortunately the WWE didn't have the brains to recall this rare footage. If you're an HBK fan even in the slightest then I must recommend this DVD. If you're a casual wrestling fan, or new to wrestling then this may not be for you. Seeing as how wrestling has changed drastically in only a few years, the pace of some matches may be too slow for some. However, if you're interested in learning more about HBK then this will help to fill you in on most of the key elements of his career. Pros: Loads of extras, several classic matches, a neat presentation, and a good source of HBK history. Cons: Limited interview topics, may not be everyone's cup of tea, and some colorful aspects of HBK's career were left out. Bottom Line: This is a great DVD which I would defenitely recommend for most all wrestling fans. It has enough charm to keep even the most die hard of HBK fans in a state of utter joy. And if anyone out there has worn out there tapes from watching some of these HBK matches far too often, and I know I have, then you'll want to pick this one up." Meh it's no "Hulk STILL Rules" but sounds ok.

Guest El Gigante Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Looks like a good buy. It's worth it just for the Barbershop segments alone because nothing beats seeing Marty getting thrown a window.
Guest Steviekick Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Regardless what was on it, I was definitely going to buy it. Now I have more reason to want it. I'll be anxiously awaiting it's arrival.

Bored 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2003 - AWA Tag Team Championship (1986) Holy shit...if this is what I think it is...Rockers vs. Buddy Rose & Doug Somers where everyone just bleeds all over the fuckin' place...wow.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Wow.....WWE's done NO PROMOTION WHATSOEVER for it. Shit, even Rey had a little, and he's not one of their boys.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted June 21, 2003 could've been a little better, but they can always be better. that's still one hell of a dvd. but if this is any indication of how they'll be doing it, i'm not looking forward to a bret dvd, cause it'll probably go something like... some hart foundation match bret v. bulldog, summerslam 92 bret v. flair title win bret v. owen, WM10 bret v. austin, WM13 canadian stampede ME bret v. benoit, owen tribute match with some little extras, maybe one or two of which would be worthwhile. and, considering what they have to work with, that's hardly worthy of being called a bret hart dvd. even if they make it a 2-disc set and pack it with stuff like they did with 'hulk rules', half of that would be one of those awful "stories of wrestler X's career" that are on almost every dvd. the smart thing would, of course, be to fill it to the brim with matches, but i don't see them doing that. same thing with an austin dvd. They didn't promote it until days before it came out. I guess they'll do the same thing here.

Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Could be wrong but I think the HBK / Bret ladder match made it on Prime Time Wrestling. It did take place at a PT taping... It did - it's on a Colliseum video I have, and also clipped on an old 9.99 Goodtimes WWF tape from late-1993 called "Most Unusual Matches".

What a waste of two discs. Well, 6 of the 7 matches are **** - three of them getting the elusive *****. I'd prefer this over 15+ Hogan DUD's..

Bored 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2003 BTW what ***** matches are that DVD? None to my count. Ummm you don't think the ladder match was *****? Ummm ooookaaay. You could definently make some arguments for Hell in the Cell and Mind Games as ***** as well and probably would even get a few people to say the Iron Man match was *****. The match with Diesel was excellent as well and definently Nash's best match ever. Also the AWA tag match, if its the one I'm thinking of, has to be seen to be believed. Not ***** mind you but let's just say Shawn WAS wearing white tights when the match started.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Iron Man is a 25 minute match as far as I am concerned... The Nash Brawl was better and more fun then the Iron Man... but we've seen the damn Ladder Match an BILLON times and it's old... Wasted spot that shoulda gone to the Marty Jannetty Match... If WWE knew its smark audience they would've put that match on there as it's SO FUCKING RARE.

King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Well, guess that decides which one I'm getting first, Rey's or HBK's. I've got every single match on the DVD already apart from the AWA Tag match. Not exactly blow away...although some of the segments look decent enough.
Guest Ray Report post Posted June 21, 2003 I've said it before, this DVD is disappointing. Putting the Mind Games match on there was a bad move, because it's already on Foley's DVD. 7 matches just isn't enough. Do we really need the FULL Iron Man? Surely they could have taken enough time out of this DVD to fit an awesome match like the Raw tag (Austin/HBK vs Owen/Bulldog). That match was great, and it was also for the tag titles, so it's an important part of his career. I like everything that's on there, I just want more matches. Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 21, 2003 The matches are great but the extra segments with the videos win it for me...
Guest RollingSambos Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Two matches that I wish were included: vs. Jeff Jarrett from IYH 2, and vs. Austin from King of the Ring '97.
Guest ManKinnd Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Two matches that I wish were included: vs. Jeff Jarrett from IYH 2, and vs. Austin from King of the Ring '97. I agree about vs. Jarrett, but the pacing of the KOR match with Austin is just so damn strage! I haven't watched it too recently but one glaring example is Ausitn military presses HBK onto concrete, then back in, he hits a chinlock! I remember thinking the whole logic behind what moves were done when was weird.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 21, 2003 I thought he did it because they were partners and he was having a complex...Do I kick my partners ass or "wrestle" him...I thought that was the lay out of the match. Good Call on the Jarrett match but Vince is never letting Jarrett look good on WWE tv as long as he lives. HBK/Jannetty Raw 1993 (cage Match) Rockers/Orient Express (Rumble 1991) HBK/Bulldog (KOTR96 or One night only) HBK/Flair (Invasion 1992) HBK/Austin Vs Owen/Bulldog (raw 97) any of those would've been fine
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted June 21, 2003 Iron Man Match = waste of space. Until the last half hour or so it was boring and no falls occurred at all. Plus it's a match from a WRESTLEMANIA and is widely available.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted June 21, 2003 The Iron Man really should just been spliced to a Highlight reel.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted June 21, 2003 My biggest beef is with putting the SummerSlam 02 match on there, as that's not only widely available, but you can still order that whole show pretty much anywhere. It's worth a look though, I think.
