Freddy vs. Jason

Recommended Posts

I don't know if I posted this ealier, but even critics who hated the film are saying that Kelly Rowland and the Stoner dude had standout performances...

About Jason, I'm pretty sure he's only afraid of water on his dreams. In real life, he's on a mission to kill, he's not going to let his own fear get in the way of slicing up a teenager.

The Friday the 13th movies I'd reccomend are:

1-4: It's like a whole different series in itself. The movies weren't jokes yet, and actually took themselves seriously.

6-7: The emergence of Zombie Jason. These movies are pure fun.

The best Nightmare movies are 1 and 3.

Yeah, to me whenever I think of a Jason movie I think of Jason circa FT13th 6-8. The first movie had his mom as the killer, the 2nd had him with a sack over his head, the 3rd one he got the mask fairly late in the film and wasn't seen much otherwise, and in 4 he is killed by Corey Feldman (haha). I'm not sure what all happens in 5 since I haven't seen that one.

But 6 is where Jason became the totally no selling beast we all know today. It's one of the most fun entries. 7 is amusing as well as he takes on the chick with psychic powers and trashes Bernie (Terry Kiser) with a weed whacker.

I'm one of the few who likes Jason Takes Manhattan apparently. Perhaps I just like the ending with Jason drowning in toxic waste?

The Major Point I loved about the movie is that it kept continuity on both sides of the series, which I thought was vital...

Wait...I've only seen Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, and the first F13th.

So could anyone give me like a rundown of each movie and how he is defeated and what he acts like(since everyone is talking about how he was normal in the first 4 and a zombie in the others). Or direct me to a place that does?

I'll do it. No spoiler tags, so stop if you don't want it spoiled.

Two: Elephant Man mask, acts like a mute, retarded hillbilly. he has his mother's head and her sweater in his shack, the girl puts the sweater on and distracts him with the head, he takes either an axe or a pickaxe (can't remember) to the head, but he jumps through the window in the end, so he didn't die

Three: Like part two, but he acts more phantom like and shadowy. Gets the mask, but shows the girl his face at the end, cause she saw him in the woods when she was young. He's hanged and gets an axe in the face. The girl sees him alive afterwards but is probably hallucinating.

Four: Acts pretty much the same as three. Takes more shit and keeps going, but could still be human. Takes a machete to the side of the head, falls on it and it slices through his face. Tommy Jarvis appears.

Five: Some guy dressed up as Jason as an alibi for avenging his son's death. Falls onto farm instruments and dies. Tommy Jarvis puts the mask on. He was meant to be the next Jason, but no go.

Six: Tommy digs him up and stabs him with a gate post, lighting strikes it and he comes back to life, and now he's definitely a zombie. He refuses to kill some children. Tommy chains him to a rock at the bottom of the lake but he's still alive.

Seven: I can't remember how he came back this time... he's fully into his current incarnation by this point. Telekinetic girl calls her dead father out of the lake, he drags Jason down.

Eight: He's lying at the bottom of the lake and some electrical cables reinvigorate him. He gets hit with a flood of toxic waste in the NY sewers and turns back into a (non mongoloid) boy, but this never ammounted to anything.

Ok...so in the 2-4 did he look like a total freak? Because I mean...he's screwed up without the mask.......and so he's more human in the others but then just becomes a total badass monster after the lightening strikes....right........but then in Jason Goes to Hell didn't they explain it as something to do with Demons taking over his body?

Actually I think it just comes down to the fact that the people that made this movie didn't care about the other movies or the characters and just made up whatever crap they wanted to.

To add more to IDRM's post:

Part 2-

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Jason takes a machete into his shoulder, not his head. You can see Jason take the machete out of his shoulder at the beginning of part 3. Also, I think that Jason jumping through the window was a dream sequence.

Part 4-

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

After Tommy slices Jason's head, he sees Jason's fingers twitch. Tommy goes nuts and repeatedly hits Jason with the machete, while screaming "Die! Die!"

Part 7-

Spoiler (Highlight to Read):

Jason was brought back to life by the telekinetic girl (Tina). Tina was trying to bring back her father (who was also in the lake), but brought back Jason by mistake.

Can someone do the same for me, but with the Nightmare series?

FOR THE LOvE OF GOD SPOILERS DON't READ OR YOUR LIFE WILL BE OVER!!!!111!

ANOES: Freddy is in his most sadistic and cruel form here, always in the shadows and not cracking jokes or saying much, unlike most of the sequels. Probably the scariest Freddy. Nancy kills him by taking him out of the dreamworld and setting him on fire, but he still is alive and Nancy beats him in a weird way (see the Nighmare on Elm Street ending thread that discussed this)

ANOES 2: pretty much the same as part 1, he talked a bit more but he was still cruel and serious in this one. In this one Freddy posseses a guy named Jesse so he can kill in the real word, in the end he's kinda kiled by Jesse's girlfriend with the power of looooooove or something like that.

ANOES 3: Freddy here is kinda like Dred in F vs. J, cruel but he has more personality and cracks a joke or a one liner here and there, but he still wsan't a full comediant here. In this one he battles a group of kids in a hospital, but this kids in their dreams have powers to fight him. He's killed when one guy and Nancy's father go to Freddy's grave and use holy water in his bones.

ANOES 4: the first 'MTV Freddy' version, he's pretty funny here and not scary, well maybe for a few seconds. He cracks jokes in every freaking scene. He's killed by Alice in the dreamworld, Alice is the dream master so she can do it, all of Freddy's victims star coming out of his body killing him.

ANOES 5: here's the worst Freddy imo, he looks old for some reason and isn't scary at all. He's note even funny and the jokes fall flat. He's killed by Alice and her son in their dreams, when Freddy's mom (Amanda Krueger) takes him away and traps him (but not for long.......uuhh.....)

ANOES 6: Freddy is at his funniest here and not scary one bit. This is a comedy, and a good one(for me at least). He's killed when his daughter takes him out to the real world and attacks him with his own glove, ninja stars, knives, etc. He finishes him off with a pipe bomb.

WCNN: here Freddy is pretty different to the one in all the others, i guess he's kinda like Freddy in ANOES 1, but he's more demonic here. And also looks very different with a new sweater(sucks) new leather pants(sucks!) a cool coat and a new cool bio claw. He's very evil in this one and serious. He's killed by Nancy and his son in the dreamworld in Freddy's lair, when they shove him into some kind of oven, Hansel & Gretel style!

New Nightmare was pretty cool b/c he was balls to the wall scary and a hardcore killer. Plus he just looked kind of cool.

Well that's pretty much b/c it wasn't him...it was just the evil in the world taking on the shape of Freddy(at least that's what I hear).

Being a hardcore Nightmare and Friday fan, I'm about to give the complete history on both characters and the films.

CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS

Freddy Kreuger: Freddy Kreuger was the offspring of a gang rape to his mother. The son of a hundred thousand bastard maniacs. He had a tormented childhood full of being made fun of, and his father used to abuse him. One day his father tried to abuse him, and Fred just took it and smiled, and proceed to kill him. Freddy got married and had a daughter. A theory based on Freddys Nightmares has Freddy being an Ice Cream Man, using that as a lure to kidnap kids and kill them. He got caught, went to jail, and his lawyer got him off at the trial. Somewhere in here they take away his daughter. So the parents take it in their own hands to burn him alive, and they do. But wait, the dream demons are in luck cause they've found the most sadistic guy in the world, perfect for the job of killing people in their dreams. They offer Fred the power, he accepts, and boom, you got Freddy Kreuger. His motive is that he wants to hurt the children of the parents who burned him. Later his big motive is explained to be that he wants to make them pay for taking away his daughter.

NOES 1- You have to imagine that Freddy is new on the job, so he's not in one liner mode yet. He's just getting comfortable, and taking his new found power more seriously. In this movie, Fred kills a couple teenagers who have sex, and than finds his first real nemesis in Nancy. Nancy figures out the source of Freddys Power, and realizes that all you have to do is bring him out of the dream into the real word, and than he's human. So she does, but things go wrong. Some ancient book says that demons back in the day got their power from fear, and that if you stopped believing in them, they'll go away. She does that with Freddy, who dissapears. The next morning she's about to go to school when some weird shit happens and Freddy kills her mother. A theory on this is that the whole movie was just a dream by Nancy, sort of like a big premonition, and the very end is the only real thing that happened. Who knows though.

NEO2- This movie sucks. It's a couple of years later, and a new kid moves into Nancys old house. He finds her diary, reads about her troubles, and than some weird shit begins to happen. Freddy has some elaborate plan to get into this kids body and use it to kill in the outside world. The plot is stupid though, and doesn't fit in with the rest of the series. Not to mention the lead character is very gay. The ending is cool though, as Freddy reveals that he's still ticking.

NEO3- The 2nd best in the series behind the first. Kids who have been having trouble with a certain killer are all in a hospital full of doctors who can't figure out whats happening. They figure the only way to cure the kids is to make them go to sleep and face their dreams. The kids are called dream warriors, which happens to be the name of the movie. This movie intoduces the plot that someone call pull another person into their dreams. This is the same hospital from FVJ, so it ties in pretty well. Freddy has killed a bunch of teens at this point, and is really starting to love his job. Instead of taking things serious, he does elaborate dream sequences to kill his victims. He also reveals one of the greatest one liners in the series "Welcome to Primetime bitch". He's still dark and evil, just having fun now. This movie marks the return of Nancy, who comes to the hospital to help, and her father from the first one. Somehow they figure if they bury the bones of Freddy, he'll just die. So they do it, and hey, they think he dies. The kids are all decent actors, including Patricia Arquette, and Lawrence Fisbourn has a small role. Good overall movie, and Nancy bites the bullet in the end.

NOES 4- The Dream master stars the 3 survivors from the last one, but they're all killed off in the first 15 minutes, bummer. Freddy is ressurected when a dog pisses on his grave...you read that right. Freddy, absolutely loving his job now, plays with his victoms. He knows his true invincibility, and knows he can't be beat, so he conjures up more elaborate dream sequences to kill his prey. One particalar funny sequences is with this guy who's into Karate, Freddy takes care of him good. Freddys mom appears in this one also, as she did in part 3, giving tips to the heroin and so forth. The lead character is now Alice, and someway or another, Freddy bites the bullet in the end again. Not as good as 3, but good non the less.

NOES 5- This movie sucks too. Alice returns, pregnant. Problem is, she keeps seeing her child in her dreams. Freddy has become friends with her child in her dreams, who is named Jacob. Jacob in the dreams trust Freddy, and Freddy treats him like a little brother. In full comedy mode, Freddy kills Alice new friends in true comic book ways. Another funny ass one liner is when he makes this bulemic chick eat all this food until she explodes. He than says "Bon Appetite Bitch"! At the end, Jacob turns on Freddy, goes with his mother. And Freds mother tries to get rid of Freddy for good only to have Freddy burst from her stomache.

NOES 6- All the kids in Elm Street have been wiped out, so it would seem Freddys job is done. He's gotten his revenge, and now he can just go away....but Freddy has other plans. Theirs actually one survivor left on Elm Street. An unnamed guy, who in the original script, is actually Jacob from the 5th one. So Jacob is the only teenager left, and he has amnesia. A shelter some place else finds him and a girl tries to help him figure out his past. They go back to Elm Street, with a couple of troubled kids hiding in the back. The kids, being the smart ones, find a house on Elm Street to stay in while the girl and Jacob got try to find Jacobs roots. This movie makes no attempts at horror, Freddy is the hero now, he spits one liners left and right, and laughs hysterically at the way he disposes of his victims. If you love funny Freddy, this is the movie for you. He kills Jacob, right before thanking him for bringing him his daughter! It all comes full circle as Freddy finds out that his daughter is the only person who can bring him what he wants. As Freddy says "Every town has an Elm Street"! He now has the abilities to make an Elm Street wherever he wants, and kill whatever teenagers he wants. At first, it was all about revenge, but Freddy loves killing teens so much that he can't stop. Freddys daughter brings him into the real world ala Nancy, and blows him up with Dynamite. At this point, the Dream Demons temporary leave Freddy who ends up in his own Hell. This leads into Freddy pulling down Jasons mask in Jason Goes to hell.

New Nightmare: Not a member of the rest of the series. You have to ignore it for FVJ to make sense. Now all that was off the top of my head, but I can tell you I'm a much bigger Jason fan. I'll do my F13th write up in a little while, and THAT will tell you everything in the history of Jason Vorhees.

New Nightmare could have been way cooler than it was though. It was a solid movie, but there was a chance there to do some really crazy stuff. Despite the unique premise of Freddy coming out of the movie and haunting the actors and Craven himself, the movie basically comes down to the usual "Freddy stalking the chick" plotline.

I would have liked to have seen more with Robert Englund as himself and him being haunted by Freddy. Then you could have a wild ending with Robert Englund killing off Freddy, which would be pretty mindblowing.

You don't have to ignore it for FvsJ to make sense, not at all. You have to keep in the mindset that New Nightmare was REAL, it was a movie, it wasn't fake, it happened in the real world, it was Freddy in the real world.

While on the otherhand, obviously, FvsJ is a film, a movie, a script being presented on the big screen by actors.

While New Nightmare has nothing to do with FvsJ, you don't have to ignore it. You just have to keep it in the right mindset as it is meant to be.

in WCNN, i would've loved it if the Demon Freddy from New Nightmare haunted Englund in his dreams, and the coolest thing ever would have been Englund turning into classic Freddy in the dream(like the dream warrior's powers) and fighting the new one.

i actually dreamed that once, and it was AWE-SOME!

FvsJ was probably the best from either series in years.

I was pleased to say the least. The corn field scene was classic.
