Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted June 24, 2003 TNA WRESTLING HIRES iN DEMAND EXECUTIVE TNA ENTERTAINMENT OPENS NEW YORK OFFICE June 24, 2003 (Nashville, TN)—TNA Entertainment announced today that it has hired Frank Romano as Chief Operating Officer. Romano was Vice President of Event Programming & Operations for iN DEMAND. In addition, TNA Entertainment also announced the opening of a TNA office in Manhattan. Romano will work out of the New York branch. TNA Entertainment produces TNA Wrestling, the first-ever weekly wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) series available in the United States on iN DEMAND, DirecTV, TVN, plus Viewer’s Choice in Canada and Bell Expressvu in Canada. “Frank has been a supporter of TNA since its debut in June of 2002, and we’re thrilled to have him on board,” said Jeff Jarrett, founder and executive vice president of TNA entertainment. “TNA’s first year has been extremely successful, and Frank’s experience and enthusiasm for the product will accelerate the company’s growing success.” “I’m looking forward to utilizing my experience in the pay-per-view industry for TNA. With TNA being the only 52 week, live pay-per-view programming, we have a unique opportunity,” Romano said. “TNA has a very progressive business structure, and it has quickly established itself as the definitive alternative to WWE in the market of wrestling and sports entertainment.” Both Jarrett and Romano are excited about the New York office. “Establishing a presence in New York will solidify TNA as a major player in the industry,” Jarrett said. The New York office opened for business June 23, 2003. For further information on NWA TNA, visit www.NWATNA.com. How exactly will this help TNA? This is obviously the major announcement Borash was talking about.

syxx2001 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2003 UH, tell me where it says this is Borash's big announcement? Maybe it is, but you are just pissing people off for no reason making assumptions. No disrespect, but you shouldn't just down everyone like that with no proof.
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted June 24, 2003 This is obviously the big announcement dude. They aren't going to put "this is Borash's big announcement" in a press release.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2003 It's probably just an office in name only. It makes them sound like more of a professional outfit if they say they've got a New York office. It does bode well for them going out on the road though... Guest geniusMoment Report post Posted June 25, 2003 I can just imagine tomorrow night. The smoke engulf's the ring. A dazzling light show fills the arena with a mix of colored lights. Fireworks blast out of the ring posts. Borash is lowered from the ceiling on a podium, like Jackal was in the WWF, and in the center of the ring proclaims, "We have opened an office in New York. And yes it has a oak desk and an apple computer."
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 25, 2003 And then the sound heard is the collective grunts of nearly 300 pissed-off rednecks from Tennessee and beyond as they rush the ring, calling for the head of Kermit The Announcer.

syxx2001 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2003 yea, what business does Raven have making longer uninteresting promos and AJ Styles, A CRUISERWEIGHT, WINNING THE HEAVYWEIGHT BELT? Never mind that ultra cool X Division match from last week or the hot tag match. FUCK a cage. Who needs a cage to stop the 3rd person from interfering all of the time? Stupid ass TNA Hickertainment. You obviously missed my point. I'm talking about shit like Russo hogging airtime with his boring promos, the Goldilocks cell phone segment, the possible unmasking of Sharkboy tonight, and many other bad angles that have happened in TNA before during Russo's creative stint with them(anyone remember the Dupp Cup?). syxx2001, what you need to realize is that TNA is no more perfect than WWE as the shows are very inconsistent in quality, and I'm getting sick of reading you defend them every chance you get. Admit their mistakes, stop covering them up. For anyone wondering, I'm not trying to defend WWE. Edited June 25, 2003 by Raven_Effect01
Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted June 25, 2003 I like Russo's promos. I agree the Goldylocks segment was useless and boring. The only problems I have with TNA is that every main event has massive interference. It is okay once in a while to have a match with a clean finish.

Cruiserweights don't win heavyweight titles in WWE? Shawn Michaels weighs only 225 lbs. The problem with syxx is that whenever he defends TNA he always tries to do it by putting down WWE- I fail to see how that makes TNA look good

syxx2001 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2003 I defend them because they show potential. Name the last good WWE show. Name the last good TNA show. You will see that the WWE is king of inconsistentcy. And I note their problems or faults or whatever, but I wont go on a rant about them because their good things outweight their bad things most of the time. On the episode with the Goldilocks cell phone thing, no one gave credit for putting on a good or decent X-Division earlier in the night. Or the good handicapped tag team match or the AJ Styles/Dlo vs AMW match. And I dont really think a 5-8 minute Russo promo is exactly hogging air time. When Vince put on 20 minute promos in 98 and 99 did anyone say he hogged air time? And yes, we all remember the Dupp Cup. Does anyone remember the early days of the X-Division? Or AJ Styles breaking the cruiserweight barrier? Or Triple X actually putting out good tag team wrestling? Hardly anyone, if anyone, talks about the good stuff here. The show could have Low Ki vs Styles vs Red in a 25 minute spotfest classic, Raven vs Jarrett in a cage, Triple X vs AMW vs The New Church in a TLC match for the Tag belts and a Russo promo and everyone will say "DAMMIT. Im sick of this. Russo is on every episode and wont leave. If they keep up this shit, they can kiss my 10 dollars goodbye." I'm not saying Russo is the best mic worker in the world, but he isn't the worst thing on TV. For one, you will never, EVER find anything on TV that has good matches for every match on the card. Or will you find something on TV that is good all of the time. Until ROH comes on syndicated TV, that will never happen. And two, give the man some credit. He books some bad stuff along with his good stuff and he also took himself off of TV for a few months VOLUNTARILY. Can say the same for alot of people who have the chance to do whatever they want with something.
syxx2001 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2003 If HBK only weights 225 pounds, then whoever wrote that TNA preview when Styles first competed for the NWA belt needs to get their facts straight about a cruiser finally getting a title shot or whatever.
Guest Devin Report post Posted June 26, 2003 Name the last good WWE show. Name the last good TNA show Smackdown, last Saturday (at least here in SoCal). One Year Anniversay, last Wednesday. I'll be the first to admit, I'm a TNA mark. But that doesn't blind me to the negatives in the product, or the positives in the WWE's.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted June 26, 2003 The WWF title was not a recognized NWA title. It was not even a "World" title. Thus, whoever said that AJ Styles is the first cruiserweight to get a shot at the NWA World Heavyweight title is 100% correct. And the Dupp Cup was BEFORE Russo was in TNA.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 26, 2003 And the Dupp Cup was BEFORE Russo was in TNA. I read some of Dames' old Diatribes and the Dupp Cup was when Russo was in TNA.

Guest bob_barron Report post Posted June 26, 2003 Name the last good WWE show. Do you mean PPV or TV? If you mean PPV then Wrestlemania XIX. And besides- RAW is free. TNA costs $10. You will see that the WWE is king of inconsistentcy. And TNA isn't? TNA is widly inconsistent. One week they'll do a very good blow away show and the next week Buff Bagwell and Rick Steiner will make surprise appearamces. The tag match you mentioned wasn't really that good anyway and made absolutely no sense from a booking standpoint. The show with the cell phone of doom sucked and showed one of the biggest problems TNA has. They SUCK at sports entertainment. A lot of people were dogging them for the cell phone skit since it was a collasal waste of money, didn't help get anyone over, took time away from potentially good matches and didn't serve one purpose. And I dont really think a 5-8 minute Russo promo is exactly hogging air time. When Vince put on 20 minute promos in 98 and 99 did anyone say he hogged air time? Again- Are you referring to RAWs or PPVs? A lot of people did get on Russo for putting promos on PPV. If you're talking about TV I'll reiterate my point- RAW is free. TNA is $10. When Russo is awful on the mic and cuts the same cheap heat promos week after week- it is hogging air time. Wow- Russo thinks Southerners are rednecks? That makes me want to buy a PPV. And yes, we all remember the Dupp Cup. Does anyone remember the early days of the X-Division? Or AJ Styles breaking the cruiserweight barrier? Or Triple X actually putting out good tag team wrestling? People do praise TNA for that. I think it's great that TNA has this vast talent pool that can put on great matches at the drop of the hat. TNA should concentrate on exploting that instead of overbooking matches and having 10-20 minute interviews. If they keep up this shit, they can kiss my 10 dollars goodbye." You're wrong here. The 12.18 show had a long Russo interview segment but that show became one of the most widely praised shows in TNA hidtory. I'm not saying Russo is the best mic worker in the world, but he isn't the worst thing on TV. He's right up there. For one, you will never, EVER find anything on TV that has good matches for every match on the card. Or will you find something on TV that is good all of the time. No one is asking for a show with great matches. The 5.21.01 RAW had two shitty matches and the 9.24.02 Smackdown! didn't have **** matches from top to bottom. People aren't demanding perfection like you think they are. They just want bang for their buck. And two, give the man some credit. He books some bad stuff along with his good stuff and he also took himself off of TV for a few months VOLUNTARILY. Can say the same for alot of people who have the chance to do whatever they want with something. Russo has done some good in the past. He took himself off TV voluntarily? Give that man a cookie. Problem is- Russo came back. And while he was gone- He obviously didn't work on cutting good promos.
syxx2001 0 Report post Posted June 26, 2003 Actually I was talking about McMahon, not Russo with the "in 98 and 99" statement. And question? How many fo you actually pay for the TNA ppvs? Im not talking about a black box or anything, Im talking about taking your money and giving it to your parents, if you still live at home, to pay for it. There seems to be alot of people talking about paying 10 dollars, but I wonder if they are telling the truth or just trying to fit in with the no income crowd.
