I don't like the gameplay of any of the SmackDown! games, I prefer the "No Mercy" type of gameplay

The totally rehauled the gameplay and graphics, dude.

In the movie in another thread in this forum, it doesn't look like the gameplay has changed at all. It still looks as though the moves have no effect and it's all down to random button bashing.

I really hope I'm wrong though.

You are certainly wrong. The buttons for HCTP have TOTALLY been revamped. Here is the list of probably buttons...it has been confirmed by THQ themselves, but they can *possibly* be changed:

Circle = Grapple - Strong/Weak + Direction

Triangle = Run

X = Hit/Kick

Square = Pick up weapon

Analog Stick:

Left = Walk/Move around

Right = Taunt

Directional Pad = Walk/Move around

R1 = Change Direction (who you're looking at)

R2 = Grapple Reversal

L1 = Finisher

L2 = Hit Reversal

I hope that this brings hope to people, because I have heard how it works. It will work like this:

The Rock....if you hit -> and tap O - you will do a body slam

If you hit -> and HOLD O - you will do The Rock's DDT

and so fourth. They will be emphasizing on button sensativity. I hope this gets your guys' hopes up now!

So instead of 4 grapple moves for each level of grogginess, there will be 8?

As long as it is made by Yukes the gameplay will continue to suck and be halfassed.

More moves is fine by me.

I don;t have that much of a problem with Yuke's system, though there has to be an alternative to excessive button mashing.

hell I wish they'd just get rid of levels of grogginess alltogether.

And the auto-grapple pick up too. How am I supposed to hit any LARIATOOOOOOOOOOS~! if I get stuck in a grapple every time i knock someone down?

simple.

do a punch or toe kick, back your wrestler up and run at them and nail them.

the computer does it to me all the time, usually off of a grapple or irish whip reversal.

I hope they made reversals much more effective, not to even mention EASIER to do. I thought they made them too easy in Just Bring It, but they were too uncommon in SYM. Irish whip reversals are almost non-existant and no, I don;t mean the arm-wringer-kick-to-midsection reversal. Just a simple reversal.

SYM was a step forward in the right direction... i hope HCTP continues that trend.

I don't have that much of a problemw ith the game plays... but the SD games are so fast and the selling is so spotty. It would be nice to see a portion of the matches if they go long where the guys have to spend some time recovering for a rally. Not so much the realism, but more akin to how the real wrestlers actually perform in the ring. Otherwise, the controls are ok even if the AKi stuff is better. Its not like its Thunder.

The selling is fine... someone selling, say, a body slam, arches his back and puts his hand back there, usually allowing you to get a few extra stomps or an elbow drop in, inflicting more damage.

The selling is alrite for body slams. But when you walk off the cell for the 150th time( I hope to god they change the cell and table physics) they sell like they been shot with a cannon \.......................then they stand up after falling 25 feet! THE HELL?

The selling of that fall is utterly hilarious in SYM. I enjoy doing it.

I love laying out guys on tables and SSPing them through them.... almost as much as I love using super powerbomb 2 to throw them through annouce tables.

Yuke's system relies a little too much on button mashing, and AKI's relies too much on pinpoint precision. There just has to be a happy medium someplace.

Anymore info on the Legends on the game? Will they have their music and such? I hope so.

What they need to understand is that if, say, RVD takes a Pedigree, then it is insulting to our intelligence to have him nip up seconds later and race around as though he hasn't been touched.

Fatigue and damage to a wrestler need to be taken into greater consideration in HCTP. Hopefully, it will.

I dunno, for RVD that's pretty realistic selling...

The two most annoying things in SYM:

If you hit your finisher or another big move, your opponent will usually lay on the mat for a while and then get up slowly, selling fatigue. That's fine and dandy. BUT if you cover him and it gets only two or Rope Break, he IMMEDIATELY gets up like nothing happened. That's just a stupid flaw in the game's engine.

And the fact that you can't break submission holds in tag matches. The only thing you can do is to attack the referee. That's just wrong.

Hey, anything to keep from losing the match...

As for taking finishers, it all depends when you execute it. There are very few times I have seen in the game where a wrestler pops up like a daisy after taking a finisher, even in the beginning of a match. They will lie there for at least 5-10 seconds, much longer if you hit them with the finisher after you have beat them down.

Remember, as good as the technology gets, it cannot faithfully mirror the "real thing". There are bound to be some things in a game that are not realistic to an actualt match. Do I think that they need to change some things to make it more realistic? Of course.

Way too many rope breaks when trying to make a pin. Something has to give there.

How about we ELIMINATE THE REFEREE ALTOGETHER?!

I can't get over the amount of times that EARL FUCKING HEBNER has caused me to screw up because he conviniently got in the way of one of my big moves. The ref is a TOTAL waste of time and a complete and utter annoyance that hinders gameplay.

Sometimes I become so frustrated that I just call my brother in to take care of my opponent in a handicap match while I proceed to rip Hebner's body to pieces via a Benoit special.

Fuck you, Earl.

You too, Dave.
