Guest Phoenix Fury Legdrop Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 From Gabe Sapolsky at the ROH message board.... Jeff Hardy has just agreed to wrestle on the 7/19 "Death Before Dishonor" show. Jeff requested a match against his protege Krazy K and former Omega alumni Joey Matthews. The three-way is now set for the can't miss show of the summer!!! I just hope Jeff shows up clean and ready to work. I'm surprised Joey Matthews is back, considering he left ROH for XPW, and Feinstein seemed to blackball anyone who had worked for XPW.
Guest WhenDanSaysJump Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Wow... I have an uneasy hunch that Jeff may end up getting the Konnan treatment from the fans.
Guest Dangerous A Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Wow... I have an uneasy hunch that Jeff may end up getting the Konnan treatment from the fans. It's hard to tell with the ROH crowd. If Jeff brings his working boots, he'll be fine. Remember, Konnan hasn't looked good in the ring since the 90's.
Guest Dangerous A Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 I don't really like Jeff Hardy, but I think he'll do fine in ROH because he's a high spot guy and that's what the ROH fans will like him for.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Yeah, but his high spots suck. He's going to get boo'd out of the building and the "Don't Come Back" chant.
Guest Dangerous A Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 I'd have to get me a copy of that if it happened. That'd be funny as hell.
Mecha Mummy Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 If the RoH crowd boos Jeff out of the building I'm going to laugh my head off and then promptly order the tape.
Guest Sandman9000 Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Put me down on the "Jeff's gettin' Konnaned" list. It's gonna take a lot more then a sudden reverse into '97 Jeff Hardy mode in order to please the ROH crowd. Except for the extra 15 teenage girls that will be at the show, thanks to Jeff. To all going: bring earplugs.
JustJoe2k5 Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 If he can shift into '98-'99 OMEGA Jeff Hardy he'll be a great fit for Ring of Honor. There is a big difference between Konnan and Jeff Hardy and that is Jeff Hardy can wrestle more than one minute without nearly passing out and he has a pretty big arsenal of moves. I just think it was WWE that wasn't letting him show everything he's got. Jeff Hardy vs. Joey Matthews vs. Krazy K should be good.
Guest Black Tiger Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 If anyone reading this goes to that show *COUGHBobBarronCOUGH* start a "we want Matt" chant
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 If he's going to be there full time, they should put him with Special K. As sort of the King Curtis Iaukea figure to the Dungeon of Doom. King Raver, who lives in a throne of Hello Kitty dolls and Ecstasy Pills.
Guest Markingout Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 IF hes with Special K... Talk about gimmick being real life. LOL I hope Jeff knows he just cant hit 3 spots and leave thinking that he will steal the show.
Chunk Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 I hope Jeff knows he just cant hit 3 spots and leave thinking that he will steal the show. I hope that spurs him on to working a decent match. I would f'n love it if he busted his ass and made all his haters eat their hats. That would be outstanding, because too many people are far to negative towards everything. If the RoH crowd boos Jeff out of the building I'm going to laugh my head off and then promptly order the tape. Perhaps its just me, but I really can not understand that mentality. True hes pissed his own career away, but how does hat harm any of us. Its not liek we even have to watch his dire performances any more. The way some people go on, you'd think hed murdered someone or something.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 I am going to this show and Jeff Hardy will get no love from me. BTW- if Jeff gets Konnaned- They'll edit out of the tape. WE WANT MATT! DON'T COME BACK! I got the chants ready
Guest bababooey Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 forget his workrate or his sloppy highspots, if he shows up with all that white out on his arm i guarentee that he get's konnaned (or johnhoped or icp'd if you weel)
Guest Nevermortal Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Dammit, why can't he be fighting Samoa Joe?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 If he's going to be there full time, they should put him with Special K. As sort of the King Curtis Iaukea figure to the Dungeon of Doom. King Raver, who lives in a throne of Hello Kitty dolls and Ecstasy Pills. There's no such thing as "full time" in the indies. Jeff's work was still enjoyable around the time of Invasion, but goddamn he went sour and got unwatchable. I'd like to see him turn things around though.

Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 I'm going there for the Briscoe Bros. and Samoa Joe, but if Jeffy gets the Konnan treatment you'll hear about it from me guys. Barron, maybe we'll see each other there. That would be cool.

That's what it comes down to for me.

This is the guy who was paired up with the #1 female in the company and continued to be lacadasial. This is the guy who had a singles match v. The Rock and was lethargic and dogged the match. This is the guy who had the opportunity to turn his life around- WHILE still earning a paycheque yet he refused. What slack should I cut him?

But I just think its stupid to go to ROH with the intention to boo the crap out of the bloke no matter what performance he puts in. Say if getting dumped by Vince was the boot up the arse he needed, and now he is determined to work his arse off to get back to the top, you still wouldn't give him the chance to do so. I guess its just the negative attitude that pisses me off. We both know that peope will pay money simply to go and boo him a ROH. Im just saying give him fair chance work a decent match in ORH before you boo him. If he comes out at ROH to a chorus of boos, what does that achieve really
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 They pushed him well, even over HHH for the IC title. So I can't feel too bad for the guy. I liked his 99-mid 01 work and like I said earlier, I'd like to see him get his shit together.

Fine, then "if he becomes a regular". Sheesh.

PsychoDriver Posted July 7, 2003 Report Posted July 7, 2003 Meh, Waste of space... I'm more excited about the rumor of B-Boy maybe being at that show
JustJoe2k5 Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 I heard he worked a more mat-based style in his match against Krazy K, only using minimal high-spots including the Swanton Bomb, but I think he will be more into putting Krazy K over than putting himself over. I think Jeff Hardy knows he doesn't have much of a future in a business he has lost the love for, but Krazy K is a young kid that isn't even close to his full potential.
Guest Randy Pan Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 Does he know that RoH doesn't do gimmick matches? Bah. He's made for the WWE.
Guest bob_barron Posted July 8, 2003 Report Posted July 8, 2003 ROH does gimmick matches. They have weapons matches on a lot of the shows
