Guest Super Pissed Smark Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Stolen from 411: Wrestling promotion not giving up on movie side... WWE has paid a sum in the "high six-figure range" to buy an action movie script by Alan McElroy. McElroy has not had success in making profitable mainstream movies. His most successful film is probably Spawn which earned $54 million. Some of his other films include Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, Wrong Turn, and Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers. Credit: The Hollywood Reporter Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever?!?!!? Bwah-ha-ha, ohmigod! If Vince is stupid enough to fund a movie on his own I'm confident he'll burn through the rest of the WWE's cash within 3 years. Will Triple-H star if they can't get Kevin Costner?
Guest BoboBrazil Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 They paid a ridiculous amount for this script, especially from this writer. Are they actually planning to release movies in theaters now or still straight to video?

LooseCannon25 Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 When is that dumb bastard gonna realize he only knows one thing....wrestling.....and losing touch with that too. XFL, WBF, SMACKDOWN RECORDS all failures. Give it up asshole
Guest The Old Me Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 When is that dumb bastard gonna realize he only knows one thing....wrestling.....and losing touch with that too. XFL, WBF, SMACKDOWN RECORDS all failures. Give it up asshole But he's a GENIUS~!
Guest The Czech Republic Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 Way to go, you "integrated media company." They could save so much cash by just letting the Uncreative Team write a movie script. It'd be great. There would be a continuity error in every scene, antagonists would be based off of current events from six months ago, and in the final battle scene, the villain wins with a move one-tenth as powerful as everything the hero has thrown forth prior to that.
Guest Mik at Cornell Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 What's so sad about that guys movie history? Everything except Ecks vs. Sever made a profit. His name alone shouldn't mean failure...just Vince's name does.
Guest Miss Independant Posted July 9, 2003 Report Posted July 9, 2003 With profits as narrow as those with what appears to be little to no level of real improvement, then yes, that does mean failure. But as they say, birds of a feather...
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 Ballistic: Ecks Vs. Sever 2 starring... Eddie Guerrero / Gail Kim as Agents out to find a Career Killer played by Triple H. Imagine the Box Office #'s.
SpikeFayeJettEdBebop Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 HAHHAHAHA, I like that idea about Ecks vs. Sever 2. It would see it 15 times ATLEAST.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 Remember that a lot of movies eventually end up making a profit due to video/DVD, even if they don't kill at the box office.
Guest Just Looking Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I never post, and only signed up so I could read the board without having all the sig pictures on my screen, but I had to share this: I know for a fact that WWE was working on a movie deal that would cast HHH as the star, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is the movie that will try to make HHH an action hero. In recent weeks, HHH has been in LA to meet with the head of WWE Films to discuss movies in which he could star. Apparently, they found one they liked and purchased it. Yes, I know you want sources, but I'm not sure if I can give them to you yet. All I can say is I got this from a reliable person in the business.
Guest The Grand Pubah of 1620 Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I'm waiting for Halloween 9...Michael Myers vs. Kane. That'd bring'em in.
Guest The ChriZa Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 When someone's resume includes the sentence, "His most successful film is probably Spawn", that should pretty much be a universal sign for "STAY AWAY!!!" I'd rather attend a sleepover at Pat Patterson's house than see that pile of excrement again.
Guest Sakura Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I love how Vince prides himself on being more than a rasslin promoter and carny, bah gawd he owns a cutting edge integrated media company who "make movies". But then he gets furious when people don't watch RAW for "what it is" and "as a mark".
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 Half Baked 2... Starring... ROB...VAN...DAM Also if I remember correctly, didn't they have an idea of Triple H co-starring in Walking Tall ?
Guest The ChriZa Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 Wrong Turn? I loved that movie! Is that sarcasm, or was it actually good? And if you don't mind posting a spoiler, does Eliza Dushku die in it? That would rule.
Guest Phr33k Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 I'm waiting for Halloween 9...Michael Myers vs. Kane. That'd bring'em in. Yeah, or they could team up. Michael kills people, and Kane humps the corpses afterwards while calling them Katie.
Guest ShamRock Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 Citizen Kane would be more appropriate for this situation.

I don't think we're too worried about sources - that sounds frighteningly plausable. So just how jealous is HHH of Rocky? It's amazing to think, with what movies cost today, that Vince could be talked into funding this vanity project, but I guess he's so in love with Hunter that nothing is out of the question. I bet the script notes ("Hunter looks too weak here, and here as well, and here--in fact, why does the bad guy have to get the upper hand at all, why don't we have Hunter beat him and his lackeys up all throughout the film, then we can have the big climax with Hunter killing everybody!") should be quite horrific. Can't wait for the opening weekend, at a Blockbuster near you.
Guest Retro Rob Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 What are the odds of this movie ever getting made and released? Vince doesn't have a good track record when it comes to following through. Whatever happened to that Steve Austin movie?
Guest Quik Posted July 10, 2003 Report Posted July 10, 2003 A Triple H movie? Y'know, I know this'll sound lame, but... "Hast-uhh, la vist-uhh, baby"
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 how the hell does a movie w/ lucy liu AND antonio banderas suck so bad "Welcome back to the....... How you say?.... Ah, yes... Show."
Placebo Effect Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 What are the odds of this movie ever getting made and released? Vince doesn't have a good track record when it comes to following through. Whatever happened to that Steve Austin movie? Most likely the Steve Austin movie was simply talks with another studio who was going to back the whole thing financially due to the wrestling boom that was going on. Something happened that didn't allow the film to happen, but Vince didn't lose any money from that. Most likely, Vince paid $750,000 against another $500,000 (if it is completed, a screenwriter gets another amount of money), so this thing will probably end up, sadly, being made.
Guest The Decadent Slacker Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 Here we go, the 10 movies i'd see from them, & the 10 i'd RATHER see from anywhere else: the 10 i'd see: 1) "Spawn 2" with Glenn Jacobs as Spawn, & JR as Clown. 2) "The Owen Hart Story" with Rodney Mack as Owen, Vince as Bret, & Eddie Guerrero as Vince. 3) "Conan The Eradicator" with HHH as Conan, Clint Howard as a sidekick, & RON JEREMY~! as the villain. 4) "Beyond the Mat: The Kayfabe Kut" starring Taker, Vince, HHH, Austin & Bischoff as themselves, in full kayfabe, naturally. 5) "Boogie NigHHHts" with HHH as Diggler. 6) "Falling Down 2: The Next Day" with Dreamer snapping & killing everyone. 7) "Clerks: WWE Style" with Bischoff as Randal, Teddy Long as Dante, & La Resitance as Jay & Silent Bob. 8) "The Original InVasion" with Vince as President Franklin Roosevelt, Shane as Hitler, & Steph as the head of Japan. 9) "It Doesn't Matter: The Rock Story" with HHH as Rock, RVD as Vince & Steve Austin as himself. 10) "9 Mile" with Funaki as Eminem. Guest Space_Cowboy Posted July 11, 2003 Report Posted July 11, 2003 Hopefully they stick Test in a leading role, just to make this debacle as bad as humanly possible.
