Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 10, 2003 From the Pensacola News Journal... Fire destroyed professional wrestler and best-selling author Mick Foley's Navarre home Monday night. The state fire marshall's office today said the cause of the blaze is unknown. "Unfortunately, because of the extensive damage to the home, we will probably never be able to determine the cause of the fire," Fire Investigator Thomas Bosco said. "It started high in the attic area and did not seem suspicious in nature." Foley was not living at the unoccupied home, which was listed for sale, Holley-Navarre Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Les Slocum said. He estimated the damage at $300,000. When firefighters arrived at Foley's home in the 2000 block of Costa Verde Court at 10:30 p.m. Monday they found the home fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters from departments in Navarre, Midway and Florosa battled the blaze until 3 a.m. Tuesday. Flames shooting through the roof of the single-story, Mediterranean-style home, located east of the Navarre Beach Toll Bridge and south of U.S. 98, were visible from Pensacola Beach, Slocum said. Foley, who once held the world championship belt in what is now known as World Wrestling Entertainment Inc., is known to fans as Dude Love, Cactus Jack and Mankind. He also wrote two autobiographies, "Foley Is Good" and "Have a Nice Day," which proved almost as popular as his wild antics in the ring that earned him a following and many broken bones. His debut novel, "Tietam Brown," was published Tuesday by Knopf. Slocum said Foley had not lived in the home for about three years. The real estate agent handling the sale was unavailable for comment. Foley could not be reached for comment. ...if this has been mentioned yet, just delete this. I simply haven't seen it posted yet, and thought this was more than newsworthy. My thoughts go out to Foley, as it sucks for anyone to loose their home and valuables to something like this, even if they are wealthy. Before you try it, let's not have any HHH jokes about how he was the cause of this as well, ok? Sincerely, ...Downhome...

Invictus 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2003 I don't think he had any valuables in the house, because the article states he hadn't lived in it for 3 years and was trying to sell it. Either way though, that sucks.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 10, 2003 That sucks. I hope he has good homeowner's insurance.
Guest Memphis Report post Posted July 10, 2003 It's awful and all, but I'm sure Mick can afford another one. Still sad to loose your own home.
Guest Steviekick Report post Posted July 10, 2003 It's things like this that make me afraid to own more than one home. It would be horrible for this to happen and not be there to take care of things. Anyway, I feel very sorry for Foley and family. Foley has always come across as good people, and he definitely shouldn't have to deal with such a problem. Guest Downhome Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Even with a ton of money, things like this still suck. If nothing else, it's one hell of a headache to deal with.
Guest The ChriZa Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Damn, even Mick's HOUSE is hardcore.
Guest BifEverchad Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Mick musta been watching RAW and threw a fireball at the horrible display of 'wrestling' put forth by the WWE.
Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted July 10, 2003 I'm glad Foley's ok. He seems like the best guy in wrestling today.
Guest The ChriZa Report post Posted July 10, 2003 I wonder...if Mick were still employed by the WWE, would they somehow turn this into a storyline? Nahhh, they're all about good taste.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted July 10, 2003 What's with the somber reactions? He hasn't lived there in THREE years. Likely Nothing was of value there anymore. Yes Your house burning down does suck Foley and the Family are fine...It's nothing more then a Economical Headache then an Emotional one...

Guest BobBacklundRules Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Why do bad things happen to good people?I'm sure this sucks for Foley and family and I wish the best for them. But my first smark reaction to this was "damn, he could cut a damn good promo about this", and he could to. He lost his ear and made some damn good segments, now he lost his damn house. LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2003 I wonder...if Mick were still employed by the WWE, would they somehow turn this into a storyline? Nahhh, they're all about good taste. Well, Kane does have a new mean streak.... In all seriousness though, like everyone's been saying, at least no one was there. It seems like everyone and everything should be alright without being there in 3 years. Hopefully, all the hassle work and insurance won't be too bad. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Awful new, guess you just have to be thankful that everyone's ok. I wouldn't be shocked if Vince busted out "IT WAS ME, MICK!" on RAW as a ploy to get Foley back full time (needing the money and all)
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Dammit, Titan Towers should've caught fire.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted July 10, 2003 I wonder...if Mick were still employed by the WWE, would they somehow turn this into a storyline? Nahhh, they're all about good taste. Foley would DEFINATELY mention it on TV. That's just how he is. Of course, they'd somehow use it to try and get Suckbag Orton over. I agree with Choken. He hasn't lived there for three years. It's not like it was even a close call.

Guest The ChriZa Report post Posted July 10, 2003 I wish the media would run a statement from Mick on this... "As some of you may or may not know, I had a little incident in my life lately, where my house was burned to the ground...now although this will no doubt greatly impact my life, I have to say...I'm glad it happened right here, in the 2000 block of Costa Verde Court!!!!!" Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Oh, it's a spare house? You guys had me all worked up. I was expecting to read about Foley jumping from the flaming roof while his wife and kids looked on and the firefighters shouted "ECW! ECW! ECW!"
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Eh, He lost his old house that was on the market. Hopefully it wasn't burned for dubis reasons. Point is he's ok, his family is ok, and thats all that matters.
Adam 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2003 Yep, just as long as no one was hurt, it can all be replaced. Sad to lose a house though, my thoughts go out to Mick and family.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2003 One Triple H joke, and a Raw Sucks joke. Wow, sensitivety is running wild here. Whever he lived in it the damn before, or not for three years, it still sucks. It was still his. I'm just glad it wasn't his home rather than his house.
