Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 16, 2003 It doesn't much matter since Jushin Lyger is pretty much credited with inventing the move. That's who I thought did it. but I didn't want to say without knowing for sure
Guest Insane Bump Machine Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Does Marc Mero's backflip deal predate Kidman's SSP? Mero tucked his legs a little more and put more bounce in his (which is what Brock did) Mero did an SSP, the MeroSault. But he didn't invent the move, if that's what you're thinking
Guest Vyce Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Are Ripper & I the only ones here who think that maybe - GASP! - his remark was a bit kayfabe? I mean, it's no big stretch of the imagination. Kidman is being set up to have a run as a dickish, arrogant heel. Complaining that another wrestler is stealing his moves is one way in which to forshadow his eventual turn. But assuming he was being legit, who cares? I don't get the "Oh, fuck Kidman for saying that!" attitude coming off some of you.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Listen to the LAW interview with Kidman - the guy is just honest and speaks his mind. That interview (the LAW one) wasn't heeled up at all.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 16, 2003 But I'm guessing that if he had said "HHH is a great guy backstage and doesn't use his relationship with Steph to get pushes and such, he is there because he earned it." You guys would be say "Bullshit. he is just afraid of WWE big wigs blahblahimabigfatdumbass". Just saying. It COULD be a work.

Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted July 16, 2003 I believe Mero was doing it before Kidman. I don't think Jushin Liger invented the SSP, but he had been doing it since the late 80's, so... Liger > Mero/Kidman/Brock

Mero tucked his legs a little more and put more bounce in his (which is what Brock did) Mero did an SSP, the MeroSault. But he didn't invent the move, if that's what you're thinking Mero's SSP was called the Wild Thing, and later, the Marvelocity. The Merosault was just a variation of a moonsault onto a standing opponent.
Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted July 16, 2003 While I can understand the logic in one wrestler being mad at another for taking and using one of their signature spots on a regular basis (For example, I wouldn't blame Benoit if he was mad that Angle started using the rolling germans, but that's just an EXAMPLE and a can of worms I don't wanna open right now) this was a move Brock used ONCE. Was he mad at Shane McMahon too? EDIT: Someone needs to look in to who did invent the SSP. I've ALWAYS been told it was Liger.
Guest Thunder Rising!!! Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Mero has one sweet SSP though.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Brock was doing the SSP before he even knew what an F5 was. Anyway even Brock's botched SSP is better than Kidman's. Not to change the subject, but who are Team Angle going to face after this?? At this rate, APA
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted July 17, 2003 I like Kidman's SSP better. I just think the "arched back" execution looks more impressive than the "tuck" version.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Mero's looks better cause he gets higher. But I liked Kidman's better where it seems like the carpet is being yanked out from under him and he falls back
Guest Vyce Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Listen to the LAW interview with Kidman - the guy is just honest and speaks his mind. That interview (the LAW one) wasn't heeled up at all. So again I reiterate......if he's being serious......who the fuck cares? Again, I don't see why some of you are taking on a "OMG FUCK KIDMAN!!!!" attitude because of this. QUOTE Not to change the subject, but who are Team Angle going to face after this?? Adam 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Kidman does come across as a bit of an ass in quite a few interviews that he has done. In one interview for POW I think it was, he says that while Torrie just incourages him, he tells her that her matches suck and why! I mean, seriously, its one thing to tell the truth, but to say that shit to your girl? Surely that ain't right.
Guest DarthLordOfWrestling Report post Posted July 17, 2003 like kidman could do an F5 yeah, Really. He's the weekest wrestler at the time . NExt to Spike.

I mean, seriously, its one thing to tell the truth, but to say that shit to your girl? Surely that ain't right. Maybe she wanted his honest opinion. He probably could have found a way to sugarcoat it though. Kind of like when J.R. calls a match "methodical" or "bowling shoe-ugly."
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2003 Mike Tenay used to pimp Lyger as inventing the move, while Kidman "perfected" it. So even Tenay is pretty sure Lyger was the first to use it.

The Dames 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2003 I wouldn't ever say that Kidman perfected it, seeing as how he's botched the move on television and doesn't perform it with as much grace or impact as Paul London. Dames

Guest Vyce Report post Posted July 18, 2003 like kidman could do an F5 yeah, Really. He's the weekest wrestler at the time . NExt to Spike. Like the F5 is a hard move to do. I've done it before. To a guy around 150 lbs. Kidman, now that he's roided up a bit, should at the LEAST be able to do it to another cruiser.
Guest Thunder Rising!!! Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Kidman has one of the ugliest SSP IMO. Getting height and tucking in mid-air just looks much sweeter than just flip out and land as you were.
Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Red can do an F5. With opponent cooperation, it's a very simple move. Basically everybody's SSP blows Kidman's away, which is part of the reason I think people are upset that it's "his move." With standing SSPs and Shooting Star Legdrops being perfected and copied, the SSP really isn't that impressive outside of WWE anymore.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2003 Speaking of Kidman, I don't mind his DMX rap theme, but I miss his rock song from his WCW days (the one he was using when he broke free from the Flock).
