DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2004 Just enough time before enjoying todays MOTD to express my utter delight at thrashing bastard Southampton, a healthy measure of revenge for the demoralising 4-0 FA Cup defeat a year or so back. Only problem being that interest in Super Jermain Defoe will have to be on the up after today, which would leave us with only two fantastic strikers to play. Mystery Eskimo 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2004 Watched Forest-Leics last night, and we were lucky to get the point really. The standard from both teams was just crap. At least we were trying though. I'd like to see Gary Megson come in... I think...

I think your under 16's could have put 5 past us on that day, utter shite, but to be honest the 4-0 was better as it did fuck hoddle right up, which worked well for both clubs when you think about it
PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2004 I'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate the mighty owls, now 4th in league one. Listen, we haven't been good since I was ten and I'll take what I can get. I take it you'll be wanting Kenwyn Jones back then Vanhalen? Oh well.

DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2005 God, I love Martin Jol, undefeated in 7 games, with 17 goals scored and only 4 conceeded. I can't believe this is the same team who were already going back to their usual tricks under Jacques Santini just 2 months ago. I can't remember us being this good before in my lifetime. Of course, we've got United and Chelsea up next, so it'll probably all go sour quickly, but I'm so enjoying this while it lasts

I'm glad Jol's got him in the side, he deserves it.
DCMaximo 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2005 He's been one of our best players since Jol took over. At the start of the season it was heavily rumoured that he'd be off to Forest as part of a deal for Andy Reid, as he'd been average last season and was mainly on the bench during our opening games. Now though, Jol's given him more of a free attacking role, where he's been creating some excellent chances, as well as scoring a belter against Norwich. He gives 100% each game too, which is why he's becoming a hit with the fans.

The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 Considering the situation at Forest I've been thinking about something that I'd like to ask around the board. If your club (God forbid) went out of business tomorrow, would be able to support another team? Who would it be? I think I'd probably get my fix from Manchester City, as I go past their ground on the way to uni everyday, so they're my local team but whether I'd be able to be a "fan" or not of them I really don't know. Probably not. Just thought though there'd probably be a AFC Forest or something similar, but 2 hours travel for bottom of the pile non-League games? I really don't know what I'd do. What about you lot?
deancoles 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 If your club (God forbid) went out of business tomorrow, would be able to support another team? Who would it be? I'd probably support Yeovil, we usually play them in a friendly every summer and the fans are a lot better than some of the gloryhunters we get. Edit: If they were local Crewe wouldn't be a bad team to support, Dario Gradi is one of the best managers in England, they play a nice style of football and because They Sell their star player for big money(by their standard) every couple of years(Rob Jones,Danny Murphy and David Platt) there's no financial pressure on them to be in the top 2 divisions. PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 Up until last year I hadn't really watched football since I was a kid, so I'm not hugely loyal to either Sheff Utd or Wednesday, and bizarrely enough I could probably support either. That said, I'm more drawn to Wednesday these days, cos it's more fun. United have been the far better side in the past few years but they're also unbearably dull for the most part. With the Owls, whether you win (away) or lose to the worst teams in the universe due to a smattering of late goals (home) you've just got to laugh. Mind you, we love Paul Sturrock, he's done a great job so far, and it's reassuring to have a manager who isn't satisfied with losses for a change.

Anorak 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2005 It was funniest watching the reaction on SKY. They even flashed up Man Utd 0 Tottenham 1 when you expected the usual studio yelp to signal an annoying late winner for Utd. Port Vale are my second team, probably because they're just so nondescript and inoffensive. Always mange them on CM and stuggle to make them exiting. Getting Steve 'Nervous Norris' Guppy off them is about the best/most recent link with Leicester. Further abroad it would be Milan and the mighty RKC Waalwijik. PS. Is Football Manager 2005 worth getting?

PLAGIARISM! 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2005 It's a few days late but fuck it, Owls win at home for the first time since 1967. Only Wrexham, but 4-0! Now soton, you don't need Kenwyne Jones anytime soon...he's only 6 in 5 for us...
TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2005 Just ordered it from Amazon a minute ago You know... We should set up some kind of online game between us, i'm pretty sure we all have the game now, and we all seem to support different clubs.. just an idea. But not yet, since I can't get online at the moment. My laptop's been broken and i'm waiting for it to return, i'm at my friends at the moment, hence me not posting much as of late. Anyway, it's easier than you think to all join in the same game.

The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2005 Gary Megson to be appointed manager of Nottingham Forest tomorrow.... I'm not really sure how I feel about this, but I'm probably more pleased than disapppointed. I definatly think he'll keep us up and sort the defence out. Reading on Forest forums though, our fans are the biggest twats on the planet. It's not even been confirmed and people are saying they're going to stop going to games and those who say they will keep going have said they'll boo Megson, all because he won't be playing "proper" football. Right now they need some fucking perspective on things. If we play like WBA but stay up and then get promoted next season (from whatever league we end up in) I couldn't care less about the style of play. Staying up and finishing mid-table will do me. We tried playing great football under Hart and we did - but we also nearly got relegated after one good season. Gary Megson's Red and White Army!
