David Blazenwing Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 From RajahWWF.com: Speaking of Goldberg, he has signed on to play a character by the name of “Nappa” in a movie based on the television cartoon series “Dragonball Z”. This character, I am told, is supposed to be one of the most powerful and mean characters in the series. Goldberg Nappa from DBZ ... yeah, I think he can pull it off!
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Oh god, that has 'worst movie ever' written all over it. I hate Dragonball.
Guest edotherocket Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I already posted this in page 5 of the Smackdown spoilers thread. And what a neat costume for Goldberg to wear!
David Blazenwing Posted July 23, 2003 Author Report Posted July 23, 2003 I already posted this in page 5 of the Smackdown spoilers thread. Oh, sorry. I don't read spoilers, so I wouldn't have known that!
Guest edotherocket Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Does Nappa only have 1 foot or is the picture cropped? This movie will be so bad its good. I'm thinking Mortal Kombat Annihilation quality here.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 It'll be nice to see Goldberg getting blown to oblivion by someone 2 feet shorter than he is for being overly stupid. If Songoku puts him in a front headlock I'll change my opinion to best.movie.ever.
Guest razazteca Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 That's is no stretch for Goldberg he did the same role in Universal Soldier.......I think he has been type cast.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Ah, I love how Goldberg makes smartass remarks about being on TV in his underwear and signs on to dress up like that.
Guest AndrewTS Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 "One of the most powerful..." Er, no. Only at the start of the series. Is this a joke? A live-action DBZ has to be one of the stupidest ideas ever. Who is going to be directing this? Schumaker?
Guest David Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 HAHAHAAHAH Goldberg as Nappa... HAHAHAHAHA DBZ movie....
Highland Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Does Nappa only have 1 foot or is the picture cropped? This movie will be so bad its good. I'm thinking Mortal Kombat Annihilation quality here. No, it will probably be horrible, as in live-action Street Fighter the Movie horrible Maybe. just MAYBE they can put in cool special effects, but I just can't see this being anything but bad, and not in a cheesy way either.
Guest Choken One Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I bet Goldberg will demand that Nappa goes over HHH's character on Drew Carey Show...
Guest Ripper Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 If they spend the entire movie with one of the characters charging up a attack for the first movie and have him use it in the sequal for it not to even work...they will have the biggest balls EVA!!
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Fuck FUNImation. Fuck them up there asses for ruining DBZ.
Mecha Mummy Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 This character, I am told, is supposed to be one of the most powerful and mean characters in the series. ... Sure, for like twenty episodes. Then you go into the Furiza saga and Nappa is revealed to be a total lightweight. Oh, and I will DEFINITELY love to watch Veggie kill Goldberg for sucking against Son Gokou.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Fuck FUNImation. Fuck them up there asses for ruining DBZ. DBZ is one of those things that's kind of difficult to ruin, and I say that in a not-so-nice way.
Guest CED Ordonez Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Ah, Dragonball Z...the anime that brings you 20 minutes of yelling, screaming, and charging up for every minute of relevant action...and the anime where everything is irrelevant because you KNOW whose going over in the end...DBZ is Raw...
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Truer words were never spoken, CED.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 I never got the fascination of DBZ. It's precitable as hell, the animation is laughable and it takes forever to get to one decent (and I use the term loosely) fight scene. There's so much better anime around *points to sig*
Guest The Decadent Slacker Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 Only Goldberg could make me want to see a live action film based on a cartoon that has Japanese guys yelling like they're passing the Eiffel Tower & turing Aryan in the process. The only movie that coud supply me more perverse joy is RVD in the live action version of "Vampire Hunter D"
Guest razazteca Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 DBZ is not Raw.......when was the last time the #1 face got stronger after getting squashed by the heel? Only to fight another monster heel who seems god-like then another heel who is stronger than the last, rinse and repeat.
Guest CED Ordonez Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 OK, valid counterpoint so I retract my DBZ is Raw statement. Everything else I said about DBZ stands. EDIT: And Insane Bump Machine, I can't see your sig so you have to tell me what anime it is.

EDIT: And Insane Bump Machine, I can't see your sig so you have to tell me what anime it is. It's Serial Experiments Lain. Very weird at first, but excellent and thought-provoking. I'm also watching Noir right now, looks interesting.
Guest AndrewTS Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 DBZ ain't bad for an anime free to watch on TV. Okay, sure it's completely blown away by plenty of others in that category (Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Inuyasha, basically everything not Pokemon or Sailor Moon), but there's far worse out there. However, as a big fan of MST3K--bring it on. I've seen Richard Kiel try to molest a 30-something "teenage girl," Blast Hardcheese jog around a "space ship" battling back the "space mutiny," Jean Claude Gosh Darn kicking force-perspective Jurassic Park dinosaur toys, Tor Johnson beating up/killing people, and much, much more. This should be funny as hell. I get free movie passes all the time so it won't cost me a dime.
Guest razazteca Posted July 23, 2003 Report Posted July 23, 2003 The whole nu Adult Swin line up is strong, once they got rid of Reign, Cartoon Network is now watchable. DBZ is a good show, but the constant reruns of the same 10 episodes killed my interest much like the same 10 storylines are done on Raw. CED did have a valid point, what could be more entertaining than watching The Rock, HBK, Hogan, Goldberg powering up? Or Ginru warriors strike a pose before or during a match, just like Rico does on Raw?
Guest CED Ordonez Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 But the question remains: Who gets to play Mr. Satan?
Guest razazteca Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 MENG or Rikishi All talk no action, taking credit from others, that can only be Vince.
Guest CED Ordonez Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 The thought of Vince doing his facial expressions while wearing the Mr. Satan get-up, complete with afro and porn 'stache... It's completely disturbing and hilariously funny at the same time.
Rendclaw Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 Hah, my ex-roommate called it way back when Goldberg debuted.... she took one look at him and said "Nappa!!!" Of course, this was when were were getting episodes from this little oriental store in Tampa, and anime translation groups.... I watched the Funimation eps just to see how badly they would butcher the series, and I was surprised because they were halfway decent by the end of it. though it was amusing to watch my roomie pull her hair out in the beginning when they would screw up the power moves.... DBZ was a series (just like Pokemon) for young boys. It had such a fanbase over here in the states that the eventual translation was inevitable.
Mecha Mummy Posted July 24, 2003 Report Posted July 24, 2003 Oh, come on, Randy Savage HAS to be Sa-ta-n! I'd laugh my head off at that. I prefer DB, even if that also has a couple things that annoy me ("Oh my god it's _________!" "He's so great! He's like a legend!" Then Goku knocks the guy out in one punch).
