Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 Every time I try to play an .avi video file on KaZaA, it either doesn't play at all or it gives me a swirling screen that only has sound. Is there any way I can see the .avi videos?
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 You need the right codecs. Most of the time it should be DivX or XVID. To be on the safe side, just download one of the big codec packs that are floating around the net. I use Nimo: http://www.filemirrors.com/search.src?file...Build9Beta1.exe BUT, try to install this one first: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow...23.exe?download ffdshow is also a collection of codecs. Most of the time it gives much better performance than all the other stuff.
Rendclaw Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 I would just get the codecs, load them in and run them through WMP.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 Insane Bump Machine, the second download you posted seems to be a fraud because every time I try to download it, it always freezes my internet up and I have to turn the computer off and then back on just so it'll function properly again.
Guest Insane Bump Machine Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 That's a problem on your end then, it's working fine for me.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted July 26, 2003 Report Posted July 26, 2003 That's a problem on your end then, it's working fine for me. Well I've got XP, does it have some glitches in it or something?
Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Posted July 27, 2003 Report Posted July 27, 2003 For AVI divx files, you need something to rewrite the table of contents (as divx puts that at the end of the file.) The Nimo codec pack should have a program called DivFix, copy the avi file and use that to (hopefully) make it work. Or get KazaaLite at http://www.kazaalitekpp.com/ , that has AVI preview built into it for easy viewing of AVI files.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 Damn it, I'm still having trouble viewing them. I tried Nimo, didn't work, I've tried Kazaa Lite, and the .avi STILL won't play. Am I cursed or something? Who the hell did I piss off to deserve this?
{''({o..o})''} Posted July 29, 2003 Report Posted July 29, 2003 If you mean preview them whilst still downloading you need to get a version of kazza lite with K-dat or a similar program. It creates a temporary file that can be read usaully with Avi-preview. Go to www.k-lite.tk and download the newest version. Then go to the Tools taskbar and you should be all set.
Guest I'm That Damn Zzzzz Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Get the program GSpot at http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ . Drag and drop the file on its window, it'll tell you more than you'll ever want to know about the file.
Guest Raven_Effect01 Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 The .avi file I'm trying to view has already been downloaded, so what should I do? I even downloaded the K-Lite codecs and still can't view .avi's.

If it still doesn't work AND you installed all the necessary codecs, the file is either broken or you're stupid
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 With the avi-player you get with Kazaa lite, open it up and drag the files into there from your shared folder.
