Guest Choken One Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 According to my Local Rock Radio Show 97.3 Fred Durst whom is on the Summer Sanitarium Tour yesterday or recently after being BOOED off stage and garbage thrown at them at the Chicago Show stormed off the stage and went on a tirade about Homosexuals. Later that night...Durst said in a Interview "Maybe I ought just kill myself like Kurt Cobain". What are YOUR thoughts on Durst making reference to Cobain only being popular because he commited suicide and durst himself.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 I agree. Durst should kill himself.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Durst is right about two things, Cobain is only a legend today due to his death. I honestly thought that Pearl Jam was a better band anyway. The second thing is that yes durst should kill himslef to rid us of his presence.
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Is there some context to that quote that you're leaving out? I don't see how "Maybe I ought just kill myself like Kurt Cobain" instantly equates to "He was only popular cuz he's dead". I mean, I agree - I'm a firm believer that if Cobain was alive today, no one would care - but isn't it possible that Durst only used Cobain as an example of someone that killed themself, and not to make any sort of point about how his death contributed to his popularity?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 If Cobain hadn't killed himself Nirvana would have faded away just like every other alternative band from that era...half of whom's names I can't even bother to remember anymore. You would have to be a fool to believe that Cobain would be anywhere in the same ballpark of popular today if he were still around.
Guest razazteca Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Boo hoo metal fans do not like Limp Bizkit, what a surprise.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 The second thing is that yes durst should kill himslef to rid us of his presence. Are you crazy? That wouldn't rid us of anything! Think what MTV and radio would do if Fred Durst did kill himself! He would go over night from being an asshole everyone hates and career on the way down to being a man everyone loves, respected and MTV would even give him full credit for the whole rock/rap fab. No reason to die Mr. Durst. Just go away!
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 I agree. Durst should kill himself. Yeah, I think he should end his misery...and ours. This guy's a phony, attention whore, compulsive liar, and crybaby all the same time.
Guest Shaved Bear Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 maybe Fred Durst should be caught in a humiliating scandal, like something really bad (use your imaginations) and he is automatically seen as horrible by everyone
Guest Youth N Asia Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 maybe Fred Durst should be caught in a humiliating scandal, like something really bad (use your imaginations) and he is automatically seen as horrible by everyone Then lie about banging a bunch of pop stars he's never touched

Kelly's scandal, but that only made ignition seem more realistic in a horrifying sort of way
B. Brian Brunzell Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Durst is right about two things, Cobain is only a legend today due to his death. I honestly thought that Pearl Jam was a better band anyway. The second thing is that yes durst should kill himself to rid us of his presence. We should be so lucky if Fred blew his face off. Sure, it would be the ultimate attention grabber, but if he did do it, he wouldn't be around the next day to say something stupid as to why he blew his face off. Suicide notes just aren't the same as a ridiculous, lying-through-your-teeth statement that we all love. Oh, and Soundgarden > Pearl jam.

Knowing Durst's luck, he'd blotch the suicide attempt and end up like Arseface from the Preacher comic and become even more of a famous musician, not to mention poster boy for overcoming adversity....
Guest CED Ordonez Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Fred Durst's potential death will be met with much more apathy and celebration than Kurt Cobain's. When I say celebration, I don't mean celebration of his life, I mean celebration that he's dead.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 As far as Nirvana or Pearl Jam being better or worse or whatever, this is the way I rank the grunge bands. Nirvana > Alice In Chains > Soundgarden > Pearl Jam > Stone Temple Pilots
B. Brian Brunzell Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 I gotsta agree with Ordonez. He summed it up perfectly.
Mecha Mummy Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 See, at least Kurdt had actual issues. Heroin addiction, bi-polar disorder... If Durst killed himself, he would look far worse than Cobain EVER did. Of course, I know he doesn't MEAN it. Not even Fred Durst is that stupid, right?
Guest Choken One Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 No he didn't mean it...Acording to the Radio Report Fred was in a jokingly manner...
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 I love the music folder! In the WWE folder I get yelled at all the time for wishing injuries on guys. In the music folder it seems to be a okay to wish death on people! Awesome!
Guest Choken One Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Our hate for Durst is higher then our HHHATE
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Speak for yourself!! ... ... And STP is a great live band...but it's really just Weilend.
Guest El Satanico Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 I feared that this was going to be something about Fred and Suicidal Tendencies.
Guest Choken One Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Well I would have said Fred Durst is murdered by members of Suicidal Tendencies.
Guest El Satanico Posted July 30, 2003 Report Posted July 30, 2003 Well I would have said Fred Durst is murdered by members of Suicidal Tendencies. that headline about Fred and ST would've been ok.
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted July 31, 2003 Report Posted July 31, 2003 See, it's reasons like this that heavy metal needs to have more gangwars and such, like rap. "Fred Durst gunned down by Suicidal Tendencies! 'Nothing personal - I just wanted the fucker to shut up' says Mike Muir." Then the SOD can go on a Nu-Metaller hunt...
Guest Choken One Posted July 31, 2003 Report Posted July 31, 2003 Yeah I can see it "David Draiman was recently arrested for the murder of Scott Stapp and his statment was..."I was tired of that Jim Morrison rip off talking about Jesus...I HATE JESUS!"
Guest AndrewTS Posted July 31, 2003 Report Posted July 31, 2003 "Get the gun, Fred, get the gun! Shoot! Shoot! Shoot!"
Guest benoitrulz4life Posted July 31, 2003 Report Posted July 31, 2003 Yeah, everybody (well, MTV) says Fred Durst and Limp Bizkit "made" rap-rock but Anthrax had more to do with the maturation of the style than anyone (except possibly Rage Against the Machine). Not coincidentally those are the only bands who were any good at it.
Guest Choken One Posted July 31, 2003 Report Posted July 31, 2003 I don't think even Limp Bizkit fans will claim that anymore...now they moved over to Linkin Park. I still can't decide whose worse... LB had Wes...so there's the breaker.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted July 31, 2003 Report Posted July 31, 2003 Speak for yourself!! ... ... And STP is a great live band...but it's really just Weilend. I saw STP 3 years ago and they were AWESOME. My only beef was that they only played for about 45 minutes and then BAM!- they were done. Weiland was on fire. He is the KING of the funky jig. He inherited that title when Michael Hutchence died.
