Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Report post Posted July 31, 2003 To go along with the original piece I posted about this release... From Bravewords.com As reported by www.billboard.com, PANTERA’s forthcoming Best Of album will be called The Best of Pantera: Far Beyond the Great Southern Cowboys' Vulgar Hits! The record is due through Elektra/Rhino on September 23. The 16-track single-disc 'Vulgar Hits!' will be packaged with a bonus DVD featuring 12 videos, including two live performances. The full audio tracklisting is as follows: 'Cowboys From Hell', 'Cemetery Gates', 'Mouth for War', 'Walk', 'This Love', 'I'm Broken', 'Becoming', '5 Minutes Alone', 'Planet Caravan', 'Drag the Waters', 'Where You Came From (Live)', 'Cat Scratch Fever', 'Revolution Is My Name', 'I'll Cast a Shadow', 'Goddamn Electric', 'Hole in the Sky'. The bonus DVD includes: 'Cowboys From Hell', 'Psycho Holiday', 'Cemetery Gates', 'Mouth For War', 'This Love', 'Walk', '5 Minutes Alone', 'I'm Broken', 'Drag the Waters', 'Domination' (Live), 'Primal Concrete Sledge' (Live), 'Revolution Is My Name' Speculation continues about the feature of Pantera. Drummer Vinnie Paul and guitarist Dimebag Darrell are currently finishing up the NEWFOUND POWER debut in Texas with former HALFORD guitarist Pat Lachman on vocals. BW&BK caught up with singer Phil Anselmo recently and he commented on the relationship. Have you been in with old Pantera mates? "I’ve got time to wait. They know where the phone is, they can call me. I’m not dying, I’m not broke, I’m having a good time. I’m doing music that’s a hundred-million percent and loving bewitching the audience every night. That’s what I live for. I’m not that far off the mark. It’s just with a group of different people." Never say never? "Never say never of course. I always believe in that." Do you miss the old days? "Well it’d be a lie to say I don’t miss ‘em or think about ‘em. Whatever, there’s a lot of days that I miss, there’s a lot of things that I miss. You know, it’s memories and my time with Pantera was... You know, look man, we got extremely popular together. We’ve gotten five to six gold and platinum records together, we’ve been highly successful together, we cemented a style of music. Those feelings don’t just come and go like every normal thought every day. But I don’t dwell on that ever. That was yesterday. I’ve set new goals for myself and I plan on seeing them through." Anselmo’s SUPERJOINT RITUAL project has just posted the video for ‘Waiting For The Turning Point’ at www.superjointritual.com. The track is pulled from the band’s sophomore effort A Lethal Dose Of American Hatred, out now! Yes, I have been disappointed with Pantera's release for the most part since "..Driven. Yes I'm going to purchase this release. They are still, and always will be, one of my all time favorites. No matter what happens.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted July 31, 2003 I'll buy it, but it looks like there are a few songs from "Reinventing the Steel", and that CD sucks. But, the promise of a DVD is worth it.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2003 I would be interested in it. They blew their wad after Vulgar, and after Driven it was a slow slide down for them. Anselmo is a disappointment to me, personally.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted July 31, 2003 Those lazy fucks. They made a truly shitty album after a string of Great to Decent ones, and are afraid of making another. Their video stuff is brainless fun though. I've got all their other stuff though, so I'm not going to bother with this.
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2003 The DVD is a nice touch, but I don't know if it's enough to make me purchase this release. I have all of Pantera's other stuff, along with 2 of their DVD's.
Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted July 31, 2003 I only have the Vulgar Video, which is great, but I heard that they were really good live, so I want to see that. It depends on the price too though. Since I probably won't find this at WalMart or Target, I'll have to go to Best Buy.
Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted July 31, 2003 their live show was good, and I saw them after an amazing Slayer set and they still came out as being awesome...but why is Planet Caravan on this
Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye Report post Posted August 1, 2003 I'm just disappointed they didn't include any of the songs from their best album. Power Metal - 1988. Very awesome record.
Guest The Metal Maniac Report post Posted August 1, 2003 but why is Planet Caravan on this For the same reason that "Hole in the Sky" is, I guess. They covered it, it sounded good, (Well, "Planet Caravan" is - I dunno if I've ever heard their version of "Hole in the Sky", actually) so on the CD it goes. Though you'd think if they were gonna put covers on there, they'd at least try to cover different bands. I won't be buying it - I don't have a DVD player, and I have all of their albums anyway. Actually, come to think of it, I don't have a CD copy of Far Beyond Driven but, meh. I don't listen to them much anymore anyways.
