Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted August 4, 2003 At some point in the series they're found out about being mutants. I don't exactly when that took place, but one episode I watched in the third season had Jean Grey giving a speech about acceptance, but at the same time, we saw the Brotherhood [Avalanche, Toad, Blob, Quicksilver] beating the holy hell out of Scott, Kitty, Rogue, and Spyke in the parking lot. None of the x-kids were using their powers, because they didn't want to prove Principal Kelly right in any way. The reason she was giving the speech is because it was being debated on whether mutants would be allowed in school. In Day of Reckoning, the Season 2 Finale, the Brotherhood & X-Men teamed up to take on Magneto. Quicksilver betrayed them, and Magneto exposed them (as well as the existance of a prototype Sentinel) to the world in order to provoke a war between humans and mutants. Things don't settle down until after the episode you mentioned. Day of Reckoning was also the introduction to the Evolution version of the Acolytes (Sabretooth, Gambit, Pyro & Colossus). Guest Ronixis Report post Posted August 4, 2003 Yes- The change from Adult Heros that rocked, to Teenage Heros that sucked. Ok, X-Men Evo Still cant get in to the show- however the best charaters in the series- Scarlet Witch Toad Rogue Logan Cyclops (when with Rogue) The rest are just there which is sad, because most of the 90's series episodes had a reason- and after the series ended, and up until the movie IMO X-Men started to fall off. X-23 was there best episode and some of the 90's series episodes will kill it. That is how far they have to go. The animation is somewhat better than most animated movies-strangely. And lastly, the series will not stay in any of WB's Cable or Networks. It seems DC is pulling some of there stroke and is wanting Kids WB to commit to Teen Titans (That show is even worse than EVO) and get rid of X-Men Evo. Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2003 I'm not even five minutes into this episode, "SpykeCam", and I already hate Spyke's character. He's an annoying little smart aleck...plus, he dissed Toad. No excuse for that.

Guest Ripper Report post Posted August 5, 2003 I just can't like it because the fucked up the story SO much. The first X-Men cartoon didn't stick to the real story that much either, but it did a good job staying true to the writing style and carving its own niche. This show just took some popular characters and completely screwed up their stories. I just can't feel it.

This show just took some popular characters and completely screwed up their stories. I just can't feel it. I hear this a lot from people who hate this series. If it is isn't exactly the same as what they are used to, then they reject it. New X-Men & The Ultimate series gets the same kind of backlash. One guy hated this series solely because Gambit is a villain in it and Rogue doesn't have her Ms. Marvel powers. That kind of reasoning is pathetic. Although you at least admit it is simply a case of you not getting into it, rather than completely dumping on this show (and its fans).
Guest Ripper Report post Posted August 6, 2003 That's because I can see the appeal to the show. I like the animation (although I hate the character design) and I guess it could be intresting. I actually feel the Ultimate X-men and New X-men series alot more than I feel this show. I don't get the people that don't like it because of the old cartoon, but X-men was the first comic I read, and i am more attached to the story than your average viewer. Guest Lethargic Report post Posted August 6, 2003 I'm like everybody that liked it after the slow start. The first season or so was lame as hell. Every week was something like the X teens go see a monter truck show. Once Magneto showed up, once the Mutants got exposed to the world, the show got REAL good REAL damn fast. Once that switch happened, it got to be a LOT better than the original animated series and I never thought I'd say that. I just wish they'd finally show the last 2 or 3 episodes of last season finally.

I haven't read the comics in about 10 years, so maybe somebody can help me out with this question: Is Spyke an actual character in the comics, or is he a made up character for the show? Spyke was a made up character for the show, but Marvel did jam him (kind of) into the New X-Force as an Allen Iverson type... and then they killed him. HURRAY! DangerousDamon 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2003 The show is pretty decent even though there's so much stuff that they've screwed up(Coloseus as a villain?!) or haven't covered(like the love relationship with Cyclops and Jean Grey), But what boggles my mind the most is that ALL of The X-men, the Brotherhood, and Magneto couldn't take down 1 god damn Sentinel! Don't they waste those things in a matter of minutes in the comics?

I became an X-geek from watching the first movie, liked it, bought it, didn't really obsess over it. I watched the second movie and officially became an obsessor of it. I tried searching for comics, but the library doesn't really have any. or haven't covered(like the love relationship with Cyclops and Jean Grey), They decided that if they were a couple right off the bat, it wouldn't be as interesting. So they're sort-of playing around with it, since they're teens.

Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2003 Did anyone see the new episode this weekend with Apocalypse? i didn"t see the episode but i saw the preview for it I think they fucked Apoc"s look a little(or a lot) It's either "Dark Horizon pt1" or "Dark Horizon pt2". The former is the one where Rogue stole everyone's powers, which is an episode I really loved. I'm a huge Rogue mark, so I liked seeing her so totally kick-ass. Aside from Apocalypse, and I'm sure I'll be corrected, but I think Rogue is the strongest chara in the cartoon. I know absolutely nothing about the characters in the comics, so I'm sure there's characters stronger than she is in those.

Guest Gathering Moss Report post Posted August 11, 2003 He died during the "Search For Cyclops" mini series. Apocalypse's body was rapidly deteriorating, and he needed a host to survive. He jumped into Cyclops' body, but was killed when Jean Grey tore him from Scott’s mind.

Guest Askewniverse Report post Posted August 11, 2003 Got any links? Marvel DotComics- I wasn’t interested enough to register, but it seems to be free, so you might want to. Even if you don’t register, you can still look at the comics in the free section. X-Men- Just go to the “dotComics” section. In the upper-right hand corner, there should be a red box with the titles of the various X-Men comics. Click on the title that you want, and it should take you to that particular comic’s sub-site. From each sub-site, go to the “dotComics” section. To view a comic, click on “view” (duh). If you aren’t seeing the word “view,” right-click on your mouse, and make sure that “Play” is checked. Thankies! For anyone who cares, I've reserved two comics from the library... "Hellfire and Brimstone" and "Ultimate X-Men". I also reserved "The Art of X2" just because I'm too broke to buy it. Guest JMA Report post Posted September 10, 2003 I am. Good stuff so far. My favorite character has got to be Lance Alvers AKA Avalanche. I prefer his Evolution character much more than the comic version. I also like that Kelly is starting to get into politics. To tell you the truth, I'm much more interested in the Brotherhood than the X-Men.
