First half of Season 2 was good, but not great. It's like they tried too much too fast. I stood by the "shake up the characters" dynamics a bit though.

Best part of Season 1 was when Oliver finally revealed his "evil plan" to Ryan, and Ryan just went OFF. Honest to God, I threw my hands up like I was marking out at a wrestling show for that scene. Probably my favorite episode of Season 1.

They kept using that Puddle of Mudd song to express Ryan's frustration. "Away From Me."

Such as when Marissa closes the door on Ryan to stay with Oliver after his "overdose" (which was awesome).

"YEAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm always afraid that you're gone away from me.

I'm always afraid that you're lost in somebody.

I'm always afraid that you're gone away from me.

I'm always afraid that you're lost."

Ryan's the fucking man.

The one redeeming thing about Season 2 was the fanbase bitching about how the characters weren't being what made them so great in Season 1...and then, at the end, when Ryan fucking loses it and goes to confront Tre, he does the "IM NOT BEING MYSELF, this whole year (season) I've been trying to be someone different" speech, then gets that look in his eye and is off to the big finale.

Yeah, I agree that the last few scenes of the finale did a lot to redeem the season. The "I've spent the whole year trying to be something I'm not" was the biggest mark-out moment I've had from any show in a long time. Still though, you don't realize what the second season was missing until you go back and see the first season again.

I mean, watching that first season, I'd say that 18 out of 20 episodes that I've watched/rewatched were "good episodes". In season 2, there were maybe three or four "good episodes" the whole season, and they all came at the end with Trey. Furthermore, outside of the finale, none of the "good episodes" from Season 2 were anywhere near as well-crafted as the ones from season 1.

I'd like to think that Season 3 will be better, but with Kirsten in rehab and Trey in a coma, it's hard to get too optimistic.

I believe you have been spoilt but hey, at least you've been forewarned about the lameness.

I hated the Russo reset last year. I get there were problems and I understand that the writers felt the need to get back-to-basics but why did they have to make the first half of the season feel so worthless in retrospect? I loved 'The Chrismukkah That Almost Wasn't' when it was first aired but after the way Lindsay was written out, it just feels so... insignificant.

Oh, come on. It's going to be revealed in the first five seconds of the episode anyway. It's not like you're missing out on some great gradual reveal. I came across it by accident, but when I did, I certainly wasn't pissed.

Just think of it as a summer update about what's going on in OC land.

I'll still watch, I'm not that bothered, but I tend to not like my anticipation to be killed. Just like how in Season 1, everyone found out ahead of time what "the secret" was, but I kept away from it. If I want spoilers, I'll wait for Smackdown results.

The only thing I remember of the "next season" previews is them hyping that someone was

"back"

and everyone in my OC party quickly going "IT'S LUKE!!!"

I think it'll be Jimmy Cooper.

Yeah that would make sense...he did return for the final episode...

Maybe it's just silly hope because Jimmy Cooper really doesnt have any more appeal to me and Luke could be an awesome asset to the show again as long as he is still "babyface" luke.

I would love to see Luke come back if they have somewhere to go with his character. He was awesome when he was Ryan's foil, and he even did a pretty good job as "babyface Luke" when he had a chance, but half the time he wasn't even on the show because they just didn't have anything for him.

If they've got a plan for him, he good be a great contributor, but if he's just going to hang around like Zach did, and do nothing of interest all season, they might as well just leave him of the show.

I've just got the Jem album. I was wondering what tracks did she song on the show? She is the singer that performed at Julie and Caleb's wedding, they used her tracks in the show quite a bit, can't remember where though.

Also, when does season 3 begin?

I agree the good episodes of season 2 were at the end when Trey came. From his return to the finale. The first few episodes were pretty solid as well. The mall episode was good. There were shines in every episodes, like Seth saying something stupid and witty and has anyone else seen what Seth looks like? He got a hair cut and has a little facial hair. I watch Season 1 whenever I get bored, and I watch Season 2 when I just want a quick thrill. The last few episodes give me that.

And about whos coming back

Jimmy Cooper is going to be written as a special guest because he might leave again

. Jeri Ryan is gonna come to the show, the chick from Boston Public. Is that counted as a spoiler?

Her character is Kirsten's friend from rehab

I just popped in the DVDs for the first time in months and damn, this first season is probably the best season of a TV show I've ever seen.  It's THAT good.

Sigh.  I hope Season 3 picks it up!

The Aftermath

In the season three opener, we start off with senior year starting in a few days. It has been a couple of months since the shooting. Trey has been in a coma all this time leaving the D.A. impatiently waiting for his side of the story. Feeling the pressure from the community the D.A. continues to put pressure on Ryan, Marisa, Seth, Summer and others for more information. Meanwhile Julie is steaming mad because Caleb’s accountant won’t give up the goods on Caleb’s will and Kirsten is still in rehab.

My last class ends @ 7:30...

If I miss the season premiere, I will lose myself.

I caved in and decided to give the OC a shot. I ended up getting very hooked and watched the first 6 discs in 4 days or so. I haven't had a chance to get the last disc, but I'll get there.

Yeah, the show is good, but nothing amazing. It seems they are doing TOO many storylines in one season and that can hurt you in the long run.

I dunno, I'll give it a shot this season.
