I would say the upsets came from the West Coast Avengers, The Green Lantern Corps, and the Injustice Gang (in a minor way)... but since its a popularity contest it just means I don't have my finger on the pulse. Ah well.
WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2003 I'm actually quite torqued off about those three upsets and I think most knowledgable comic fans on this board should be too. Both JSA representative's are out in the first round? The Legion jobs to a second rate Avengers led by a guy with a bow and arrow? I can understand the upsets though. There are a whole lot more Marvel punks on this board than DC and you pretty much have to be in DC to really have ever read or be totally aware of the Legion. The JSA, even the new incarnation, is a little old school for the younger crowd and this being a popularity contest there's no way they beat out a group of the most popular villains ever. However, that was just such a thrown together team that had no real chemistry or reason for being outside of selling a few issues. They even had a random white martian on the team just so Martian Manhunter would somebody to fight. That's ghey.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted August 8, 2003 The Legion is weird for me personally since I've never, ever seen the comic on sale anywhere. It's one of those things I know, but I couldn't tell you a whole lot about it. But the Justice Society getting punted in the first round steams my hash. Have these kids today lost all sense of history? Of appreciation for Allan Scott, Jay Garrett, and Ted Grant? Say it ain't so! SAY IT AIN'T SO! And to the Green Lantern Corp? Come on! PS: Didn't DC characters when the first two of these tornements?
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2003 DC guys one the first two (Joker and Batman). I'm fine with the results. I can easily see the First JSA losing, but the second one was obviously tough. They were going against the A-List DC villains. The fireworks would hav flied if it was them against West Coast Avengers. Now that would have been close...I'd guess possibly even a tie. WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2003 And Batman went over Wolverine and Joker went over Magneto. So my guess is it will come down to the Uncanny X-Men vs. the JLA Mag 7 unless your random bracketing makes that matchup before then. If you haven't read it, go pick up back issues of the current JSA series. It's the last comic I regulary collected and a damn good read for those into DC history and continuity. Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2003 I'm fine with most of the results. Quite glad that the WCA made it to Round Two! A little surprised that the JSA lost to the GLs.

WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2003 Unless you are being facetious, you should know that WCA stands for West Coast Avengers. Although they were the Avengers West Coast upon their debut. Now, the Great Lakes Avengers were the team that could kick the ass of everyone else on here. You have this backwards. They started as the WCA and became the Avengers West Coast when Byrne came on the book. Much like Solo Avengers became Avengers Spotlight at the same time. WrestlingDeacon 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2003 My bad, thanks. I have one issue of Avengers Spotlight starring Dr. Druid. Whatever happened to that guy?
Guest Suicide King Report post Posted August 9, 2003 I was actually hoping in my heart of hearts that the Hellfire Club somehow, someway advanced. Sebastian Shaw is badass.
