Lil' Bitch Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 The Japanese media announced today that Takayuki Okada, who wrestled under the name Giant Ochiai, has passed away after spending several days in a coma following what was called a "training accident" at World Japan's dojo. Okada was 30 years old. Okada had worked World Japan, and had also worked for Battlarts, as well as MMA companies DEEP and PRIDE. Okada's highest profile bout had been a losing bid against Ricco Rodriguez in PRIDE. There has been some negative backlash towards World Japan from the Japanese media as the promotion, which has had lukewarm interest at best since it's debut this year, has deflected blame for the incident. Guest Black Tiger Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 so much for WJ Pro, not that they were setting the puroresu world on fire to begin with. I give them another six months before Chosyu has to throw in the towel
Internet Warfare Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 Never heard of him, but any loss of life is terrible news.
Steviekick Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 That's very upsetting to hear. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Downhome Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 I do not know of him either, but whenever we loose a member of the "family" it is horrible news.
{''({o..o})''} Posted August 9, 2003 Report Posted August 9, 2003 My friends and I all had an instant dislike of Giant Ochiai when we saw him on Pride but you never want anything like this to happen to any athelete.
