Dogbert 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2003 In a 1996 issue with "Diesel's WCW Expectations" on the cover, there was a column wherein the writer, whose name escapes me at the moment, was talking about injuries in wrestling. In it, he or she mentioned that Sean Waltman had sustained 13 concussions and counting during his career in pro wrestling. The question I have is: Is this true? It certainly would clear up why Waltman's high-flying nature went the way of the dinosaurs so fast.
cawthon777 0 Report post Posted August 10, 2003 It wouldn't surprise me. During the Kid's first year (he kept up the arial attacks until 96 but 93-94 was when he most relied on it), he regularly missed more than he hit when it came to those high flying moves. His size was such that it didn't take much for an opponent to cause some damage - case in point the injury sustained during his elimination from the MSG Rumble in 94 which resulted in him missing the PPV a week later. I'm sure the neck injury sustained in 95 had something to do with his change in style, as well as when he reaggravated it in 97.
Steviekick 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2003 That sounds very plausible. Mikey Whipwreck took a similar amount of concussions as well. Getting back to X-Pac, that would explain why his high flying vanished
