Brock Lesnar

I doubt it...people BARELY talk about it now, so I'd be surprised if they even remember it down the line.

People WILL remember it.

WWE showing clips of it constantly will help that too. =/

Angle / Lesnar was a dream match because of their amateur wrestling backgrounds (NCAA champion Vs. Olympic gold medalist) It didn't work out that way it should have because that aspect was barely mentioned on TV, but was nicely covered in one of the WWE magazines that focused on WM XIX.

I think it would have worked out better if it was heel Brock vs. face Kurt. I think that's what it was supposed to be originally until Big Slow was clumsy enough to break Brock's rib.

I'm glad they saved it for the main event, I was getting tired of all the Hogan / McMahon hype although I did enjoy the Street Fight.

I'd forgotten all about the botched SSP actually.

I'm not sure if he'll ever go for it again, but I don't think it will define him. Now, if that was the last ME at WM he's ever in, that would be another story.

And what portion of the fanbase reads the magazines? (*Tries to surpress a reading joke reg. the fanbase*) The passing mentions were not enough because the fans are obtuse about that sort of thing - what they needed to do was illustrate the strenghts and weaknesses of both.

Pretty sure you're wrong there.

No one knew that it would be the ME beforehand, in fact, most expected Hogan/Vince to be it. And backstage afterwards it was considered the MOTN, not Angle/Brock.

That and how the crowd went nuts for him towards the end of his match with The Rock at Summerslam.

That had more to do with Rock antipathy than anything else, according to people who were there who heard anti-Rock chants before the show even started.

I'm VERY sure Lesnar was going to retain the title until WM and Angle would have won the RR so Angle / Lesnar @ WM would have still happened. Thanks to TBS, once again, we had another fluke booking that changed the course of WWE history.

Hogan and/or Vince knew they couldn't pull off a good wrestling match since they are poor workers, that's the reason why it was a STREET FIGHT. With Angle / Lesnar, you got a great and pure wrestling match.

And how are you "VERY sure"?

It better be something stronger than faith....

Okay, lemme rephrase that, those were the original plans. Bob (Barron) and Dangerous A can back me on this.

you wanted strong evidence but i bet you weren't prepared for that!

Oh good Lord no.

I mean BARRON? My God.

I'm thinking and thinking and I don't recall ever hearing about how the original plan had that face/heel arrangement. There was speculation over Angle turning face because so many of the TSMers wanted him to turn, but I don't recall Meltzer, for example, stating that it was going to happen for Mania.

If Brock Lesnar were to ever try the Shooting Star Press again it would probably be at SummerSlam against Kurt Angle. WWE using it in their Wrestlemania XX ads isn't helping people forget about it.

actually i could see that happening for a number of reasons

1--it would be apropos to regain the title from angle with the spectacular move that WAS to have originally bagged him the belt.

2--angle has been pulled from the post-summerslam championship four-ways on the house show circuit, suggesting (though by no means confirming) that he MIGHT drop the belt back to lesnar at the ppv. talk of a couple nagging injuries for kurt also make that plausible.

3--summerslam's not as big a stage as mania were he to fuck it up again, but big enough to make it legendary were he to hit it.

4--the elimination chamber will likely be the main event, so again it wouldn't be as damaging should the move be botched a second time.

5--it would put lesnar's demons to rest having fucked up his secret weapon first time out.

How the hell did my name get dragged into this? Whatever....

I also don't even think about the botched SSP unless someone brings it up.

I most remember for Brock for F5ing the Big Show the first time. One of the most incredible things I've seen live
