MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Fifty-four-year-old rock 'n' roller Ozzy Osbourne and wife Sharon sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" for the seventh-inning stretch Sunday at Wrigley Field. One can't blame Ozzy for not knowing the words, since he was born in Birmingham, England. But in the overall picture, it was pure Ozzy. Chip Caray: "All right, Chicago. Here comes Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne." Ozzy: "All right, Chicago. I want to hear a real crazy crowd start singing. Are you ready? Are you ready? I can't hear you. Are you ready? "One. Two. Three. "Let's go out to the ballgame. Let's go out to the bluhhhhhn. "Take me a ee-yan eeya (humming) the field. "I don't care if I ahh-uhn ack. "Da da da da duh da da da eam. Duh ee, da da da da dahhh. "For a fee, two, three strikes you're out at the old ballgame. Yeahhhhhh." Sharon: "Now let's get some runs." Ozzy: "Yeah. Let's get some runs." Near the end of the broadcast, WGN-Ch. 9 showed a replay of legendary Los Angeles Dodgers announcer Vin Scully giving the thumbs up after Osbourne's rendition. "If you get the seal of approval from Hall of Famer Vin Scully, you know you're doing OK," Caray said. Real Audio clip I think that that was the worst I've ever heard, although it was pretty funny. ant_7000 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 I watched the game yesterday and heard him sing it, he straight butchered the song. Guest Lethargic Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Actually one of the guys on our local sportstalk has ties to the Cubs and is good friends with Chip Carey, I think that's his name, and he was talking about this all last week. Kept telling everybody to watch it because it was going to be so funny. Apparently people at the Cubs had been talking to Ozzy's people and trying to get him to do it as "funny" Ozzy and even offered him money to drop a F bomb during the song. So I don't think it was legit at all seeing as how I heard all this before hand. It kinda pisses me off now to have to listen to all these people who are talking about how stupid Ozzy is and how stupid it was, when it was in fact requested to be done that way. And face it, the only time you can understand Ozzy is when he's singing, suddenly he was even retarded doing that.
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2003 Honestly, I think he either didn't know the words or forgot them. Its not like he's the only one who fucked up the song (eventhough he was the worst to sing it), like Ditka, Mongo and him threating the ump and Nancy Kerrigan. ant_7000 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2003 ^Ditka was almost late getting into the booth to sing, so he was running from where he was at (I forgot where), and then he was trying to sing it real fast and while exhausted at the same time.
Rob E Dangerously 0 Report post Posted August 19, 2003 Ditka's "Take me out to the ballgame" version was basically all yelling. How about this version of "Take me out to the ball game" (babelfished from English to Japanese to English) "Do to the game of sphere to keep accompanying me, crowd take. If if shame do not win, I a certain peanut am bought to that, if I do not return under any condition, the jack of the cracker, I do not worry, in order to become fixed because I become fixed for the foam/home team, the fact that it becomes fixed is not permitted. JHawk 0 Report post Posted August 20, 2003 You'd think the Cubs would make sure the person they get to sing the song would actually know the words before they got into the booth.
