Interview with Edge

Date: Monday, August 18, 2003

Location: Toronto, Canada

Interviewer: Joltin' Joe

Report By: Thushyan Nadarajah of RingRage.com

Joe introduces his guest, Canadian born SmackDown superstar Edge!

Joe starts off the interview by asking Edge if he stays up to date with Hulk Hogan. Edge says that he idolizes Hogan, but he hasn't called him ever since Hogan left WWE. Edge hopes that Hogan will some day return to the WWE, as he has done on numerous occasions in the past, and he wishes him the best of luck in the future.

Joe asks Edge for his thoughts on the SummerSlam poster. Edge says that the poster looks great, since Sable is very revealing.

Joe mentions the upcoming Elimination Chamber match at SummerSlam and asks Edge who he thinks will win. Edge says that he looks for Chris Jericho to win the title at SummerSlam.

Joe asks Edge for his thoughts on Brock Lesnar turning heel on SmackDown. Edge says that he loves the idea. He goes on to say that some guys are better off as heels because they are so much more entertaining to watch, for example John Cena and Eddie Guerrero.

Joe states that Kurt Angle came out of neck repair surgery after only 6-8 weeks, though Edge will still have to stay out of action for several more months. Joe goes on to ask Edge if he regrets having spinal fusion instead of neck repair surgery. Edge says he doesn't regret having spinal fusion because it gave him more time off to relax and catch up with his personal life.

Joe asks Edge what has surprised him the most about RAW and SmackDown. Edge says that the angle with Kane was surprising at first, but now he thinks it's absolutely amazing. He says that Kane is now able to express himself and probably feels a lot more comfortable with his character. Edge says that Eddie Guerrero has surprised him the most on SmackDown because he's just been igniting the crowd lately. He says that he enjoys watching Eddie perform.

Joe asks Edge if there is a possibility we can see him make his return at WrestleMania XX. Edge says that it's very likely, though he would first have to get rid of some ring rust, so he'll probably have a few matches on SmackDown before WrestleMania XX.

Joe finishes the interview by asking Edge if he has anything to say to the fans of Toronto and Canada. Edge says that he would love to have his comeback match in Toronto and he's always going to be around here for the fans.

Joltin' Joe thanks Edge for being a great guest and the interview ends there.

[Thanks to Joltin' Joe's Wrestling Hotline for contributing. You can call (416) 350-3000 ext. 2049 to listen to the interview. Long distance charges may apply.]

Edge saying that he looks for Chris Jericho to win the Elimination Chamber at SummerSlam on Sunday just took away all hope that I had left for it happening. My hope was already low after seeing Jericho go over Nash on Raw & stand atop the ramp at the end of the show with the World Title over his shoulder.

I bet Edge is somewhat kicking himself for not going with the thing Angle had done. Then again I'm pretty sure everyone will continue getting the spinal fusion business until they can be for sure that Angle's neck is not gonna implode.

Edge had already went under the knife before the option was available. At least that's my understanding on it.

He's commented on it in the past. He said he still would've taken the year long surgery "just in case."

Don't give up hope just yet. Edge picked Kurt Angle to win the WWE title at Vengeance and Angle won.

I don't think Edge's opinion matters anyway. He's not been in the locker room much, and when he has it's likely mostly been to talk to his friends and hang out--I doubt he's privy to the gossip backstage or anything going on in booking meetings. His opinion is as good as any fan at this time.

Still, WWE's "even steven" booking usually has the person who looks strong in the last show before the PPV losing in the PPV match. And Jericho won the Hair vs. Hair and came out on top at the end-of-Nitro WE'RE OUT OF TIME brawl.

So unless they swerve us, I think HHH or Goldberg leaves as World Champ.

Ooh, I can't wait for that. Edge was one of my favorite parts of Smackdown.

I want my Rock/Edge match!

CC didn't post this? Shocking...

Well excuse me for going out tonght....don't worry, I would have posted the interview. Bitch.

I hope to god that Edge does get back by Wrestlemania. It would suck for him to miss two WM in a row...especially WM XX.

If Rock returns before then, I figure that Raw will need him more, though.

Edge is respected in the SmackDown! locker room - he won a lot of friends when he was asked by WWE to critique SmackDown! durng his recovery.

Apprantely he was quite critical in many respects and the WWE brass didn't like this and kindly informed Edge his input was no longer neeeded.

Of course, they did, because Adam Copeland's input was way too logical for the WWE to comprehend.

We just can't have real logic in the WWE now, can we?
