Guest JMA Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 I have to agree with L4W when he said the entire promo was unsettling in his Raw review. I know the WWE is trying to get La Resistance over as Evil Foreign heels but I think they went much too far. Calling Americans "terrorists" was crossing the line. I pretty much hate this entire angle. Whenever they do something this politicial it makes me feel very uncomfortable. And is it really ethical to base an angle on the national turmoil our world is facing? Does it bother anyone else?
Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 America = Only Country to bomb other countries back into the stone age. Hey, you can't argue that. Japan use to be more than an island before they decided to think they could take us.

Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 I meant it in a Defense sort of way. Not that we were the antagonizers.
cue_meanie Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Well there is a good number of people outside the states who feel that way, so its a good point. How would you feel if you were bombed for 10 years just because your "leader" is a bad guy.
bob_barron Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Why is JMA so obsessed with this La Resistance angle??? I don't have a problem with it at all since it's wrestling and it's FAKE.
Guest TheAnvil Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 I think it makes people uncomfortable because they're too uptight/insecure about dealing with hot issues. Who cares if people get offended? It's reality that parts of the world view America as "terrorist" or "evil", and if don't know that, you're ignorant. So why can't the WWE use that as an angle?
Guest JMA Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Why is JMA so obsessed with this La Resistance angle??? I just am. Stop trying to figure it out.
Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 ::comes out of hiding from behind a rock:: I thought I'd get flamed because I stated fact that America (I'm American, so really, I'm not some foreign SCUM~! trying to be a jerk) really likes to over-kill with bombings.
bob_barron Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 It just bothers me. They're just cutting these promos to get cheap heat from the crowd- and it's working. Would you rather La Res not be over?

Why? What you said was absolutly true.
Tawren Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 It's characters, not people. I'm sure Conway has nothing against America in real life. It's just a character. What it really is is a crutch for lazy booking.

razazteca Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 I would rather have Cade & Jinjrak have La Res spot as the tag team flavor of the moment.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Speaking of the promo, who else thinks it was pretty good? I don't agree with the content, but I actually liked his delivery of it. He's also got a "wrestling promo" voice. I think that if he had another minute or so to continue the promo (It just seemed to die off), it would have really good?
Ace309 Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Why is JMA so obsessed with this La Resistance angle??? I just am. Stop trying to figure it out. Clearly, JMA is Bubba Ray Dudley's internet alter-ego.
Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 I have no clue, but isn't Rob Conway American?
Guest JMA Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Clearly, JMA is Bubba Ray Dudley's internet alter-ego. But I don't agree with what the Dudleys say about France either. And I prefer "Buh Buh" not "Bubba."
Guest JMA Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 I have no clue, but isn't Rob Conway American? He's a French sympathizer.

Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 To be fair, alot of people in countries around the world that will get RAW later this week (including myself here in England) will likely be nodding their heads during the promo and wondering why it is a heel promo...
Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Rob Conway isn't telling you anything you don't already know.

Would you rather La Res not be over? I'd rather them get over without using cheap heat. But since they're really green there's no other way they're going to get over. Would you rather they be bland rookies like Orlando Jordan? Remember JMA- Rob Conway really doesn't feel that way
Corey_Lazarus Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 And who's really had the last laugh? Japan is the most technologically advanced country in the world and half the things that are taboo in American society earn an "eh, whatever" from them 'cause they're above it all. Still not allowed to show pubic hair, though. And, in the end, wouldn't you rather see a nice twat with a little bush than play Super Mario?
Guest The Real Nosferatu Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 You got a point there...LOL Damn Japanese Censors!
Guest TheArchiteck Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Well, I didn't feel sick after hearing it. Because its an actual fault of this country...no reason to sugarcoat things. It's also plenty of positive things about this country that the Dudleys should use instead of saying, "France SUCKS, AMERICA RULEZ aLL!".
Guest Loss Posted August 27, 2003 Report Posted August 27, 2003 Still not allowed to show pubic hair, though. And, in the end, wouldn't you rather see a nice twat with a little bush than play Super Mario?[\QUOTE] No.
