The one moment that sticks out in my mind about that episode is the part where Kurt Angle doctors the footage of Triple H & Chyna hugging right in front of Steph. Then, later, HHH comes in to see Angle & Steph in the VIP room. Kurt sneaks out, and Steph SLAPS Hunter and accuses him of having an affair with Chyna behind her back.

STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN in a nontitle match - Austin foregoes the corner pose in favour of giving van Dam a bum's rush - right, right, right, right, right, right, van Dam trying the gutshot but no effect - Austni with a knee, knee, knee, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp stomp. Austin points to himself! Austin with a knee on the back of van Dam's neck. van Dam put against a second turnbuckle - knee in the back - again - again - Austin cranking back on the neck with his knee in the back. "RVD" chant - it must CRUSH Herb Kunze to hear his fellow countrymen chanting about their veneral diseases! Stomp, stomp, stomp. Austin to his knees - blatant choke - referee "Blind" Nick Patrick having little success getting Austin to follow the rules. Austin picks him up - going for the Stunner prelude gutshot but van Dam catches the boot, steps over and hits a spinning heel kick to Austin's face! Austin comes in - van Dam ducks, right, kick, right, kick, elbow, elbow, elbow, kick, kick, elbow, Austin to the eyes. Knee in the back and van Dam runs into the turnbuckle. Austin with a knife-edge chop, chop, chop, right hand, into the opposite corner, van Dam gets the elbow up. van Dam vaults to the top...Austin shoves him OVER the corner into the barricade! "Holy shit!" chant. Give it a Clearasil Replay as Austin follows out, grabs the hair, and runs van Dam into the apron. Chop. Another hairpull - van Dam put over the barricade into the crowd - Austin follows. van Dam fires back - right, kick, right, overhead kick, right, spinning overhead kick that puts Austin back over the barricade! Kick by van Dam, head to the commentary table, knee, Austin rolled back in. van Dam follows - and Austin goes back outside. van Dam back out - Austin with a big-time clothesline. van Dam's head hits the ringpost. Austin points to himself again - Austin RULES - van Dam's head meets the STEEL steps. Austin stands on the neck. "Austin sux" chant. van Dam rolled back in, Austin follows, leg is hooked, 1, 2, van Dam kicks out. Austin puts van Dam on top - van Dam trying to pound on Austin's back - Austin to the eyes - chop, open-handed slap, right, climbing up, SUPERPLEX!! 1, 2, van Dam kicks out! Austin gives Patrick a quick "What?" and goes back to work. van Dam with a gutshot, right, left, right, right, right, right, into the opposite corner, but Austin hangs onto the ropes and the dropkick goes nowhere. Austin to the second rope for the...no, changed his mind and climbs back down - stomp. van Dam put on the second rope...for the big illegal choke. Austin rolls outside and pulls van Dam over the bottom rope. Austin pulls him outside - they walk to the ramp - going for a suplex but it's blocked - blocked again - van Dam with a suplex ONTO THE RAMP! van Dam swings, Austni ducks...Austin crotches him on the barricade - clothesline in the back. van Dam rolled back in - Austin after him - pulled into a short clothesline - leg is hooked - 1, 2, van Dam kicks out! Knee in the back, Austin hits the chinlock. "RVD!" van Dam fights back to his feet...elbow, elbow, elbow, uppercut, Austin with a right, right, van Dam right, Austin, van Dam, van Dam, van Dam, off the ropes but Austin tries the KICK again, van Dam shoves him off - dropkick!! van Dam off the ropes - superfluous cartwheel, backflip press MEETS THE KNEES....Austin rolls out...and grabs a chair. Don't tell me van Dam won't job to AUSTIN...Austin ready with the chair - van Dam with the spin kick into the chair - ohhhhh no the van Daminator! Crowd goes nuts. van Dam vaults to the top...Austin sweeps a foot to crotch him on top. Austin to the second rope - van Dam fighting the attempt - right, right, right, elbow, elbow, elbow shoves Austin out of the corner - Fivestar frog splash MISSES!!! Austin stands at the ready - KICK WHAM STUNNER - 1, but Austin unhooks the leg - rolls him over - ohhhh he wants the anklelock! But suddenly Angle's music plays, and his pyro goes off...Austin drops everything and looks to the entryway...van Dam up from behind with a schoolboy - 1, 2, 3! (10:08) Of course, they play ANGLE'S music...hey KURT ANGLE is out with another big smile for Austin...oh but we're desperately out of time - credits are up GOODBYE!

WWF EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP: PERRY (with Terri) v. AL SNOW (with Head) - Champ enters first because that's how they do it in Europe. Tonight, SmackDown! is brought to you by RC Edge cola, Honda, and "Divas: Postcard from the Caribbean." Is this a blowoff match? Cool! Saturn pounds on Snow as he parts the ropes, and we're underway. Head to the buckle, right, right, right, right, into the opposite corner, Saturn reverses it back to the first corner, press and slam. Front fact - vertical suplex. Saturn goes outside for a quick rendezvous with Terri - allowing the Snowman enough time to come over the top with a pescado onto Saturn! Snow stomping away on the outside - right, into the barricade (and almost into Jim Dotson) - scoop...and a slam, out on the floor. Going for the moonsault off the barricade, but Terri shoves off before he can do it. Snow walks back with a look for Terri - back over the barricade and towrads Terri....Saturn nails him with a kick from behind. Rammed shoulder first into the STEEL steps. Undertaker/Benoit is NEXT! Back in the ring, Saturn with a Northern Lights suplex onto the arm, wrenching that same arm, Snow punches back, but Saturn is still holding the left arm and he works it some more. Arm wringer, chicken wing takeover (well...maybe not), and holding the armbar. Snow isn't sure how to get out of this. Saturn kicks the elbow - then shoves the shoulder right into the corner. Snow with a kick, Saturn kicks back, Snow kicks, Saturn mauls him with a forearm. Still in the corner, but now Saturn takes him out - by golly, is that a chicken wing? Saturn threatens to break his arm. Maybe that's more of a half nelson...anyway, referee "Blind" Teddy Long asks Snow if he wants to give up, but Snow won't do it. Here's a look at Terri's nipples. Snow tries to elbow out with his "good" (right) elbow - there's three elbows, Saturn pulls the hair, but Snow ducks the clothesline. Snow with a right, right, right, right, into the ropes, back elbow, left-handed clothesline but Snow clutches his hurt arm after the move. Snow with a scoop slam - STILL trying to shake off the pain in his left arm, climbing to the top...but Saturn slips in under him as he's on the second rope - powerbomb coming up...NO! Snow drops and slowly rolls it into a slo-mo 'rana, Saturn helpfully bopping his head on the way down - Snow hooking BOTH legs - 2! Saturn rolls it forward for 2. Snow kicks out and drives the shoulders down for 2, Saturn kicks out and puts the legs over the shoudlers for 2, Snow rolls forward for 1, Saturn seesaws back for 1 - they finally both get up and Saturn clotheslines Snow down HARD. Into the ropes, but Snow slides to a stop, gets up...and runs into a superkick attempt. BUT he shoves it aside and catches him in a uranage into a sitout powerbomb! Why cover? Snow says that's it and goes up for the moonsault - WOW! It hits. But Terri is up on the apron and holding onto Head. Snow gets up and walks over. He takes Head from Terri and grabs the back of HER head - is he gonna kiss her? No, he's gonna SHOVE HER OFF THE APRON TO THE FLOOR! Go, Snow! Long-distance thong shot, by the way. Anyway, Snow has Head and he's ready to use it. Cover, leg hooked - 1, 2...Long decides to stop counting and see Head in the ring instead. Oh MAN Teddy Long is one LAME ref. "What's this?" Umm, that's Head - you've never seen her before? Long asks if he used it. While they have a meeting of the minds, Saturn sneaks up from behind, hits a Tiger suplex and holds on for the bridge - 1, 2, NO!! Long tosses Head to the corner. Lawler: "A little Head never hurt anybody!" Terri throws Head BACK in, to Saturn, who swings and misses, Snow with a right, right, right, into the ropes, reversed, drop toehold by Saturn, going for the Rings of Saturn but Snow throws back his left elbow to Saturn's face in an attempt to keep him from locking it on - Saturn DOES break the hold, and Snow moves into ...the Dragon sleeper! Tony Schiavone: "That's his move!" Saturn TAPS!!! Holy shit! Titles don't change hands on SmackDown! but nonetheless...ladies and gentlemen, we have a new European champion. (5:25) Snow remembers to keep Long from raising his hurt left arm. Snow just rocked our world, y'all.

The 8/31 Smackdown was in Fayetteville and that was the first Smackdown taping I had ever been too. The only thing I remember was right before the main event, Lawler got a show woman to flash her breasts on the ovaltron and I was sitting in such a way that I was behind it. Fun times.

Holy shit, that RVD/Austin match is my favorite free-TV match. Can't believe it was only 2 years ago. Seems like much longer. I've tried finding it on Kazaa to download for months, but have never been able to find it.

I cain't wait...that's it, I cain't wait for Unforgiven, I have gotta whip somebody's ass, I have gotta whip somebody's ass tonight, 'cause I cannot wait for Unforgiven? Is it gonna be you? Should I whip your ass, huh? Should I whip yours? Should I whip yours, huh? Should I whip every one of your asses, huh? Who wants a piece o' me? Look at me, who wants some - who wants some o' me? Austin opens the door and finds Rob van Dam walking in. "Hey Steve, what's up? How ya doin'?" "Your little buddies in the Alliance got something to tell you." "Okay!" "Debra..." "Hey Debra!" "Heh!" "Later.....what's that about?" Everybody else: "Oooooooh."

Back in the dressing room, Austin paces...and Debra watches. There's a knock at the door. "Come in!" It's van Dam. "You wanted to see me?" "Yeah I wanted to see ya! Your buddies in the Alliance told you what was going on, didn't they?" "Yeah, they--" "YEAH when you stepped through that door you were the man - you ARE the man. I can't WAIT for Unforgiven - no I can't. Tonight, your name is Kurt Angle. Thank you." "Okay, Stone Cold. But I'm not Kurt Angle - I'm Points - To - Self." Off he goes. Austin spikes his belt. "You hear that (beep)? He's Kurt Angle! He's Kurt Angle! He's Kurt Angle!" Austin rubs his head

Well the naming rights part of it was solved a couple of months earlier when Road Dogg & X-Pac beat HHH & Gunn for rights to D-X. Gunn at this point is couple of weeks from reforming the New Age Outlaws and then about six or seven weeks from D-X just simply being reunited again.

THAT SLUT CHYNA v. KING ASS to determine the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship - it's like Chyna just LIVES to give up her title shots, as she puts he title shot on the line. Let Us Take You Back Two Weeks to Raw as Chyna giggles and signs a contract before Gunn can. Last week on THIS show, Chyna hit Gunn in a tender area, and a few days ago she walloped him with a gee-tar which may or may not have actually have been met for Jeff Jarrett. Speaking of JEDOUBLEF JADOUBLEREDOUBLET, he, DE-BRA and MISS KITTY make THEIR way down to the ringside. It's the World Entrance Federation at it's very finest as both women are greased up nicely. Jarrett takes a headset and tries to be "old school" but ends up being "boring." Hey! They're shoving! Hey! Chyna just mooned Ass! Hey! Ass just shoved Chyna with his boot! Hey! There's a spear from Chyna! And Ass is forced to sell it! Suddenly, Gunn says, "nah" and shrugs her off. He tries to put some verbal offense on her, but she goes back to forearms and elbows - suplex attempt? Nuts to that! Ass takes CHYNA into a suplex - but she manges to shrug THAT off, backflips for no apparent reason, then hits a DDT for 2. Off the ropes we go, Ass reverses and hits a back elbow. Stomp, stomp, "we want puppies" chant. Whip out of the corner, Gunn spins her around and Chyna FLIES over the top rope to the floor. Chyna holds her elbow and tricks Gunn into being sympathetic and holding off. Then she levels him and runs him into the STEEL steps. Now relieving the timekeeper of his chair and running Gunn's head into it. Chyna takes Gunn back into the ring and follows. Chyna shoves Gunn into referee "Blind" Jim Korderas, who was in the wrong place at the wrong time and falls to the floor. NOW Gunn hits the Fame'Asser, but since the ref's out, there's plenty of time for TRIPLE H to sneak in and Pedigree Mr. Ass, then roust Korderas to count the pinfall for Chyna. (3:27) Check that replay and notice that they've wisely moved the SmackDown! logo away from the "UPN" logo corner.
