Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted August 31, 2003 Now then. I've heard about people listening to video gaming soundtracks, but I'm curious about whether or not people actually listen to remixes that ordinary 'rogue' musicians create on a particular song. Originally, I didn't really care for the idea myself, but I was bored one night and decided to listen to one as I had nothing better to do. Well, I went to OverClocked ReMix and downloaded a song called Pilot The Yggdrasil (remix of Xenogears "Wings") and I was quite astonded at how good it sounded. Now, I actually listen to quite a few of them. I've heard a couple of different takes on some songs from particular games and I must say that I was quite impressed as some of them were actually more of how I pictured the song to be; as was the case with the remix Terra In Black (remix of Final Fantasy 6's "Terra"). Some songs I found quite interesting as the slight addition from a different aspect (or so this artist tells) to his song Jethro And Vash At The Fair (remix of Millenium Fair from Chrono Trigger) a unique spin on it. That's not to say most of them are all quite professional sounding, or 'serious' in tone, as I found a few that were not, but definitely gave me quite a few laughs as some people added some hilarious vocals to some songs. Such as ROBOVoice (remix of "Go Boco Go!"), Team Gato (remix of "Team Gato"), and Rabbit Joint Cover (the remix of The Legend Of Zelda Title, done by The Rabbit Joint and not System Of A Down). I must say that I definitely now go out of my way to listening to regularly done remixes as they can be some great pieces of work. Also, you might've noticed that I linked all the songs and site so that you can take a sample or listen to a lot. But as I asked in the beginning, does anyone else listen to remixes of some video game songs? Or am I alone in this?
Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2003 Pretty much every piece on Overclocked is good so singling them out is fruitless. They aren't as good as the originals, most of the time, but still good.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2003 I wasn't so much singling them out as showing off a couple of my favorites. That's all.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2003 Most video game song remixes are good, even unauthorized ones such as OC. Well except Laguna's official theme remixed from FF8, that one sucked ass.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2003 I would order a couple of fan cd remixes, but it's hard to do when you are poor and jobless. Depends Rico. Do you mean A Man With A Trance Machine? Or Desperado? Or both songs?
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2003 Well, I loved his original (the trance one) and then they did an "Arranged" version of it, which was horrible to me.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2003 Ah. Yah, the arranged one wasn't really that inspiring at all as it butchered the song in my opinion. Concept was good, the way it was handled was not.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2003 The Street Fighter II Image Album is the best music I have heard, and that was made of 1992.
