The 52 week average for Smackdown is 3.4, so this week's rating is slightly above that. The NFL football game on ABC drew an overall rating of 12.9. Last week's Smackdown was preempted in several markets and went up against the MTV Music Awards, which draws from Smackdown's prime demographic of male teens. In fact, this week's Smackdown increased 57 percent among male teens (3.0 last week, 4.7 this week), which spotlights the effect MTV had on last week's viewership. The only show to beat Smackdown this week among male 12-34 and all teens was NFL Football on ABC. The highest quarter hour last night was for Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle in Q5. It drew a 4.0 rating."

If he feuded with benoit for the title while Angle and Eddy feuded with Lesnar and Show... ratings AND great matches.

That might be true but NYC and DC are HUGE markets... NYC tends to be wwe's main market...for obvious reasons of course.
