Has anyone ever been carried

It's very rare someone changes their mind about something like this, but if you wanta go for the arguments lets hear them. What makes HBK/Nash a * match?

would anyone consider Flair vs. Windham in that one hour classic from a world taping back in the late 80's a carry? I know Windham was a decent worker, but I can't recall him having any other CLASSIC five star matches like he had with Flair

Windham's been in a bunch of great matches throughout his career. He's no slouch

First off, let's review the context of Bret's statement that he "carried" the Bulldog. He'd had a major falling out with Davey Boy, and was likely to say anything that would belittle his accomplishments.

 

Watch the match. Yeah, Bulldog looked nervous and got winded fast and Bret took to the mat for a few minutes, but after that Bulldog gets his bearings again and it's all good. I certainly never got the impression that Bret was doing 100% of the work in it.

I agree and I only saw Davey winded for one-four minutes...after that aside from a sloppy backdrop spot, he was crisp and smooth...

Bulldog probably wasn't that petty to argue over who carried a match

No one remembers bulldog held his own a few years later in that Bloodbath IYH match...wasn't a Clinical match like Slam was but it was still a hellaciously fun match

I always fancied Dynamite's work in Stampede during late 70's and the early 80's to be the best carry jobs I've ever seen.

WP-This is an unfair quote. I'm 99% sure Bret was talking about the carry before Davey died. Also, it seems to me that it was Bret who led Davey through the match. Dynamite talks about this in his book. For the most part it's the heel that leads and the face that follows. Bret was the one in charge of the offence for most of the match making Davey the "underdog" in his home country. Bret was leading and Davey was following, not that there's anything wrong with that. Davey "had" to be the one getting beat up constantly in the match for the fans to rally. From Bret's clothesline countered to Davey's crucifix, Bret's bodylam where Davey holds on to the hammerlock, getting caught on the top rope before Davey's flying headbutt, Bret having his European uppercut countered to the backslide (hope spot for the face when he's getting beat down) and the sleeper spots which get the crowd to rally behind Davey it's Bret initiating the offence for Davey to counter. Although the match finish would have to be preplanned you can tell it was probably Bret who called for what time it'd happen. You can even see Bret talking to Davey while in a chinlock at least a couple of times if you look close enough. Bret also was very smart here even on defence as he's the one who exits the ring off of a shoulder block showing just a tint of heelness.

Now, Davey Boy did his work here as well. He brought his cool offence on the typical face comback and executed all of his moves nicely.(flying headbutt debatable) It tales two to tangle and if Davey wasn't smart enough to say go up for the 2nd crucifix allowing Bret to counter by slamming Davey down (a typical spot back in the day), suplex Bret back in the ring before Bret germans him or even hitting Bret with his finisher allowing Bret to be equal in toughness during the match than the match wouldn't have been as good.
