Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 With the Tokyo Game Show looming in the near future, Konami recently revealed a bounty of details regarding Suikoden IV, its upcoming addition to the Suikoden series. Suikoden IV will be set in an archipelago modeled after the southern regions of Japan; the game appears to have a lot of coastal scenery. So far, only two of the 108 characters have been announced: the unnamed hero and his companion Snow. While nothing is known about Snow at this point, the hero already has a lot going for him. The main character is an orphan who was raised in the servitude of a lord. He hails from the island nations, which were hinted at in the previous Suikoden titles. The hero eventually becomes bound to the Curse Rune, which is one of the 27 True Runes that compose the energy of the world. The Curse Rune bestows incredible power upon its user at the expense of draining his or her life. In addition, it has had numerous hosts over the years, and once it drains a user to the point of death it passes itself to a new host. The seemingly parasitic rune allows its current host to access the memories of the past hosts in fragments, and those memories often burden the heart of the host with pain. Suikoden IV will have many graphical improvements over its PlayStation 2 predecessor, Suikoden III. These improvements include filters and better lighting to enhance the realism of the game. In addition, Junko Kouno, who is known for designing the characters of the original Suikoden, will do the character designs in this title as well. A trailer of Suikoden IV is set to be shown at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, which will begin on September 26. The actual game is expected to be released in Japan sometime next year. About damn time we get this story continued... I wanna know the revelance of those two mysterious people. Your thoughts?
{''({o..o})''} 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 You just keep on bringing the goodness Flik . I hope it turns out a little better than 3 honestly. Also wondering if it's gonna be set right after 3 or another big jump in years so we get less reaccuring chacters again. I would love to have McDohl return and maybe a little bit more between Yuber and Pesmerga but I heard they are saving that for the last game. And as a last thought bring back the Iron Chef competitin from 2 dammit!

I would love to have McDohl return and maybe a little bit more between Yuber and Pesmerga but I heard they are saving that for the last game. And as a last thought bring back the Iron Chef competitin from 2 dammit! Heh... I'm trying my hardest to live up to expectations lately. Oh and I so hope Suikoden 4 is better than 3. That's all I ask too. Here's what I know from Suikoden experts (unlike myself) who own the specified timeline thing. This Cursed Ruin story would probably take place at least another couple of decades (if I remember what I read correctly from the site that's dedicated to Suikoden's timeline stuff) from Suikoden 3. My personal opinion but I think McDohl will probably decide the Yuber and Pesmerga situation for some reason. And I meant more about WHY those two (Yuber and Pesmerga) are going back and forth, not them beating the hell out of each other. Cursed Rune sounds almost akin to the Soul Eater Rune in the aspect that it destroys the person who wears it, except in one case, one gets long lasting life and the other widdles his life away. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 Wasn't Edge supposed to be going to the Island Nations to meet with someone, presumably Viktor?
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 Wasn't Edge supposed to be going to the Island Nations to meet with someone, presumably Viktor? I was assuming that the next part in the timeline would be another leap in time. Given the impression I got from the Suikoden site that deals with the timeline (I forgot what the heck the name is). Maybe I'm wrong, probably am on the time jump part.
Star Ocean 3 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 I've almost given up on Konami, Suikoden is an awful series and this probably won't be much better.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 I've almost given up on Konami, Suikoden is an awful series and this probably won't be much better. Ok. First one was pretty good, second one wasn't half bad. Third is a clusterfuck. If the fourth gets past the second I'll be a happy fucking camper.

First one was pretty good, second one wasn't half bad. Third is a clusterfuck. If the fourth gets past the second I'll be a happy fucking camper. They got progressively worse. 1 was OK, 2 started off decent, but its crappiness fell through, and 3 is garbage.

I still like the whole storyline of Suikoden though, hence why I posted this up.
Guest Smues Report post Posted September 14, 2003 Everyone rips on 3, but it wasn't bad at all. I liked it, it was just different than the other ones. 1 was good, 2 was great, 3 was good. Hopefully 4 keeps up the streak of good games.
Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 I rip on three because the battles just KILLed my wanting to play the game. Seriously, it blew that you could only control only half of your party as I ended up having NO chance of curing people who needed it and having half the team attacking. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Oh, and add that that FLAME CHAMPION, doesn't show up until the final part of the game and becomes a non-factor, doesn't help things either. Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2003 Suikoden II is one of my favourite games of all time. I rip on three because the battles just KILLed my wanting to play the game. Seriously, it blew that you could only control only half of your party as I ended up having NO chance of curing people who needed it and having half the team attacking. It was actually quite easy once you got the hang of it. None of the Suikoden games were very hard. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): I thought that was a nice twist actually.
