Well, if the opening episode is anything to go by, I'll love this season.

 

One thing bugged me though, when Wes saw Spike, he gave a very reassured "Spike", like he'd met seen him before. Now admittedly he's a watcher and there isn't many bleach blonde vampires around but still, the tone didn't seem right. The fact that I nit-pick that, shows what a tight episode it was though.

They actually explained why Wes knew Spike in one of the earlier Season 5 episodes. Spike and Wes met early in Wes's career as a Watcher and fought each other to a draw, with both sides swearing Vendetta against the other. Sadly the writers never followed up on this revelation as Spike and Wes never made referrence to their rivalry again...

Edit: woo! It just came back on! It's been off for at least 20 minutes.

Actually, Spike was lying to Fred because he didn't want Wesley involved. He never fought Wesley. His father did face Spike, though. Spike is actually a pretty famous vampire. He IS of the blood of both Angelus and The Master.

Well I guess she got a taste of vamp power and said "to hell with slap fighting"....eventually. Or maybe she realized that she'd have to do better than slap fighting...or I forgot that she was slap fighting after being vamped when I wrote that....silly me.

I think the reason she was doing backflips and such this time, was because she was pretty ticked off, and unlike the slapfight with Xander, felt her unlife was actually threatened.

It was golden, I tell you. The commercial at the beginning, the dog constantly growling at Harm, the parting jabs Spike had for Angel, Harmony constantly insulting Fred while they were bonding, Harmony throwing everyone in the closet, "Or it was a gay vampire!", Harm flipping out on Dan the Man, how the demons constantly called Angel a man-whore, and of course the CHOPSTICK FIGHT OF DEATH.

 

Plus Harmony is very hothot.

 

The weakest thing about the ep was the lame reason for Spike staying in LA. But I can forgive that. Harmony + Xander + Giles + Andrew + sitcom. It would work, people.

I must be the only one who liked Spike's reasons. He's right...how do you just pop in and say "I'm alive!" after all that?? He'll brood over how to do it for awhile, but by the end of the season he'll probably go meet her...find she's moved on...and be okay with it.

IMO, good episode. I don't care that we're being gradually introduced into the season again and that it didn't even focus on the main story - because it provided some much needed character development for Harmony. She's pretty much been background noise for the most part and I'm glad to see she got a whole episode devoted to her. Now, if they could only sign her on permanently and add her to the opening credits.

 

...that said. I hope they actually start to DO SOMETHING with Spike next week like they were doing before the break.

... I was watching Firefly.

Wow RRR, you really like Firefly that much.

 

Anyway I downloaded the episode off Buffy.nu, even though the last download is offline, so I can't get it yet. Plus, downloads 3 and 4 are all fucked up. The voices were a few seconds ahead of video, but beggers can't be choosers.

 

I liked the episode, but it was the weakest one of the season. You had to feel bad for Harmony, no one likes her because she is a vampire.

 

The episode was full of humor, which is only because the WB wanted to see a "lighter" side. They just can't take the AWESOME drama that happened last year, stupid WB.

 

All around, I was entertained by the episode, which is all I ask for. The one thing I don't like is that Lorne is getting less TV time this year, which really annoys me. It seems since he got on the opening credits, he gets less TV time.
