RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Oh and the thing with Harmony... That's fucking GREAT!! They build her up as this good-and-nice player (a fucking PLAYER) on the team ALL SEASON LONG *just* to turn her. Cause she's a vampire. She doesn't have a soul. She is evil playing good. And in the end, she shows her true colours. Fuck me standing, that's a great swerve.
Guest Vitamin EC Report post Posted April 18, 2004 A cliffhanger for a series finale seems lame to me, I know the story will go on but they could at least try and keep the series self contained. If what RRR believes is true then I'm very dissapointed in ME, saying fuck you to the WB should be far far down their priority list. Also, the thought of the TV movies are a hell of a lot less appealing without Wes and Gunn.

Vyce 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 My thoughts: I don't think Joss wanted to do a movie-of-the-week, so this is just a big "Fuck You" to the WB. It's such the anti-Buffy finale, where there was resolution and finality to the story. Here, it (may) end in a cliffhanger and they kill off the majority of the cast - it will leave everyone with a big "WHAT THE FUCK?!~". There will be a split between the fans - this will be a "loved it" or "hated it" kinda thing with no middle. Right now, I fucking love it. I didn't think I'd love it, because I'm a happy-ending kinda guy. But I dig the shit out of this ending cause it's so over the top. They are going out with a bang - you gotta appreciate the balls it takes to do that. Okay, a couple things. 1. Since "apocalypse" has sort of been the theme of Angel, it makes perfect sense to kill off so many of the cast. One does not go through Armageddon with a low death toll. Okay, well, Buffy did that with their series finale (what, all of TWO major characters died? We know Spike was going to sacrifice himself, and outside of Anya - who's death was incredibly sad, not in the emotional sense of the word, but in the sad = LAME sense of the word - the only deaths were Slayers who we had no connection to), and well, frankly, Buffy's finale sucked balls. My point is: if they're going to have an all out battle with the Senior Partners, who've only been built up more or less since season one, they might as well show that there are some serious repercussions from the conclusion of the war, i.e. multiple deaths. Oh, and I still don't get the Lorne thing. Is he a villain now? A badass? Or has he just decided "You guys are assholes now, which has made me an asshole too, so I'm hitting the bricks and leaving you losers for Vegas."
Mole 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Since I accidently saw the spoilers about Gunn, Wes and Lindsay dieing, I just read everything. I am spilt about the finale because I don't think it tells the story of Angel. On BTVS, Buffy's story was told in the finale. But I am not sure Angel's story was told. I just have to see the episode to know for sure, obviously. Ahhh FUCK IT, this is pretty sweet. I love Joss and crew.
Vyce 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Just thought I'd add this: If they're really going to make a half-dozen tv movies, I do hope one of them involves Angel and the gang beating the ever-loving shit out of the Slayers.
Mole 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I love it. This is the price they should pay for taking over that law firm Good call, I never thought of that.
Hank Kingsley 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 The main problem I have with this is Wes dying. Sure, it'll probably make a good scene with him and Fred, but he really shouldn't die. Gunn I can deal with, even Lindsey, but Wes? Sad emoticon.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Lorne probably just "gave up" - as reflected in his bar scene in Under. Demoralized to the fullest, he just left. BPS makes a great point, the joining with WR&H was a major thing that has been more-than-hinted-at as a bad thing (Buffy turning away from Angel is the best example). This is them trying to make up for that, and they pay the price. Adding Harmony to the credits is such a cruel joke. A cruel, beautiful, joke.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Yeah Sup, The Wes thing shocked me the most. The AICN spoilers didn't say Wes was dying, so when I read the true blue spoilers my heart sunk. But it works, IMO. Wes hasn't been right for a long time, from the Connor-deal, to Fred and Gunn, to Lilah, back to Fred, the man has been in constant sorrow now looking in on life rather than living it. Illyria learns compassion when Wes dies as she gives him, a lowly human, peace in Fred.
Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I do not read spoilers. This thread has suddenly become painful, agonizing, and drenched with evil, tempting red lines that I refuse to click. I hate you all like poisonous poisoncakes.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 It's not like anything big happens. I mean, they're really minor spoilers. I exaggerated before when I said they were MEGA HUGE; what I really meant was "Super Tiny". Insignificant, really. They won't even surprise you or "spoil" anything if you read them. Go ahead. Everyone else is doing it.... *puts on devil horns*

Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 I almost don't want to predict anything, cause everyone apparently already knows the ending it seems. Anyway, last episode was very good. Although Angel tends to overdo the "He's in something awful..." and then cut to the comedy shot. This one being Lins in the suburbs. I thought season 5 started out slow and has really picked up with the last half dozen eps or so. And I'm all for Adam Baldwin joining the cast, although at the very end of the run. RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 Aw c'mon, predict! It makes all of us who've read the spoilers feel all superior so we can laugh at you for making such silly statements because we know the truth.

Mole 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 *Cries* None of this is fair, none of it I tell ya. Which sucks? The fact you won't read the spoilers or what happens in the finale?
Guest 11and0baby Report post Posted April 19, 2004 What happens in finale. And if it wasn't for the Harmony turn earlier then having Spike turn would be the ultimate kick in the guts to Angel and have Spike at his Baddy Best but alas Harm going evil will still be kickass. And ending in a Cliffhanger is cruel and unusual punishment but what else to expect from Joss.
Mole 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 The Spike turn would be a GREAT swerve, but so stupid at the same time. Spike has his soul, so he wouldn't turn.
Guest 11and0baby Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Yeah I know BUT Dammit I want Dru back for the Finale at least have Spike get rid of her or do something with Dru cause last time we saw her she was just Darla's lackey and I've always had a soft spot for Dru. Golgo 13 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I wish I could live on Planet Optimism like you do. There's a reason that the show is being cancelled - it's been consistently pulling in bad numbers for a while now. See, I don't keep up with the ratings on a regular basis. Which is why the 2.2 seemed uncharacteristically low. I should mention I left that planet long ago, by the way. I'm one of those who, once the cancellation was announced, saw no hope in it being brought back. I fucking love this finale. The deaths make sense, in that this was their price to pay for joining W&H. Dying is really the only way to go, for those like Wes and Gunn. Lorne really souring and becoming disillusioned is tremendous, and let's face it, did he ever really want to be a part of all this? The Harmony turn also comes together well. Combine her evil nature with how much she was underappreciated by Angel, along with a little bitterness concerning Spike, and you have a vengeful bitch. Plus it's not like she hasn't betrayed AI before.
