The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Recommended Posts

After watching "Hole in the World", I am sure of 2 things.

1. It deserves to be in the finals

2. It will be very hard to beat it.

"Not Fade Away" better stand up pretty DAMN well in order for it to get my vote, because "HITW" is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Every single thing.

Someone (coughKeeperoftheTournament!cough) should go back and see all the previous matches involving the two episodes.

Well, it was me, Brian, then Superstar.

I vote Superstar.

I'm watching an Angel season 4 episode right now...the one where they bring back Faith. Anyways, Cordy kissing The Beast is still incredibly icky. Way to take the badass away from poor Beast.

THE BEAST and Jasmine would have been an AWESOME team.

"Do you want me to destroy him?"

"No sweetie, he is one of my beautiful followers"

"Oh"

...

"Can I destroy him now?"

"*giggles* No"

*THE BEAST wimpers*

"Oh alright! How can I say no to this?? *squeezes THE BEASTS chin*"

Cause no one else is MAN* enough to do it!

WITH COMMENTARY~! (Assume British Tone of Voice while reading)

Round 1:

Soulless (4) - 1

vs.

A Hole in the World (5) - 14

Damage (5) - 0

vs.

Not Fade Away (5) - 15

In what came as no surprise, Juggernauts "A Hole in the World" and "Not Fade Away" steamrolled through their first-round competition. "Not Fade Away" began with a clean sweep over "Damage" - the story of the psychoslayer looking for revenge and finding it... in Spike! An seemingly throw-away episode, landmarked by the realization that Buffy is not on Angels side and the poignant "We were once (Innocent)" proved to be too weak for the Series Finale. "Soulless" - the episode were Angelus returns in top form- was taken to the woodshed by "HITW" and left beaten and bruised. Had you told me that this episode would have been left as tablescraps in a tournament of champions, I would have been astonished.

Round 2:

A Hole in the World (5) - 13

vs.

Home (4) - 1

Not Fade Away (5) - 13

vs.

Lineage (5) - 1

While "Lineage" and "Home" proved strong in the first round each gaining 11-4 and 10-4 votes respectively, they were no match for the two finalists. "Home", the stronger episode of the 2 in my personal opinion, was a bigger win for HITW than that of Not Fade Away over Lineage.

Round 3:

A Hole in the World - 12

vs.

Origin - 2

Not Fade Away - 14

vs.

To Shanshu in LA - 0

Perhaps the biggest battle of the competition yet for each episode, it proved to be a cakewalk. "To Shanshu in LA" - a pivotal and powerful episode that molded the series from then-on fell in a clean sweep to the Series Finale in what had to show the true strength of "Not Fade Away". While "A Hole in the World" faced a Season 5-mate in "Origin", an episode which tied up loose ends and threw in a twist, and came away with another strong victory.

Round 4:

Not Fade Away - 12

vs.

Shells - 0

Hole in the World - 7

vs.

Apocalypse Nowish - 5

Another clean sweep by Not Fade Away brings it's total to *3* shut-outs and only 1 vote against it. Truly, this is the odds-on-favourite to take the Angel Cup of Champions. It's opponent, HITW, had a tough time against Season 4 favourite "Apocalypse Nowish". In a tight semi-final which came down to a singular vote against it (which would have lowered HITW to 6 and raised AN to 6), the better episode triumphed in the end. However, it's Sister Episode "Shells" was slaughtered and it may end up that way again for this powerful episode that reshaped the last few episodes and ultimately defined a season.

(*Nerdy.)

I really need to see season 4 of Angel. TNT needs to hurry up. They're like on season 1 now.

I want to see the Beast. Cordelia as a villain sounds really lame.

YOU won't like him Anyanka because he doesn't have a high pitched voice

What?

Like the Trio? I love the trio. I want to be in the trio. Of course then it wouldn't be a trio.

But I like Adam too.

Wait... the official vote is in here?

If that's the case, then Not Fade Away but this match really warranted it's own thread.

I'd kinda like to see Not Fade Away defend against soem of the other episodes that came up close.

You people want MORE voting? Jeez. I don't know what it'll accomplish, but okay.

Anyway, on the Buffy front, I rewatched "Dopplegangland" today. That episode is SO great. I love season 3 Willow.

Here's a list of how TVTome.com members have ranked Angel episodes with their ratings. Not Fade Away and You're Welcome being over half a point above everything else.

As for the list, just looking at the top ten, I liked Blood Money and The House always Wins. House always wins is a pretty funny episode, and really raises that question of why Angel keeps on fighting in a unique way. Blood Money had Boone, and Boone was pretty kick ass. Plus, that whole blood on your money and Anne just washing it off was pretty cool way to look at the moral issues that Wolfram and Hart raises (and at the start of Season 5, you could really see it with Angel and his new cars). Does the money corrupt or does the blood get to you?

Why in the BLUE HELL is Nowish so damn low?

They don't know anything.

EDIT:

Okay, looking at the list they did pick a few episodes that deserve to be high, but not these:

4. "I Will Remember You"

6. "Waiting in the Wings"

12. "Home"

18. "Dear Boy"

23. "City Of"

We could also do Angel winner vs. Buffy winner (Passion).

Ohh, snap.

"Passion" might win that one. Angelus is just the FUCKIN MAN in that episode.

Sajahn was great.

No he wasn't! His hair was too clean and shiny! How'd it go from scraggly in season 3 to clean and shiny, especially after he was trapped in an urn?

I meant in general, attitude wise.

And what is this? is Anyanka infecting everybody with her overly negative attitude all of the sudden?
