JasonX 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2003 http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1621690 If it was a regular player and not one of the league's crown jewels, Kobe would be suspended indefinately and kicked off his team. But since it's Kobe fucking Bryant he gets treated like a prized poodle and gets special treatment.....

Guest Salacious Crumb Report post Posted September 23, 2003 I don't see why not. Although I don't know why the Lakers would want him since he won't be able to practice with the team on a consistent basis. It's a league with an image of thugs. One more isn't going to hurt. But since it's Kobe fucking Bryant he gets treated like a prized poodle and gets special treatment..... I hate Kobe as much as anyone, but this is pure bullshit. Do double-standards exist? Hell yes. Are they unfortunate? Yes. Did Kobe rape that girl? Who knows. But to say that he should be suspended just because he's been ACCUSED of doing something is retarded. Wait until the trial is over, moron, and then you might have a point.

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2003 You need to add the word "alleged" before using "rapist"...
Ripper 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2003 I just put "allegedly" behind any long "KOBE IS A FUCKING RAPIST" rant I go on. I don't really know what to believe, but long sentences that are negated by the word allegedly at the end are funny. And I likes the funny.

Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 One of the only exceptions to the "alleged" rule I have is OJ Simpson... Of course, given that O.J. did lose the civil case, that's barely even an exception.
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 NBA is the one out of the three major sports organizations in North America that sells itself on stars over the GAME itself.......so a STAR like Kobe not playing would obviously hurt the NBA more than say someone like Vick never playing again in the NFL....... This being said, if he is found innocent, it is all a moot point anyway.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 If I had been accused of rape, my company would suspend me with pay until the case was resolved, for several reasons: the negative publicity, to keep the customers from complaining, to keep my co-workers comfortable, etc. If I was found guilty, they'd fire me. If I was found innocent, they'd reinstate me and recognize that I wasn't guilty. I fully recognize the "innocent until proven guilty" theory but to suspend someone with pay isn't calling them guilty - it's just doing the safe and sensible thing. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted September 24, 2003 Fuck David Stern. I wonder what he would say or do if the woman who Kobe RAPED was his daughter or wife. Wait a minute, it can't be his wife and unless his daughter looks like she's 15, then I guess she is also safe from that pedophile-raping bastard...allegedly. Ripper 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 This is the same league that threatened to SUSPEND Allen Iverson over a bad rap record. No you can go cheat on your wife and MAYBE rape a girl...but if you put out a record with naughty words, we will SUSPEND YO ASS....Unless you are AGAIN Kobe Bryant...then you can put out a bad rap record with curses on it and a horrible song with Tyra Banks singing...then its all good. So to review... Make a rap record and have cornrows.... BAD Be on trial for rape and put out rap record...Its OOOOKAAAYYYY.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted September 24, 2003 The double standards are pretty obvious. But Stern wants to help his precious Lakers into winning another title to help save his ratings. As if paying the refs and broadcasters under the table to make the Lakers look good and cheat to win are not enough…allegedly.
Bored 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2003 I first should say I hate Kobe Bryant but he has been convicted of NOTHING. Give me a fuckin' break with this double standard bullshit. If they suspended him the player's association would throw a fit and get it overturned anyways and if Kobe were suspeneded and then was proven innocent he could turn around and sue the NBA. Its a p.r. nightmare either way but Kobe has every right to play before he goes to trial. Once he the case does go trial though it will be moot because he probably won't be able to play then with it going on.

This being said, if he is found innocent, it is all a moot point anyway. There are four, or at least that's what some of us try to convince ourselves into believing. And yes, the players are bigger than the game in the NBA, which really ruins the game. When people are more entertained by the off-court exploits of these idiots, whether it's wife-beating, rape, gambling addiction, and the ever-hilarious SMUGGLING MARIJUANA WRAPPED IN FOIL THROUGH A METAL DETECTOR, it's time to just hit the reset button, in my opinion.
