Plus, MTV2 & Roadrunner Records To Release Double-Disc “MTV2 Headbangers Ball” Album October 7th

New York, NY (September 23, 2003) – Set to take some of the most earth shattering, deafening, and truly heavy metal music to the streets, MTV2, the 24-hour music network, today announced the first-ever MTV2 Headbangers Ball Tour. Set to kick-off October 28th in Montreal, Canada, the trek will feature live performances by heavy metal heavyweights including Roadrunner Records Recording artist Killswitch Engage, Prosthetic Records Recording artist who have just signed to Epic -Lamb Of God and Century Media’s very own Shadows Fall, who will all rotate and co-headline this year’s tour. Featured opening act for the first leg of the tour will be Eulogy Recordings’ Unearth and for the second leg of the tour, Century Media’s God Forbid.

All three headlining acts of the tour are also featured on the first-ever MTV2 Headbangers Ball CD set for release October 7th. Announced earlier this month by MTV2 and Roadrunner Records, the double-disc album will include 40 tracks from the best of metal’s established bands, and its most powerful up-and-comers. Just some of the artists featured on the album include Godsmack, Slayer, Hatebreed, Cold, Marilyn Manson, Mushroomhead, Ill Nino, Spineshank, Chimaira, Staind, Eighteen Visions and more.

The album and tour follow the on-air return of the Headbangers Ball earlier this summer with its premiere on MTV2. Highlighting the best classic and new metal videos, interviews with hard rock artists, and showcasing a new breed of metal talent, the new Headbangers Ball series is inspiring the next generation of headbanging fans. Hosted by Jamey Jasta of Hatebreed, MTV2’s Headbangers Ball can be seen every Saturday night at 10 pm EST and 7 pm PCT.

“With some of the most loyal and diehard followers in all of music, the return of ‘Headbangers Ball’ once again gives hard rock and metal fans a place that is all their own,” said Joe Armenia, VP of Music Marketing and Promotions for MTV & MTV2. “And with the show’s new home on MTV2, we wanted to take it one step further by bringing some of the best metal bands seen on the show every week such as Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall and Lamb Of God straight to the fans for an unforgettable live concert experience.”

Bands and fans alike are crazed anxiously awaiting the launch of the MTV2 Headbangers Ball Tour. "This tour will easily be one of the best tours Killswitch has ever done. And having “Headbangers Ball” involved, a show we all grew up watching is icing on the cake. I know us and Shadows Fall are looking forward to playing a full set - not just 20 minutes - for all the kids we saw at Ozzfest. And it's always fun to watch Lamb of God play. So be prepared!!" -- Howard Jones, Killswitch Engage.

The real deal…Lamb Of God drummer Chris Adler says: "We're very excited about unleashing the monster that is Lamb of God onto the U.S. and with the help of our friends in Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, God Forbid and Unearth, this will prove to be the metal concert event of the year. Headbangers Ball is finally back and with it comes the first and only real metal tour of 2003. Take note, top to bottom, this is how it's done.”

With music so extreme there is always an element of surprise and risk… “I am not sure if my liver or my neck muscles are prepared, but I am definitely willing to risk serious physical damage and potential rehab to be a part of this year’s MTV2 Headbangers Ball Tour. We couldn't be more excited about rejoining our great friends in Lamb Of God and Killswitch Engage. And now, maybe Randy of Lamb Of God and I can finally finish our drinking contest that began about three years ago. Be prepared, there's a steamroller heading your way.” -- Brian Fair, Shadows Fall.

Well MTV2 didn't screw this up and try to put some Nu-Metal crap on this tour. I'm kinda proud of them. Again I ask, is Ricky Rachtman gonna be on any of the dates?

I'm pretty sure they are. Might I also add that I'm SHOCKED, and in AWE that they've put together a good tour. I'm actually probably going to go to this, as there's a plethora of midwest dates. I need to get Primus tickets, too. Gonna be a concert-going motherfucker this fall. 1 Month til Slayer.

Not if I were writing it. Colongrind. It's a new genre I'm planning on making.

No. That was a cereal.

This is going to blend standard blast and groove grindcore, with the natural rhythms and sounds recorded from my intestines via a stethoscope and microphone.

Technically no, but that's a good descriptor.

There's a thing called Bowel Sounds, which are completely involuntary, and constant. They can be heard through a stethoscope pressed against one's abdomen. It's a sort of creepy, squelching sort of noise. Very organic and ugly. Throw a swampy down-tuned bassline over that, and some good old blast and groove knowhow, and voila~!

Peristalsis is beautiful.

I've actually gotten a few of my friends into Shadows Fall because of my love for them, as well as their OzzFest set. My friends Emily and Charles got into Massachusetts's Best Band (fuck Aerosmith) via me and OzzFest. Looks like {bleep}Fest did some good, eh?
