brokentusk16 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 My portable RCA broke today, so I got a $30 Magnavox 45 ESP Jogproof portable today. Has anyone tried this brand before? I haven't gotten many Magnavox items.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 26, 2003 (edited) It's probably as good as the RCA and any other low priced mass produced portable CD player. Most of these brands use the same components and just slap on different brand names. Edited September 26, 2003 by El Satanico
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Not that it matters, but the first portable CD player I got was a Magnavox back in like 1993/4 and it still works today even though the battery life is abysmal (4 AA batteries last about 2 1/2 50 minute CDs..) brokentusk16 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 Are they normally compatible with all AC/DC adapters? I have one with a 6V output.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 26, 2003 I have no clue...I haven't used one in nearly ten years. It's all about portable mp3 players now.
evilhomer 0 Report post Posted September 26, 2003 It's a real crap shoot with cheap products. I had one that broke 5 times in the first year before I chucked it because the warranty is up. I've got another that I've been using off and on for 5 years without trouble. The only real thing to say is if it works, count yourself lucky, if it don't work, you get what you paid for. Guest El Satanico Report post Posted September 26, 2003 $30 isn't that cheap for a portable CD player now. Most except for Sony are $30 - 60. Unless it's a total off brand name you've never heard of, it's no big deal. People just have the habit of thinking anything not considered a major brand is poor quality. AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted September 27, 2003 I got a Lennox Sound portable CD player in late 1999. It was pretty cheap I remember--20 bucks or so. It skips now and then, but it's not a big deal to me. Last week I dropped it and the lid came off. I snapped it back in place--and it still works great. MrRant 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2003 Magnavox is the low end arm of Phillips so it's good stuff.
brokentusk16 0 Report post Posted September 28, 2003 Ok, the damn thing didn't work at all (wouldn't even turn ont), so I exchanged it for another and now everything is peachy. Had to buy another adapter though, so it cost me $15 more than I wanted it to.
