Mik Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 What a fucking play! Thank you Alex Gonzalez!
Bruiser Chong Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Both teams are blowing big chances here and you know it's going to come back to haunt someone. Grudzielunak who's a great contact hitter pretty much fucked things up by popping out. That was a great play to get Sosa out, but truth be told, it shouldn't have been on his shoulders to get the run in.
Guest Bobby Cox is God Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 This has been a great, great game. I know Mik and other Marlins fans are enjoying this after being told that they couldn't do it all year long.. Hell the Cubs fans too, although to a lesser extent. At least, most people I know thought the Cubs had a good shot to win the division.
Mik Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I thought Conine got away with one there, but Farnsworth recovered nicely. We are looking at a good spot for Mike Lowell to play the hero with the pitcher's spot due up in the 9th.
Downhome Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Playoff baseball continues to be outstanding. What got in to everyone this year?
sfaJack Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 This is a little off-topic, but if I see just one more commercial for that goddamn Nextel walkie-talkie thing, I'm going to kill somebody. As to the topic at hand: come on Cubbies! It's now or never; we do NOT want to go extras with these guys, with the way things have been breaking for them lately.
Mik Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Off topic again but your name keeps throwing me off. I expect you to be cheering for the Red Sox, until it sinks in that it's Bosstones.
sfaJack Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Well, I could change it if you like. I've been meaning to anyway because it really sucks. Any suggestions? Yeah Alex! Now, can Goodwin do it again?
sfaJack Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Fuck! How can they all just stand there with their bats on their shoulders WITH TWO FUCKING STRIKES??? It's going to cost them a series sooner or later.
Mik Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I think by the end of the series I might know what Bill Simmons feels like. *hopes people read page 2 today and get the joke*
Bruiser Chong Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Goodwin's come through so many times in those situations. Isn't going to happen everytime. Without Gonzalez's glove, the Marlins are down by two by my count.
Mik Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Why is he pinch hitting Hollandsworth and not Lowell? Lowell must really not be ready to bat yet, otherwise there is no excuse.
sfaJack Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Read it, Mik. It's going to be an exhausting series. I fear I will get no sleep over the next 10 days or so....
MarvinisaLunatic Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Bases loaded for the Marlins..maybe..
Bruiser Chong Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Welp, that should pretty much do it. Deja Vu on that at-bat. How big is it that Goodwin didn't get the job done now or their chance to score in the 7th?
sfaJack Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Well, at least Prior is pitching tomorrow and Wood on Friday. A 2-1 lead is still a very real possibility.
Bruiser Chong Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 That's pretty much what I said. Nothing against the Marlins, but it seems that the chances are good when you've got Prior on the mound. Clement's gonna have the ball in game 3 though, not Wood. Or did I miss something?
Mik Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Wood and Prior are awesome, beyond words, but it is foolish to expect a W out of both of them every time they pitch.
sfaJack Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Wood and Prior are awesome, beyond words, but it is foolish to expect a W out of both of them every time they pitch. Mik, we're just opimistic. After this disaster tonight, it may be all we have left. And Bruiser, I think you did miss something. I could have sworn I heard that Wood is going Game 3 so that he can go in Game 7 if they need him.
Mik Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Double by Lofton brings some hope. After being down 0-2, good piece of hitting.
