Suing casino's because of husband's gambling...

Third-party ban??

Can imagine the precedent if she won this case? I'm sorry, I thought that we were supposed to learn restraint and pay the consequences for our actions. Now she even wants the casino babysitting?

What bullshit. Try getting your family together to confront your husband, or move your money into a safe account. Get your husband on the DAP list, don't blame the casino.

So she's blaming the casino for her not intervening and stopping him from spending all their money?

Of course, if a casino refuses to take any more money from a psycho gambler, that person will sue the casino under the pretense of the casino not allowing him/her the chance to win his money back.

Funny thing is when I lived in southwest Ohio gambling was a big issue. I'm sure this just added more fuel to the fire...

This is stupid.

I bet you she wouldn't be suing if he was actually good at poker, no matter how addicted he is.

There's no way she's winning this lawsuit.

If she does, what's next? Suing McDonalds for not stopping fat people from eating Big Macs?

Oh wait...

Not sure what the laws are regarding Riverboarts, but over in Vegas there's plenty of laws about gambling addiction. All the hotels provide a phamplet with phone numbers etc and how to recognize an addiction.

Casinos shouldn't have to bear full responsibility, but they should have SOME responsibility, and to whatever extent Vegas is doing, it's worked.

Willie Brown did not respond to interview requests.

I do, however, find it funny that the "victim" shares the same name with San Fran's mayor.

Do you, or anyone else, know if Vegas casinos are allowed to "stop" someone from gambling if they are out of control, much like how a bartender is allowed to stop serving a lush drinks?...

I imagine someone would've sued them over stopping them from gambling by now.

Or it could just be like on the Simpsons where they have to ask every 36 hrs. or something.

It's hard to find information from the source on that kind of thing since it's not too happy a subject and thus they don't like to dwell on it. I thought I had a gambling addiction flyer from one of my trips but it appears I don't.

They can punt out anyone they like, which they often do to card counters at single-shoe BlackJack places. Also at card games, they can close a table if they want a person to take their chips and go.

The Mirage, one of the more premier places on the Strip, has a page that says among other things:

The Mirage is a founding member of the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling. This is a consortium created to educate and inform the public on signs and treatment of problem gambling through resources that include a 24-hour help line staffed by trained counselors.

In addition to supporting the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling, The Mirage has instituted a number of independent measures to address the concern.

And that's about as close as I got. Again, they don't like to dwell on it.

Being private property, casinos are allowed to remove anyone from the premises that they please. However, generally, the only people they remove are cheaters, "skilled" players (like card counters at blackjack), and people who are causing a disturbance. No casino would ever remove someone for losing too much money.

As I check off Gambling Addiction on my list of Things People Have Sued Over, I'd like to say that I've dropped a few hundred dollars every few months in a casino. You don't see me shedding tears over it or suing.

Unless the woman attempted to get her husband restricted from playing at the casino in question, I don't really see her winning a cent.
