The night before Insurrextion in London last year, I went down to the bar of the hotel where I was staying, and saw Michael Cole playing cards with Teddy Long and the Coach on the hotel lobby. I was like shit! it's Michael Cole, then i was like shit, it's Michael Cole, so I disappeared into the bar, where ref Mike Sparks was sitting with a couple of production crew guys, all dead drunk, cracking onto these FUCK ugly girls. One of the girls stood up, to go to the bar, and Sparks grabs her ass, which was followed by a swift slap to the face, prompting 3 of the ugliest girls I have ever seen to all get yup and leave. Poor Mike Sparks.

We're flying by Harris Teeter, and this man walks out with his grocery cart.  We have to brake really hard to slow down so he can walk pass.  We circled back around, and saw it was ric.

Whoa, Ric WHOO, BY GAWD Flair grocery shops at Harris Teeter???

Why not - it is a quality supermarket store!

Apparently it wasn't just a one time thing either.  My brother works there, and told me just this morning he saw Ric Flair there yesterday afternoon.  He said he had his sunglasses on and was sort of discrete, so he didn't say much.  But he also said his wife is a lot hotter in person, and really nice as well.

Whenever wrestlers come to Tacoma, they always eat at Arby's. I swear there's always ten guys there.

Two or three house shows ago in Seattle, after the show I was waiting outside and Chris Benoit drives by into the worst traffic (traffic is horrible getting anywhere around here), and there's like twenty people circling his car. Because Benoit rules.

Sidenote, since we're talking about run-ins of fame, I work at a QFC in Seattle (Interbay) and there's always sports stars in there. Gary Payton comes by once in a while, as does Jamie Moyer, Shawn Kemp used to, Freddy Garcia was in the other day. I know Moyer pretty well since I coach his kids team part-time and one of my brother's is his kids friend. I also buy clothes once in a while from Mario's, a shop downtown; they'll close down the store every once in a while to let Ichiro shop there for his $2000 worth. He drives one of those big Lexus SUV's in the alley with the tinted windows and I swear everyone knows it's him.

BretHart4Ever, where was Chavo rushing to? The bathroom? Cause when I first saw him, i was like "Yo Chavo, You rule!" and trying to start a convo, and didn't relize he was in a hurry to goto the bathroom. Got to hand it to him though, he wasn't rude at all...took me like five minutes i was like "Oh shit, you where going to the bathroom weren't you!"

You know what I don't like? the WWF like shut down Hugh Morrus' web site or something. Morrus would actually reply stuff on his message board and everything. Mossus kicks major ass.

Talked to Y2J in a chatroom. Not much of note was said. Asked him to be a dick again and he was like "Ha Ha Ha". This was in 2000.

I met DDP once while he was doing an autograph signing in a music store in Norfolk, VA.  He was having people say "Bang" before he signed the picture he was handing out, and was very impressed with mine (the people ahead of me were doing a piss poor job at it).  Very nice guy, considering the number of people in line that day.

My dad was lucky enough to meet Stone Cold in the San Antonio airport one day.  They were on the same flight together (from Houston to San Antonio), and my dad had recognized Austin when he passed by him in first class.  My dad saw him again in the baggage claim and talked to him for a couple of minutes, getting personalized autographs for both my brother and I.  Very cool.

I meet Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn and Rick Martel at a nitro party in quebec  two or three years ago. They were all really cool. It was during benoit's US title reign and i have a picture with the US title belt on my shoulder.

I met Hogan at Axxess this year. He was nice, a lot of eye contact. He looks better in person then he does on TV, I think. He had a huge line, they had to cut it off at a point. I felt bad because there were like 6-8 lines of people just standing there chanting 'Sign back here'. Oh well, he was a nice guy.

I also met Spike at Axxess. Felt bad for him because after a while no one wanted to go up and meet him because they wanted to wait to see who would come out next. He shrugged and smiled, then left when no one came up for him to sign. But, he came out in a few minutes again and they pushed the line through. He was really sweet.

Met Hurricane and Molly at the thing where you can get your picture with them. (like Santa) The stupid staff people shoved this belt on me. I was like whoa it's heavy. Hurricane was like is it too heavy? You don't have to wear it. I was caught up with staring at him and I was just like, oh, um sure. He was pretty little, but cute.

I was looking at all the cars they had on display (Vince's cement one in particular) when security pushed through and was yelling to everyone to get out of the way. I just looked up and backed up against the Rock's mercedes, and good ole' Hurricane was in the circle of security. He looked at me and said 'Hey sweetie.' in his North Carolina accent. *dies*

RVD said hi to me too when I was looking in the cage where the people take their pictures with them.

Those are my only experiences with actual encounters. Cool beans.

Jerks I've met would have to be Buh Buh Ray Dudley, X-Pac, and the Undertaker. I have met others and they were all cool. People like Chris Benoit, Bret Hart, and Mick Foley were great. They don't act like they are any better than you. I met Jeff Hardy and Trish Stratus after Wrestlemania and they were pretty cool aswell.

Alot of ECW guys are nice. At Wrestlemania, I was up in the luxury boxes(Skyboxes) and when RVD was leaving a whole bunch of us saw him by the elevators. He signed all of our autographs and took pictures. Really nice guy.

I saw Scotty 2 Hotty up at a local gym in Maine, a week before he came back on TV from rehabing a neck injury.  A little kid asked him for an autograph and he bitched the kid out.  He's pretty much the biggest thing to come out of the town I live in.  Sad, ain't it?  I'll end up being more famous than he is.

I met Shane Helms at a house show in my town.  It was before it began, and I was standing by a bunch of markish fans and when he came out the door, I was the only one who yelled, "SHANE HELMS!" (during his 3-Count stint) and he gave me the thumbs-up.

Soon after DDP sneaked through the back, but everyone saw him, and he gave a "BANG!" to everyone and went in.

Also, my a girl-friend of mine (notice the dash) got Kurt Angle's autograph as he was eating in a Waffle House after a house show.  She waited until he was done, and she got it... although he spelled her name wrong.  :P  She said he was a nice guy.

That's about it.

All each stories about people meeting RVD & Storm are making me jealous, though.  ???

I really don't have too many wrestler stories. I met Tommy Dreamer, Sandman and Paul Heyman at Mind Games in 96...well kinda. I actually walked into the arena and bumped into them when I was looking for my seat. I was really too shocked to ask for an autograph or anything. I just stood there pointing at them and smiling, and Paul was all like "hi kid". Still cool as hell though.

Next was the Raw in Atlantic City back in 97 where I kinda met Goldust. They were getting ready to film a vignette where Terri and Goldust played with their daughter Dakota on the beach, and all the fans just mobbed them. My best friend was sitting there actually trying to have a conversation with Goldust, but they pretty much ignored all the fans. I still got Terri to smile at me, so I'm happy. Also at that Raw, I saw Michael Cole walking around like an idiot. He was new and I didn't realize who he was until he was already headed into the arena.

And finally, I have a funny story about Kevin Kelly (the commentator). Before a Raw in Philly back in 98, I told all my friends that I was gonna smack Kevin Kelly if I ever saw him. Then after the show, we were all in the parking lot watching the wrestlers leave...and guess who walks right up to me, looks me in the face and says hi? That's right! Kevin Kelly! See...I was gonna beat his ass...but he was carrying his daughter with him so I let him slide. Nice dude in person...but next time I'm whopping his ass! :D

Two second-hand stories...

My dad sat on flight to New Jersey next to Bam Bam Bigelow and Luna Vachon back in the early-to-mid 90s.  He said they were both pretty cool. My dad told them I was a pretty big wrestling fan, then they autographed a photo and made it out to me.  Pretty cool.

Second story is kinda funny.  Back in like 99, WCW ran a house show here in Athens, OH at OU.  One of my buddies saw Chuck Palumbo uptown at the bars that night, but this was like a week after Palumbo debuted.  My buddy knew he was a wrestler but couldn't think of his name.  Palumbo seemed pretty happy to have somebody recognize him, but when my buddy couldn't figure out who he was, it was like the air was just let out of the balloon.  Poor Chuck.

BTW, D-Von was cool, Bubba was not.  Bulldog was cool with me too as was HHH.

Thank You Dames. I say that all the time and no one ever believes me. I met both Dudleys at WWF NY the night after SummerSlam 2000 and Buh Buh was a total prick while D'Von took pictures with me and my 2 friends. Really Cool Guy. I also have pictures to prove it, LoL.

Also, I met Val Venis, Test & Saturn at the Pepsi Arena and Val & Test were both really cool with me but Saturn was a total and complete Bastard. I worked there at the time but I was off the clock and me and an other guy who worked there at the time was standing in the back away from the back doors and from the entrance where the Wrestlers go through and when Saturn walked by us we said "What's up Saturn?" and the Fuckin' dickhead actually made a scene and started yelling at people to find out if we belonged back there even though we had our Pepsi Tags around our necks.  I hope that Crowd killin' bastard fucks his other knee up.

Sorry to hear that. i know i'm biased up to experimental levels but i've heard saturn is a great guy. He always used to reply to his message boards when his official site was still up. But i can sympathise with a lot of these guys who are on the road for the whole year getting the crap beat out of them and sometimes fans are the last thing you want to deal with.

My brother met the Dudleys once.  He said D-Von was great, but Bubba was a total asshole.  Seems to be the consensus.

You're a jerk, Bubba Dudley.

The first meeting I had with a wrestler was when my parents went took me to the airport (LaGuardia or JFK, I forget) to go get my uncle.  Me and my dad were were walking up some steps and on one side of us was Hulk Hogan carrying down his bags, dressed all in black.  We didn't notice him at first, but I had a couple of the old LJN figures with me and I guess he saw 'em.  He looked over and asked me if I had his at home.  Then my dad recognized him and they talked a couple minutes.  I just wondered who this guy was, since I couldn't tell under his sunglasses.

Guess he realized that, because he took them off quick to talk to me.  He was asked me if I was saying my prayers and eating my vitamins, but he was kind of whispering so he didn't draw any attention to himself.  He said a couple more things and signed an autograph before he left.

After he showed me who he was, I just kinda stood there wide-eyed the whole time.  It wasn't until after he left that the whole experience really started to sink in.

I was two or three at the time, so I might've been a little off on some of the details, but I'm absolutely sure he was the one who came up to me.  Think that was pretty fucking awesome of him, going out of his way to greet a little kid without even being spotted first.

I love you, Hulk Hogan.

I met Owen Hart once after a show in 1998 and started talking to him.  Suddenly these little kids come running up for autographs.  He signs them all without batting an eye, then, in his Owenish way, points to some random crew member and tells the kids "See that guy over there, that's Kane!"  It was the funniest sight to see these six or seven kids run up to the surprised crew member and beg for an autograph!

Also met Sunny and HBK at an autograph signing in 1996.  Sunny was so nice.  She made sure to thank everyone for coming to see her and signed autographs and took pictures with everyone who wanted.

HBK though, was a dick.   After standing in line for an hour, my buddy finally got his autograph.  He says to Michaels "Thanks for the autograph!"  Michaels (who seemed pretty hung over or something) just lets out this giant groan, like "uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh"   Halarious.

Finally, a second-hand story from Access this year.  Apparently Rikishi was a real dick, even going so far as to charge some disabled kids for a picture with him when all the other wrestlers gave free pics to them.

So, to sum up:

cool: Owen, Sunny

prick: HBK, Rikishi

That doesn't sound like he was being a dick.

Since you said Rikishi I never ever heard a fan who had a great experience with him. I hope they cut fatass soon.

Back in 1995, at a WCW house show, all the wrestlers were leaving and jumping in their cars, but there wasn't any barriers or anything.  So my family took the objective, and walked around.  It was kind of a spectacle, actually.  I saw Eddy, who was packing his stuff into the back of the small car, and asked him for a picture.  The camera messed up the first time, and Eddy laughed, joking about whether there was film.  Eddy jumped into the back of the car, and I didn't realize that Jericho, Benoit, and someone else were in the same car.  Jericho, oddly, had put a towel over his head and was slouching down.  Eh.

My mother saw a van, and was full of the luchadores without masks (although, looking back, it may have been just a Spanish family or something ;) ).  My mom commented on how well they had done that night, and apologized for seeing them without their masks on.  Psychosis (as I remember his face then compared to his unmasked self) flipped the finger.  Boo-urns.

Virgil/Vincent was driiving out alone, and my mom waved at him.  He smirked and waved back, but nearly killed himself by swerving at the WCW ring-carriage truck thing.  Pretty funny.

Before the show had started, the Giant walked through the lobby while everyone was waiting for the arena to unlock it's doors.  Everyboyd started pushing up against the glass, and I was at the front.  He jokingly laughed, and posed a little bit.

Ive been enjoying this post and wanted to contribute but didnt have any stories.......until now. Tomorrow (the 18th) is my birthday. My brother works for a company here in NYC that sets up for all the big concerts and tv shows, so he knows some important people. I asked him if he could get me in to see The Rock on Saturday Night Live this past week for my b-day (even though I am not the biggest Rock fan) . I had no idea I was going until that afternoon. Not only did I get in, but the pass I had gave me axcess to hang out backstage before the show. The guy who my brother knows gave me and my girlfriend the grand tour before the show started. Kiddingly I asked him if I could meet The Rock. He said Rocky was in a production meeting learning new lines they had just added to the show. As he went off to finish his work, I was standing around and all kinds of people were passing me, the cast, Lorene Michaels and even former Mayor Giuliani was there. All of a sudden I look over my shoulder and there is Shance McMahon and his wife Marissa. I said to my girlfriend, "Holy shit its Shane McMahon!!" Shes not a wrestling fan, so she really didnt seem to care. Apparently Marissa heard me and she laughed when I said that. Shane then went off to talk to the Rock who was now about 10 feet away from me. While they were talking, Marissa kept looking at me and smiling. I waved to her and she waved back. She went and said something to Shane and he waved me over. I looked in back of me to make sure he was talking to me and apparently he was becasue all that was in back of me was a wall. So I went over in full mark mode trying not to show it. Shane and Marissa introduced themselves to me and then The Rock put out his hand and said "The Rock. Thanks for coming to see the show". I was only able to speak to them for a couple of minutes becasue the show was about to start but it was worth it. All 3 of them could have been nicer and Marissa is HOT!!! By the way, I also met Andrew WK and he was super SUPER nice. I got to watch the show up in a VIP room with his friends. All nice too.

Awesome post idea

I went to what must have been the smallest WWF House Show ever in January of 1996.  It was in Fitchburg MA, at the Wallace Civic Center and had less than 2000 people.  But what a card!  Bret-Diesel was the main event but my friend and I spent the whole match talking to Ahmed Johnson who was a genuinely nice guy, he stayed to sign a few hundred autographs, took all our comments, and ended up leaving over an hour after the matches ended.

Cool story. Was Andrew WK acting like a maniac or just like a regular guy. And how how is Marissa in person? A 10?

I wonder if you people realise how lucky you are? The last time I was at an actual show, let alone meet one of these people, was ten years ago... sigh, living in the cultural backwater of Ireland is great.

Still, it's great to hear some of these people aren't dicks. ;)
