Oh man, I had the greatest night tonight, my first ever victory riot, at Fenway.

So unbelievable, people burning Yankee flags on top of billboards, I scaled the ticket office roof at Fenway, cars overturned, chicks flashing, dude next to me got the business end of a nightstick, fire trucks going by and the firemen were HIGH FIVING the fans, holy shit that ruled. This is the first time I've ever been in such a huge, chaotic, fucking joyful mass of people- hopefully my pics from the roof came out.

I wish I could describe it better, but I'm so fucking amped right now.

If we get in the Series, win or lose, it'll make this look like small potatoes though.

Question:

Why exactly should the Sox be written off against the Yankees?

I know their ace won't be able to pitch in the first game and the Yanks had more rest, but what more is there to it? The Sox don't have any major injuries (besides possibly Damon) that will factor into it, do they?

If anyone says anything about The Curse of the Bambino~!, I will personally come to your house and slap the shit out of you. There are no such things as curses in sports.

Because something will happen...something always happens to break the hearts of Red Sox fans. Despite what they say, Red Sox fans are always expecting it in the back of their mind.

If it's not a curse then god hates Boston, which isn't unthinkable.

Of course god doesn't exist, so it must be a curse

Fine. Only if we don't have to hear about his being the Red Sox year. Whatever teams wins, wins. It won't because of a "curse" and it won't be because it's a teams year. They'll win out on the field.

Well they shouldn't be "written off" but they barely beat an Ailing Oakland team:

Mulder - Out

Hudson - Injured

Zito - 3 days rest

Guillen - played with broken bone in his hand

Dye - just came back from huge knee injury

Quite Frankly, as a diehard A's fan, I can tell you right now, the A's had no business going up 2-0 in this series. I thought the A's would be done in 4 games, because of what bad shape they were in GOING INTO the playoffs. Usually it is the exact opposite, but injuries killed the A's for this series. However the A's were a bad call away from winning this series 3-0. And that is with how putrid the A's offense was.

That's true. I was wondering too, "what happened to the A's?" They were arguably the hottest team in the majors, along with the Twins and the Cubs, down the stretch. I honestly had questions about whether the Sox would win the series taking that into consideration. Now I think they CAN, whether or not they WILL, beat the Yanks.

And the intellect of Boston sports fans is further proven to be seriously lacking.

...Who hopes Boston burns their city town, simply so they have to spend a ton of money to rebuild. And who'll laugh when they lose. Again

Don't you have to go get your ass kicked by a girl?

Geez, I'm a die-hard Sox fan, and last night was an awesome feeling, but rioting for a Division series victory?!? No wonder Boston fans get a bad rap. Even through EVERYTHING the Sox put me through I'm never embarrassed to be a Sox fan.

Times like these make me embarrassed to be a part of "Red Sox Nation", however.

Well, since I have a moral problem with hitting women, not exactly "getting beaten up".

As I said earlier, you insepd twat, just because you CAN beat somebody doesn't mean you SHOULD.

You moronic little shit.

"As I said earlier, you insepd twat, just because you CAN beat somebody doesn't mean you SHOULD." ... Much like the A's COULD have beat the Sox, but DIDN't?

And I think that people overreacted b/c the team came back from down 2-0. If they'd won the series in 3 or 4 games, it would have been less of a celebration. Of course, if they beat the Yankees in the ALCS, the riot will happen regardless of how many games it takes.

I fail to see how this justifies a riot after winning in the FIRST round.

OMG!!! YOU WON 3 GAMES- BURN THE CITY DOWN!!!

You shouldn't riot after winning anything but it's downright retarded to riot after winning in the first round.

You never see New York rioting after they win anything

Oh no, NYC is a model citizen... listen, most of the people acting like idiots last night were drunken college kids, a good percentage of whom aren't even from Boston.

I think that most fans - regardless of where they are - would over-react if they're team came back from being one game away from elimination to winning the series. Especially if one game went to extra innings, the second wasn't decided until the 8th inning, and the final one ended with a bases loaded strikeout in a one run game.

The rioters that cracked me up were those idiot college kids that got arrested for rioting after GAME THREE! Why the fuck would you riot just for not getting eliminated?

And, lastly, count me as someone that doesn't give a shit how the rest of the country/world feels about Boston or Red Sox fans. I'll still sleep at night knowing that people look down on my city for some idiot imported college kids going apeshit in a drunken stupor. And as long as it's not my car that's getting flipped, I don't even really care about the the local ones that went out and rioted.
