Guest Smell the ratings!!!

lately I've been "treated" to two of the all time bad commercials/trailers in the same month.

now both these look awful, and barring a miracle, both will be awful. But which do you think will be awfuler....eh, more awful

Well, I haven't seen the one for Radio, but I think that House of the Dead will be a fun little romp...

...

and your avatar looks like a guy forcing some other guy to give him oral pleasure...I'm disturbed...and facinated?....no...no that's just disturbed.

um...neither looks that bad.

Radio doesn't look like something I'd be interested in, but I don't see anything awful about it.

They both look aweful. Radio seems to be doing its best to take the Forst Gump football scenes and expanding them to fit a whole movie. And while the potential commedy of having the retarded kid knock down players with a tackling dummy, there is also the distinct possibilty of way too much 'message' getting crammed down your pie hole.

House of the Dead has creepy dudes licking some chick, well armed ravers, and some chick jumping in the air to fire a shotgun... none of which makes any sense!

HoTD will probably be worse, but Radio will likely be more annoying... go with Radio.

What the fuck? Radio looks fantastic. I don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Hopefully it will be as good as Rudy. I already know that I'm going to like it.

Every screening review I've read for House of the Dead says it's god awful in every way.

It wins by default, I guess.

Honestly, it doesn't matter that people don't like the way House of the Dead looks because....

Woohoo for Radio! The place, people, and the story it's based on is right up the road from where I am. Hell, Cuba Gooding Jr. is going to be in town here, and the premier is taking place here.

The only reason that movie looks bad to you guys is because "Feel Good" movies, and I am guessing here, aren't exactly your cup of tea.

I had no idea what movie you were talking about that movie at first, but after reading the thread, I remembered seeing the preview. It looks like another "feel good" family film.

But, you've yet to answer why it looks bad...

Anyway, i'll be going to see Radio. It's looks good, and I happen to be a fan of Cuba Gooding Jr.

Radio looks terrible. I couldn't sit and watch that for an hour and a half...especially when the trailer is so geared towards telling you the entire story right away.

There is no big story to it...

It's about a mentally challenged guy who wants to be accepted.

It's not original, but nothing wrong with it.

This is the problem here...ignore the fact that Cuba Gooding, Jr. won an Oscar. What were the last few movies that he's been in? Rat Race? Boat Trip? Snow Dogs? This sticks in my mind. I don't really care much for someone who lowers himself to cheesy, campy, unfunny comedy, then thinks he can return to the Oscar race by doing a "deep, moving" picture. And he'll probably win another Oscar for it, too.

I seriously doubt he will win an Oscar for this.

Radio doesn't look overly offensive, it just looks like this year's The Rookie. I didn't like The Rookie, but I wouldn't say it was completely terrible.

I think Radio will be worse, and I just say this because they are obviously making the movie to try and win awards. At least House of the Dead doesn't try to get across the same recycled message " We felt sorry for the handicapped person, tried to teach him, but HE ENDED UP TEACHING US!!!! *tears* *tears*"

Yeah and Ive seen handicapped person piss on a bowling lane approach, didn't learn shit from that (except that piss soaks into approaches).

that line actually made me cry, though probably not for the reasons they were aiming for.

Cuba just needs a better agent

El nailed it on the head with this one. Cuba's been in some bad movies (Rat Race, Instinct, Boat Trip) and some great movies (As Good As It Gets, Jerry Maguire, Boyz N Tha Hood). He's definitely guilty of doing movies that he (or his agent) think will win awards (Instinct and Men of Honor being prime examples), but cut him some slack. Dude can be a kick-ass actor given material.

As for Radio...movies about the mentally challenged seem to be hit and miss, and also seem to split the audience right down the middle. It really depends on the strength of the script which, IMO, could be really good or really bad really, really easily.

For the record, I don't think either movie will be THAT bad. I mean, seriously, I'd wager that House of the Dead will be exactly the same quality as Resident Evil, and Radio will be exactly the same quality as I Am Sam. After all, both movies were made due to the semi-success of the two previous. Hollywood is just trying to capitalize by churning out more mediocrity, which, unfortunately, will probably succeed in some way.

For another record, I Am Sam is better than Resident Evil, and I'm betting Radio will be better than House of the Dead.

Maybe that's why I disagree with people on this. When I think of I Am Sam and Resident Evil, I do not think of quality.
