ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Hey Anglesault...I thought of one thing you should be glad about for this past Smackdown. Kurt Angle wasn't made to look like an idiot. Think about if he was still heel and replace Show with him for the end of this Smackdown. Yeah, instead, he got that H-LAR-I-OUS battle rap. So much better. But he wasn't made to look weak during it, correct? Hence, I see nothing wrong about it.

Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted October 11, 2003 Was it Bret/Austin-like in its build? Speaking of, I haven't seen RollingSambos around here lately. Definitely not since the spoilers were posted. I would have liked to know if the rap battle ressembled anything from Bret/Austin.

I never thought it was suppossed to be comedy at all. Angle in a rap battle was supposed to be serious? Was there a real need for this to be a rap battle? Was I supposed to be rolling on the floor or saying "oooooOOOOH!" when Angle called Cena a white guy that wanted to be black?
Nevermortal 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2003 There was absolutely no logic in that segment whatsoever. Yeah...ok, Cena challenges Angle to a rap contest, but who's forcing Angle to go out there and try to rap when he could just as easily go out there and slap Cena in a ankle lock and forego any of his stupid rapping? Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Cena insults Angle with his rhymes...Angle does the ultimate face thing and mocks him and kicks the shit out of him... It wasn't a intentional Comedy Piece...

Angle challenged Cena because that would supposedly be funnier. Even worse. "I think I'll challenge the resident rapper to his own game so he can verbally crush me and instead of doing much, I'll just beat him down." If Kurt was smart, he would've challenged him to do it then beat his ass in the ring. Oi. Logic. That's a no no. I forgot.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 12, 2003 He was just mocking Cena...By doing what Cena does (rap) and then blindsiding him... He does the rhymes to insult Cena's Passion (rapping) and beats him up at the same time... It's better then going "Screw the Rapping! It's ass kicking time"... Besides in all modern Action flicks the hero face has to mock or say something "funny" before kicking the bad guy's ass...

I'd rather see less rapping and bullshit, and more ankle locking and heel hooking.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 12, 2003 But It threw Cena off his game...Cena's there for a Freestyle and Does his usual solid rap and Angle pretty much insults Cena by insulting Cena and by doing such a bad freestyle (which angle knew was bad)...This infuriates Cena mentally and THEN Angle builds the intensity and attacks him... It's similar to Austin/Bret only in the vein that Austin would insult Bret by attacking his catchphase... only Angle was playing Austin here instead of Bret... Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 12, 2003 I didn't think it was suppose to be funny. I thought it was suppose to be intense. Oh, okay then. They really failed. Intensity goes down the shitter when everything has to rhyme He was just mocking Cena...By doing what Cena does (rap) and then blindsiding him... I'd say Angle beating the ever loving shit out of Cena without telling a stupid "story" would have gotten the point across fine. But It threw Cena off his game...Cena's there for a Freestyle and Does his usual solid rap and Angle pretty much insults Cena by insulting Cena and by doing such a bad freestyle (which angle knew was bad)...This infuriates Cena mentally and THEN Angle builds the intensity and attacks him... Or he could just beat him up. Without the "hilarity" of a bad "freestyle"
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Why do that? It's Bland and Cena would have expected it coming...Not while Angle was doing a Battle Rap...Angle knew well enough Cena cares to much about a battle rap that he would focus on the freestyle and not ancipate a beatdown out of no where... It's a Smart thing for Angle to do...For once he comes off looking smart.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Why do that? It's Bland That's the logic that has people shooting shit at other people and shocking genitalia with car batteries. Attacking him in the back and beating the shit out of him is more intense than rapping about how Cena thinks he's black.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Cena would take more offense by being verbally insulted about something he is passionate about then Angle sneak attacking him the back... He only "rapped" for a minute just to verbally insult Cena...whom is very insecure as we can see from his reaction to being called a wigger...Angle knows that obviously. Verbal Insults tend to scar more then your standard attack the guy from behind sceanario that YOU want angle to do.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted October 12, 2003 Cena would take more offense by being verbally insulted about something he is passionate about then Angle sneak attacking him the back... Well, but of course. You can see how hurting his feelings is a better strategy than say, trying to break a bone. Actually, no, I don't see it all.

Well, but of course. You can see how hurting his feelings is a better strategy than say, trying to break a bone. Actually, no, I don't see it all. Psychological advantage. You get a person off their mental game enough, then when the match comes around, they won't fight as well they usually do. I did something similar when I was on my High School Wrestling Team. I'd jump off the walls (literally) to intimidate, then rip my T-Shirt off. Worked on almost all my opponents. Face it though Angelsault...you're trying to turn the Angle character into something it's not. Something that we got sick of seeing too much of in the Attitude era. Well, at least something I got sick of anyway.

So, instead of that "boring" "I'll kick your ass" promo style and backstage attacks, we have rap offs and shit shooters I'm just not in tune with today's youth. Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Am I the only one concerned that at the house show circuit Kurt seems to be turning into Billy Gunn, both literally (with the mooning) and figuratively (with the homosexual tendencies)?
Austin3164life 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2003 The problem with Angle and Cena is the booking committee. Like Anglesault said in another thread, it's a waste of both participants in this feud. The feud does have potential of being Austin/Bret (not like it but a modern version) but of course with WWE's over-the-top rediculous booking, it won't. That's why I'm scared of the match results at No Mercy.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2003 Well, I don't get Smackdown here, but I did catch the end of Afterburn or something, and I thought that the shit shooting was the dumbest thing I'd ever seen. It made me glad that I don't get Smackdown anymore. In fact, I can't even get into Raw right now with fucking boring Goldberg as the centerpiece of the show. I don't think I've made it through an entire Raw since Unforgiven. My enthusiasm for the WWE is pretty much at an all-time low right now.
