Slayer Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Whatever happened to Reckless Youth and Mike Quackenbush? I remember in the mid-90's how the Apter mags were all over these guys' nuts, saying they were the biggest indy stars and sure to eventually break through to the big feds. I stopped reading Apter mags in 1998, but never heard anything about these guys elsewhere.
Guest Salacious Crumb Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Reckless Youth is semi-retired. Quackenbush just wasn't that good.
Guest ToddRoyal Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Youth wrestles as Tom Carter now. He is semi-retired, but he has worked some Ring of Honor shows recently.
Zack Malibu Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Quack is still around, and trains wrestlers at the Chikara (sp?) Wrestling Factory, located in Pennsylvania. He also writes articles on his career for one of the Apter mags, I believe The Wrestler.
Mecha Mummy Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Yeah, he writes for The Wrestler, I think. I read one of his columns earlier this week while at Barnes and Noble.
WrestlingDeacon Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 Quackenbush is 202 in PWI 500 this year.
Guest Doyo Posted October 11, 2003 Report Posted October 11, 2003 Both are still very skilled wrestlers and they have each had pretty successful indy careers. I guess they just don't have "the look" that Vince is after. If WCW was still around maybe they would have got a shot there. Reckless won the IPW Jeff Peterson Memorial Cup this year. Besides the US, Quackenbush has wrestled in Mexico and Europe this year. His book "Headquarters", is one of the better books by wrestlers. I think they were both more hyped around 1997 because there wasn't as many cruiserweight style wrestlers around then. Now it seems that 90% of guys on indy shows could pass as cruiserweights.
